You will attract negativity. The weight of hatred towards another will not lead to freedom - it will be something that stops you from seeing your full potential - like a blind fold youve chosen to wear.

21.01.2022 Last week we celebrated 12 Streetlight youth who completed our first ever Street Eats! Mayor of @cityofplayford Glenn Docherty gave a super motivating word to our young people & @woolworths_au managers came to champion them on. Thanks to our legendary long time friend Jessica Ferdinands who pulled this whole thing together and wowed us with her cake skills. And of course, was beautiful seeing her decorate it with some of our youth. Who ever said young people dont complete things. God is at work! You guys nailed it. 20.01.2022 We take THIS seriously. We know the vulnerability a lot of our youth find themselves in. We’ve heard the stories, seen it, been in it. It’s raw, it makes us angry as volunteers & shakes us emotionally - more than that. We’ve done countless reports, midnight calls, immediate emergency housing...the list goes on. We pray, we debrief, we support each other as volunteers. It’s tough. It’s not fair. You can’t understand it until you are here. But it’s real & very present. We take ...responsibility for the place we’re in, for the things we see as that’s what being a decent human being is to another. Every single one of our volunteers complete a child safety training before they start volunteering. It’s essential. We learn first hand how to report, how to ask, how to support. We learn the legal requirements & what the state expects of us. We are equipped & trained knowing what to do when each week these stories are exposed. 19.01.2022 Thinking of our Streetlight young people today when we post this. Most of you are between 12 and 18 years old. This is James Charles Martin and he was the youngest Australian known to have died in World War I. He lived in Melbourne but was only 14 years and nine months old when he passed away at Gallipoli. He was one of 20 Australian soldiers under the age of 18 known to have died in World War I. How would u feel going to war at 14 to defend your country? Leaving your parents, siblings, boyfriend/girlfriend? Puts it into context a bit hey. We will remember them

17.01.2022 Well youve probably heard the words Live beyond self from one or more of our Streetlight volunteers this year if youve been hanging or chatting with them. Thats because its in the Streetlight culture - to live a life beyond yourself is to live a life thats not self absorbed, self focused or self indulging but instead generous, life giving and selfless. Extending your arms to others, the needy, the poor, those in need is life changing. We love how when we chat to you guys, were hearing this come into action now. We bumped into @heymishi77 today (Pastoral Care Worker at Playford International HS) and couldn’t help but notice her cute little buddy! We love Michelle & get to work closely alongside her. If you go to PIC & you’ve never met her, now u have a reason - to ask for puppy cuddles! Today’s calls have been tough, if you’re feeling a wee bit low, shoot us a PM. 11.01.2022 So 7 weeks ago we rocked up back at the centre with our team of volunteers, and the Streetlight setup gear and we were stoked to hear that during the hardcore Covid restrictions that you guys were coming back each week just checking to see if we were back on. Now thats commitment. I know its kinda been word of mouth but for those who dont know, we have been meeting each week back at the centre for 7 weeks now but due to Covid safe plans we havent been able to advertise (until now! Yay). Come find us this Thursday night.
10.01.2022 Completed our 1st Street Eats on Monday. What a hit! As we were eating our meal online together we took it in turns to share something we were greatful for from the day. Jess (Streetlight volunteer) shared how much joy she got whilst dropping off these goodies! She thought it was amazing to meet some of the incredible young people who were eagerly anticipating their arrival. We all cooked up quite a storm together! A big thanks to Morialta Trust, Streetlight supporters and local businesses at the Elizabeth City Centre for helping to make this happen. We cant wait to do it all again, next Monday!
