18.01.2022 We are seeing this lockdown have a significant impact on the mental health of many of the youth we work with in Street Peace. In August it was reported by the DHS, there was a 33 per cent increase in young people presenting to emergency departments for intentional self-harm over the past six weeks compared to same time in 2019. In the midst of the pandemic, we have a mission to protect and fight for these precious lives who are living in some of the most extreme situations. ... I'm so glad to announce that last week we launched our Uber Chats campaign with Street Peace. This engages youth in a weekly mentoring program. Simply put, we weekly deliver a Uber Eats meal to the home of a young person and also to the home of one of our awesome volunteer mentors. They then have a virtual meal together, building friendship, discussing life, and sharing hope. We are already seeing great results from the handful of youth we have trialed this project on. They are keen to catch up weekly, love the Uber Eats, and have improved their mental health. There are several ways you can get involved, from onboarding as a mentor to supporting the work.
