25.01.2022 Repost from @triplejhack Feeling like you want to help others right now, but dont know how? @strength2give could be the thing that makes you a literal lifesaver. Dozens of Australians are diagnosed with blood cancer every day, and many will need a stem cell transplant to save their life. Genetic matches are rare, so most Australians end up receiving transplants from overseas donors. During the coronavirus crisis, travel bans and sickness have made those donations tricky..., and in some cases are putting lives at risk. So the Bone Marrow Registry is urging more Australians to sign up, so local donors can hopefully be matched with Australians. The good bit? Young people make the best donors - if youre aged between 18-30, youre particularly urged to step up All you need to do is fill out a simple form online, and youll receive a mouth swab kit in the mail. From there, @strength2give will figure out if youre a match with any patients. What are you waiting for?! Head to the link in our bio for the deets. - #strengthtogive #strength2give #swabgoals #bloodstemcelldonor #stemcelldonor #bonemarrowdonor #triplej #abc See more

24.01.2022 Media Source: https://www.instagram.com/p/B976Jn7nSYh/ My family friends four year old son, Aidan is awaiting a bone marrow transplant Earlier this year, a young man from Europe was identified as a bone marrow match for Aidan and a transplant was scheduled for this April. However, this can now no longer proceed due to the current international restrictions... If this is something you feel called to do, please sign-up for the bone marrow registry via strengthtogive.org.au It was a no brainer for me, as I wish to see all children in the world thrive I would appreciate very much if you could share this invitation with your community In divine love, always Chiara My niece Annaka & me #bonemarrowdonorsneeded #registernow #itseasypeasyjapanese ( # @weloveyoga_chiara )

23.01.2022 Weve recently seen an increase in the volume of young Aussie males aged 18-30 registering with us. AWESOME WORK, AUSTRALIA! Remember that younger donors result in better outcomes for patients, and we are severely lacking young males 18-30 on the registry. Please keep spreading the word to the young males you know #strengthtogive #strength2give #swabgoals #bloodcancerawareness #fkcancer

23.01.2022 Dan the Superman! Dan swabbed a few months ago to join the stem cell donor registry, he may go his whole lifetime without being told he is someones match, but ...joining gives hope to blood cancer patients, and if he does get that phone call one day he will have the chance to save a life! And notice all of Dans great tattoos?! Unlike blood donation, you can still join the donor registry at any point after getting a tattoo, in fact the eligibility to join is a lot simpler than donating blood (of course donating blood is something everyone should do if they can)! Visit www.urthecure.com.au/how-to-join to learn more about eligibility, youll be surprised at how easy it is, so what are you waiting for be like Dan and get swabbing, order your kit online at www.urthecure.com.au/swab #urthecure #strength2give #stemcelldonation #eligibility #tattoos #swab2save #savealife #superman #thankyoudonor

You can be a lifesaving match for someone suffering from Lymphoma by registering at strengthtogive.org.au #bloodcancerawareness #leukaemiafoundation #strengthtogive #swabgoals

Joining is so easy - all you need to do is a simple cheek swab which we will send to you in the post (no need to leave th...e comfort of your own home). 19.01.2022 "Best friends with a lifesaving bond! Were celebrating two best friends who, against all odds, were each identified as a match for two people in urgent need... of a blood stem cell donation. Emma and Kelly, both from Devon, met at school in 1991 and have remained best friends since. Emma joined the blood stem cell registry in 2008, after her father was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. A few years later she was identified as a match for a patient in New Zealand. Following her donation, Emma took to Facebook to encourage people to also register as potential lifesavers. A number of her family and friends signed up including her best friend, Kelly. Incredibly, just three months after registering, Kelly too was matched with a patient in need! Emma was the first person I called and said, Guess who I just had a call from?! Emma came with me to London on donation day. I wouldnt want to have taken anybody else. Once registered, theres only a small chance of being found to be a match for someone in need, making Emma and Kellys story extremely rare and all the more special! " See more

18.01.2022 It's true - and no, we're not talking about your ex... Many living creatures, including mammals, fish, and even snakes have bone marrow. Ken Cooke, director of the pediatric bone marrow transplantation program at Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, calls the substance the factory where all of the elements of blood and the immune system are generated. The marrow manufactures red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and more, which then make their way through a small ca...pillary system and into the blood. 11.01.2022 Media Source: https://www.instagram.com/p/B9GeZsPnIHJ/ Post Type: Carousel (Image 1 of 3) I am a proud bone marrow and blood stem cell donor.... In late 2017 my legendary Dad died from a rare type of leukemia - an important part of his treatment was a stem cell transplant, which ultimately gave us a few extra months with him. Patients can only receive donations from people who are a very close match - and unfortunately no family members were a match - so Dad needed to seek a donor from the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Register. Stem cells from blood and bone marrow can cure many types of cancer and immune diseases. Some patients match with very few people in the world; sometimes, you may be the only match. Go and check out strength2give - they send you a donor kit in the mail, with a return envelope for your swab! Just think, you may save a persons life - or you might need that stranger one day. Here is a photo of my Dad receiving this stem cells - I miss his cheeky smile every single day. Amanda x ( # @courageousladies )

10.01.2022 Well done to the Mid North Coast Indian Association "MNCIA" for hosting a donor recruitment drive this weekend - excellent work! 09.01.2022 Hey Australia, we have some good news and some bad news. Firstly, due to the overwhelming response from Australians like you, we have reached our Strength to Give target earlier than expected. We thought it would take a year to recruit 5,000 new donors, but it turns out we only needed 9 months! And all this without a marketing campaign amazing! Thank you to all of the wonderful people who have had the Strength to Give and register to be potential donors. You have given hope... to the thousands of Australians who have a blood cancer or disorder. Unfortunately, our success has brought a problem our budget can only stretch to testing around 5,000 donors. So were pausing Strength to Give recruitment while we seek support to continue. With around 85% of Australian patients now dependent on overseas donors, the need to grow Australias pool of blood stem cell donors is as real as ever. We think Strength to Give has proven that when its easy for good people like you to join the Registry, you will flock to sign up. If youve already signed up with Strength to Give, heres what you need to know:: > If you currently have a swab kit, or have already registered with us to receive one, you are one of the lucky last to join! Please follow the instructions in the kit and send us back your swabs, and we will absolutely register you as a donor. > If you have recently sent back your swabs and havent received confirmation of your successful registration, hold tight your swabs are being processed, and you will be registered soon! > If you have already registered as a donor and have received an email from us, congratulations, you are officially on the donor registry! Nothing changes for you we will continue to send you updates and key info to your email. And if you havent yet joined, and youre a blood donor, you can still sign up just ask when youre next giving blood. Of course, the Registry itself isnt going anywhere, we will continue with our critical work of sourcing donors for patients, in Australia and around the world. If you need to get in touch, contact us at [email protected] and follow our social accounts for further Strength to Give updates. Fingers crossed we will be back sending out swab kits to all you future lifesavers as soon as possible! #strengthtogive #strength2give #bloodcancer #australia #mission #stemcelldonor #bonemarrowdonor #swabgoals #thankyou
