18.01.2022 Barbell Back Squats Below are some very simple tips for back squats. 1. Get under the bar. Stay in the middle and make sure the bar is resting on the back of you neck. (*Always make sure it is resting on the muscle and not on the bone) 2. Lift the bar off the rack and move two steps back. Your feet position should vary according to your physique and goals, but generally a shoulder width stance and feet slightly pointing outwards can't go wrong. ... 3. Keep your CHEST UP, BACK STRAIGHT, Take a deep breath IN, HOLD IT, CONTRACT YOUR ABS as if someone is going to punch you. 4. Finally sit down while pushing your HIPS BACK and KNEES OUT. 5. Your squat depth should also vary according to your physique and goals, but generally any depth just below parallel to the floor is considered good. 6. Once you reach your desired depth, push with your HEELS against the floor. (Try placing a weight plate under your HEELS) 7. Make sure to push your KNEES OUT and also your KNEES and HIPS should come up at the same time in the same sequence. 8. Once you reached an upright position, BREATHE OUT and REPEAT. (If breathing is confusing, just breathe IN as you squat down and breathe OUT as you come UP) It is a complicated movement pattern with lots of variations and expert opinion, but basic tips will always be the same.
