15.01.2022 It is great to get feedback from clients. I particularly like this one. When she saw me she was almost paralysed with fear because she was asked to give a talk to a small group and wanted to but just couldn't face the thought of actually doing it. She wrote: "Dear Daryl, you truly are a miracle worker. I go back to 1999, I am at my brothers wedding ceremony, and I don’t hear a single word of the service because I am rigid with fear. My name is called to read a verse and wha...t do I do? I get my eldest sister to go up instead of me! Then there was Wednesday afternoon, same person, completely different approach. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I could get up in front of a crowd and speak to them from my heart. But thanks to you I have and I will continue to do so if asked. 05.01.2022 The interesting thing about fear of public speaking is that it is about fear of humiliation and it most often stems from bad childhood experiences. Either direct painful experiences (think having to stand up in front of the class and present) or it can be witnessing someone else having an embarrassing time. Remembering and associating those past experiences activates the fight, flight or freeze response and all one wants is to do is to get out of there. I really enjoy helping people overcome their fears and watching them succeed.
