10.01.2022 We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and welcome to 2021 This year Strike It Out Inc will be making changes to our services as other services cease or chang...e their services we will do our best to fill the current gaps. We will post up our schedule for 2021 in the next couple of weeks. 2020 was a massive year with been hit with the Covid-19 Pandemic so much changed in such a short period of time. We strived through with been on the ground directly seeking the people who were sleeping rough and assisting the best we could with lifes basic essentials. Assisting each individual directly going to them where ever they were sleeping rough. We went further afield out to locations in Kings Meadows, Trevallyn, Riverside, Ravenswood and other suburbs not just looking after the people who were located centrally in Launceston. We assisted with helping pay for individuals and families into accommodation so we knew they would be safe, off the streets or out of their cars as no one knew where Covid-19 was going to strike. We completed the build of a mobile locker trailer which consists of 24 individual spaces for those sleeping rough to store their belongings in. Unfortunately we still are looking for a space in central Launceston to set this up, it has security cameras operational and it will be managed. This project is costing us monthly mobile data to operate so we would really love to see this project been utilized instead of taking up space sitting lonely at our base in Newstead. If you are able to assist with a location please inbox us, thank you We had more individuals kindly organise fundraisers to raise much needed funds for our sleep pod project we now have to continue to raise another $80,000 to complete the fit out of the 2 x 40ft containers. This project once completed will have 10 individual safe spaces to sleep as well as a communial kitchenette, shower, toilet facilities. Been a mobile setup enables this project to be setup at different locations if required. If you are able to please assist with raising funds please inbox us, thank you so much Our organisation now works in partnership with the Launceston General Hospital, Community Corrections, Anglicare, Baptcare, Aboriginal Centre, Police and other services ensuring that we can assist with their clients directly with lifes basic necessities before they step out the door. This is working really well and it feels rewarding to assist each individual on a one on one basis. Essentials such as food, swags, sleeping bags, mobile phones, clothing packs and prescriptions are filled as well as bus fares are provided. Thank you so much to all who donate to make this happen We directly deliver food packages to our clients who are in need of assistance. This works in everyone's favour and it saves alot of stress and is good for our clients mental health knowing they do not have to find a way to collect from us. A large percentage of our clients do not own a vehicle, or have a number of children and using public transport as well as trying to get groceries home is a mission, having a disability or injury which makes life complicated enough. We pride ourselves in our direct to the door service. Thank you so much to all who donate to make this happen We set up our square inventory system which has been a massive help and time saver once everything had been entered. We no longer have to manually write everything down. We can easily access reports which is a massive help in providing on the spot information in regards to supply levels etc. Thank you so much to all who donate to help make this happen We also have our North West Coast branch which we are slowly working towards following the same operations that we have implemented down here in the North. It all takes time but we look forward to the progression this year on the North West Coast of Tasmania Currently we assist with delivering of food packages to our clients on the North West Coast of Tasmania and we have set up an account at a local pharmacy for emergency prescriptions to be filled. If you would like to help Strike It Out Inc with a financial donation even if it is $1 a week every dollar helps us with continuing our services and helping the less fortunate in the North and North West Coast of Tasmania Having consistent financial donations coming in gives us less stress in knowing that we can continue with bridging gaps and our regular bills are going to be paid. 07.01.2022 Good morning yesterday we received another urgent call to assist a person who has severe social anxiety and their only option currently is to sleep rough. We ...provided the basic essentials to help this person out with a swag, sleeping bag, new clothes, toiletries and food. Our funds for paying for accommodation are running out as we receive no government funding we rely solely on the generous donations from the community. We thank all of you who donate to help us to help those less fortunate We wish we had the 10 individual safe spaces set up with the sleep pods. Just recently we have had quite a few people who suffer severe social anxiety and the safe spaces are not set up for these people. Our $ are running out to continue paying for accommodation for people when all other services have not been able to accommodate we are the last resort on the list. It breaks my heart every phone call we receive, just wishing we had our 10 individual safe spaces set up. We still have to fundraise for another $80,000 for the fit out of the 2 x 40 ft containers.
