25.01.2022 Train the trainer - Triceps This is week two of buddy iso training with Natalie Weve been focusing on body weight exercises in this four week block. Tricep improvements! ... Natalie week 2 doing 3 sets 10 full pushups with 20 pulses. Week 1 only managed 2 sets! Vanessa improving strength with 1 full push up and 9 slow eccentric tricep drops (aka the tricep worm ) and 20 pulses on knees. Week 1 no full pushups. Progress!

24.01.2022 ** ** It has been an interesting few weeks in isolation - people have either relaxed on their health goals or taken the bull by the horn and made the most out of the opportunity. Paul definitely falls into the latter category! He has been training online with Strive for Fitness for 5 weeks and committed to 3-4 weekday virtual training sessions in addition to riding 1-2 times a week. ... Paul's goals were to improve fitness, get faster on the bike for his group rides and to lose a few kgs. The virtual sessions are a mix of bodyweight HIIT and strength training sessions, in addition we are working on interval outdoor bike sessions. SO far Paul is down 3.1 kg and 10 cm's on his girth measurements (neck, chest, wist & hips). With group rides now permitted again, I look forward to seeing how his training has improved his performance on the bike. Well done Paul

It is SO important to remain active at this time no matter your decision - be it to stay home and use your own equipment or to be outside in the fresh air but adhering to social distancing advice.... If you are part of the first group. We have an ONLINE training opportunity that may interest you. It can be generic or tailored to what you are used to doing so you get the best fitness outcomes in the current circumstances. It comes with support, accountability and virtual engagement! IF you are wanting to take your fitness to the outdoors. We continue to run our training sessions at Lake Monger and Floreat Beach. They are both beautiful locations with lots of S P A C E! 17.01.2022 Keeping it moving! So important for our health - mental and physical. Grateful for my Strivers who continue to support my business (and in so doing my family). Hard for some to understand I know and thats ok. Doing it right - outdoors, no equipment, and well over 1.5m social distance (even the flag kept its distance)! Most important we connected, talked, empathised, laughed, motivated! Oh yes and got sweaty! Well done everyone!... V x

12.01.2022 Strength Training for Surfing So chuffed to have Pro Surfer Claire Bevilacqua join us for a training session this week!! She is a total powerhouse in the surf (and in the gym!)... The focus of the session was core work, and leg and glute strength - the drivers of movement and stability in the surf. The session included: Backward stepping lunges with single shoulder presses, and walking lunges with lateral swings. Single leg work improves balance and stability, while rotational training can help with powerful turns and manoeuvres that require a dynamic upper spine. Hip thrusters for glute strength - strong hips/glutes are all part of developing lower body stability. They also give you a firm butt . Alternating arm leg planks using a band for glute strength and upper body and core stability. Roll outs and other fun abdominal exercises to build a well cut rig . 06.01.2022 ** ** Meet Sheree! One of the friendly faces you'll meet at Strive for Fitness. Sheree joined us 18 months ago - almost to the day! Over that time she has lost 6kg, dropped 6.5% in body fat, and gained 2kg in Lean Muscle. The journey hasn't always been a straight line, after all life happens, holidays happen, COVID happened...you get the picture. ... What has helped Sheree achieve and maintain her goals has been; 1) her commitment and consistency with her training, 2) pushing herself at training and resting when her body tells her too, and 3) maintaining a healthy balanced diet - even with a glass of wine . Sheree has gone from 7 pushups on her knees to double that ++ pushups on her toes, a 40 second plank to 90 second plank and so much more. Bottom line - Progress is not just what the scales say and it takes time, commitment, consistency and hard work! Trust the process - and just keep going! Super proud of you Sheree!
