13.01.2022 The NSW Minister for Disability has not committed to the funding of Disability Advocacy organisations throughout NSW after December 31st 2020. This significantly reduces our funding base and will impact our members, especially those who are initially dealing with the life-changing event that is Stroke. Access to information regarding ongoing support is essential to ensure that people maximise their opportunity in recovery, as well as ensuring a better quality of life outcome... and a smooth transition back into their community. The availability of information is key in linking them to the valuable and vital supports that they will receive through our Stroke Recovery Club program. Without the advocacy service, Stroke survivors will lose their place at the table where they have the ability to influence government decisions regarding service provision vital to their ongoing wellbeing. The NSW Disability Advocacy Alliance (of which we are a member) are requesting individuals who have benefited from advocacy and information services, such as the Stroke Recovery Association, complete the survey below. This will assist in highlighting the important work of the Association and other such organisations throughout NSW and how vital the continued funding of these services are to people with a disability in this state. The results of this survey will be utilised as part of our ongoing campaign to influence the Ministers decision going forward. Please take the time to complete the survey. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NSW-disability-advocacy_22
