22.01.2022 Stromlo Forest Park offers 48km of mountain bike trails catering to the beginner up to the advanced. If you are new to mountain biking, know your limits and skill up before you attempt difficult trails Trail etiquette: - Tracks are one way - Pull off the track if you need to stop ... - Know your limits - Be aware of other users - On shared trails, yield to other users Produced by Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate.

22.01.2022 Stromlo Forest Park is a shared use facility between horse riders, pedestrians and cyclists. Trail etiquette and safety requires cyclists to give way to other users. What to do when bike meets horse: Slow down and stop.... Do not use a bike bell. Talk to the horse rider. A friendly voice saying Hello, can I pass? tells the horse you are human and not a machine/threat. Wait for instructions from the horse rider or for the horse to pass and reach a safe distance. If permission to pass is received from the rider, slowly and calmly pass the horse allowing adequate space. Avoid making any sudden or unexpected movements or noise. If a horse/rider is struggling with the situation, remain still and slowly remove your helmet so the horse can see a human face. Animal instinct will, in most cases, determine a horse’s initial flight/run reaction. It is important for the safety of both the horse rider and cyclist to follow these steps. Produced by Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate.
