23.01.2022 Me and my best friend living our best life With the year coming to a close I’ve been thinking about the ‘best bits’ but also the little everyday bits that have created a whole year of incredible memories! Don’t sit around waiting for ‘when the time comes’ or ‘when this or that it’ll over’ ‘when work has calmed down’ create tiny pockets of magical joy in each and everyday and I promise that smile will spread from ear to ear each day and you will light up someone else’s lif...e with your light What daily prices of magic have you created? #mine is my morning meetings with @cortney_carroll and the coffee machine magical chats with @emilywornes big fat hugs from @chazzamurray and most of all seeing @1mark.mc smile
11.01.2022 Maintenance How many times have you forced yourself to go on: Yo-yo diets... Shred programmes Transformation challenges Detox weeks But what happens when the challenges are over? As we’re coming up to a busy period, and then new year with an influx of challenges, I am not saying these aren’t beneficial. But what if you could find the perfect balance to maintain when the hype and the challenges are over? Some tips from me during these times: Consistent Training - maintain a balance of higher intensity and slower, endurance based training. (Choosing types of training that you enjoy is a biggie) Nutrition - If you’re after long term results, find what suits you. Are you a prepper? If you know that you are more likely to eat well when you have meals prepped, do that. If you prefer to be less regimented, stick with that but have backups up your sleeve for times that you’re desperate! Nutrition is key in maintaining a healthy, happy lifestyle, filling your body with nutritionally dense goodness no matter what time of year it is NEAT - non exercise activity thermogenesis - the movement that you don’t class as working out. Can you take the stairs instead of the lift? Can you walk to the shops instead of drive? can you carry a basket instead of pushing the trolley? All of these smaller changes add up to make a big difference! Appreciate your progress - don’t just use the scales as a gage to tell you if you’ve been good or bad. In fact, throw away the scales if you like and go off how you feel! I use all kinds of metrics to track progress, plank challenges, running times, weights lifted, etc. Your performance will reflect your efforts and in turn, this is where the true changes takes place.
