24.01.2022 Sundays are for making people strong and eating veggie sliders at @mealmachinescafe! . Seriously, if you haven't checked this place out yet you are missing out big time. Easily the best veggie burger in Hobart in my opinion, and pretty good value too. .... #strongstoryfit #punchtrains #rawstrengthtas #mealmachinescafe #hobartfitness #hobart #veggieburger #hobarteats #fillmybelly #gains #Nutrition #bantomatoes

24.01.2022 No inspirational quotes here, just a reminder - unless you have an experienced spotter, use the safety rails. Whether you're attempting a 1rm or warming up, nobody cares. You don't want to end up injured... Or worse, a viral 'gym fail' video. . . . #strongstoryfit #punchtrains #powerliftingaustralia #powerlifting #powerliftingmotivation #squats #bodybuilding #strengthtraining

23.01.2022 Today was the most amazing afternoon, and I feel some shout-outs are in order. . Jake did some one-rep strength tests after a long training block, which included squatting 87.5kg - just a few months after struggling to squat 40kg for 10 at nowhere near today's depth. Awesome stuff! (Video in comments) . Ash (not filmed) is simply dominating, with deadlift form looking excellent, plus rep PRs and form improvements on every lift. Well done brah, you are killing it!... . Lastly, Nick, also having a test day, EASILY deadlifted 135kg - a 20kg improvement on his previous best (video in comments) - and was an inch from pulling 140kg before his grip gave out. That is at 70kg bodyweight. Almost double bodyweight deadlift :o well done Nicksmith! . I am so proud to watch as my team get stronger from month to month and be a part of their fitness journey. I love coaching, and I love being in the business of making people strong. . I have a few spots available. Message me for details. Join us! See more

17.01.2022 Had an amazing time over the past weekend undertaking the Powerlifting Australia Level 1 coaching course! 15.01.2022 Powerlifting meet week DOs and DON'Ts. . It is that time again! Keep in mind these DOs and DON'Ts for the days leading up to your next powerlifting competition. . DO ... . Plan ahead. Write a list, pack your bag a couple of days early and double-check that you have everything you need for the day. If you plan on buying your food for the event the day before, write a list so that you do not forget anything. Also, PACK A PEN! Preferably a few of them. . Eat foods that you would normally eat and are familiar with. . Relax. Get plenty of sleep, avoid stressful situations and take it easy physically. . Visualize. Regularly close your eyes and imagine what it will feel like to succeed at lifting your openers, second and third attempts for each lift. Try to include as much detail (the feel, sights, sounds) as possible. See yourself hitting that PR before you actually attempt it. . . DON'T . Wait until the morning before weigh-in to realize that your soft-suit has a tear in it, your membership card is nowhere to be found and you don't have any caffeine. . Eat foods or take supplements that you are unfamiliar with, or try your luck with anything that seems sketchy or is past the use-by date. . Get drunk, deprive yourself of sleep, or get injured gardening or moving furniture! Now is not the time to exert yourself too hard. . Put too much pressure on yourself in the leadup. I know - we all do it. But it is important to enjoy the whole journey of being a powerlifter, from the training to the comp prep to hitting that final deadlift to helping to pack up afterwards to eating a shameful post-comp meal and then beginning the process again! . . #powerlifting #powerliftingaustralia #rawstrengthtas #deadlift #squat #bench #sbdapparel #strongstoryfit See more

14.01.2022 Had an awesome time today meeting @savickas_bigz, possibly the greatest strength athlete of all time and one of the strongest people that has ever lived. . Workshops and seminars are such an amazing way to learn from the very best, as well as incredibly motivating. Thanks so much to @cfresonate, @strongmantasmania and Big Z himself for making it happen!

08.01.2022 POWERLIFTING MEET REPORT: Tasmanian Open 2020 . After a few months of quarantine shed training, it was finally time to compete again. I went in feeling very confident, and successfully made weight at 93.85kg after completing my first water cut. . SQUAT... Attempt 1: 170kg Attempt 2: 180kg (1kg PB) Attempt 3: 185kg (5kg PB after the second attempt) . BENCH PRESS Attempt 1: 95kg Attempt 2: 100kg Attempt 3: 105kg . DEADLIFT Attempt 1: 180kg Attempt 2: 191kg Attempt 3: 201kg (9kg PB) . TOTAL: 491kg (16kg PB) . As always, thanks so much to @rawstrengthtas for being my coach of the last 5 years, handling me today (absolutely nailing my attempts) and running another amazing event; @catalyst_sap for doing my nutrition, and particularly helping me through a successful water cut; and everybody who volunteered their time to referee, spot, load plates and work the tech desk. A huge shootout to @jamesbritton_ and @lukethegun who, in both of their first meet, forced me to my absolute limits to take third place. . I have just dispatched some malai kofta and cheesy garlic naan and a sneaky gin and tonic. From tomorrow, it all begins again. See more

07.01.2022 Music is such a big part of my life, and training is such a great opportunity to listen to music I otherwise wouldn't have time to. . I am currently blasting A Day To Remember! 04.01.2022 Had an awesome time checking out Apex Strength in Melbourne with OG client Jake, thanks so much to @anthonykrznar for showing us around! . This place has one of the most awesome vibes I have experienced at a gym, I cannot recommend it enough. . See you guys next time!

03.01.2022 This past Saturday I had the pleasure of competing in the Raw Strength Open, my eighth powerlifting competition. This was also my first time platform coaching, as I bought in my client and friend @xpunk73x into his first competition. . Jake did an awesome job, hitting PBs across the board with a 110kg squat, 85kg bench and 140kg deadlift for a 335kg total. This followed a year during which he made huge positive changes in his life in terms of training and nutrition, but also ...had to deal with a very troublesome back which forced us to drop the weight right down on his squats and deadlifts, tidy up his form and rebuild from square one. With these numbers on the board, I am so keen for us to get back into training and work on increasing that total in a big way come March! . I'd like to give an enormous shoutout to the entire community. It was amazing to see so many familiar faces, but a bunch of friendly new ones too. I love how we are gradually seeing more and more people from around the state, from different gyms and with different backgrounds all coming together with the common goal of shifting some serious tin! You should all be incredibly proud not only of how you lifted but the way you represented yourselves and made this event so much fun. . Thanks so much to @rawstrengthtas for organizing the event and for coaching me on the day, @catalyst_sap for doing my nutrition, all the volunteers (you are the real heavy lifters and know who you are), @mattyp.cr3 for providing these absolutely incredible photos, and to everybody else who made this possible. See you all next time! . . . #punchtrains #strongstoryfit #hobartfitness #tasmaniafitness #fitnessmotivation #fitness #rawstrengthtas #catalystsap #strengthcoach #powerliftingaustralia #powerlifting #worldpowerlifting #squat #bench #deadlift See more
