19.01.2022 Update : HAPPY NEWS ! Recently, I emailed the local priest of Holy Ascension Orthodox Church but hadn’t heard back . I assumed he is very busy and just hadn’t ...gotten to it yet . Still , I started to worry that I sent it to the wrong email or it got lost . I prayed and asked for patience . So today I am busy with a bunch of other things and very suddenly felt a very strong urge to go to the church .I think to myself , go another day , you’re in the middle of something , It’s probably not even open due to Covid and their calendar , etc . Well , I felt greatly compelled , the feeling just wouldn’t leave me . I decided to drive over there . It’s a bit of a drive and I had no appointment. What was I doing ? I ignored my self flagellation and proceeded anyway . Well , when I got there the doors were locked - not open So , I walked around back to admire the garden . Lo and behold ! The Priest was coming out from a meeting with a church member ! He smiled and greeted me warmly and asked if he could help me . Lord have Mercy . He remembered my name from the email and then proceeded to give me a tour of everything and spent an hour with me answering questions and sharing his love of Orthodoxy with me . He even gave me a book to get started with . He invited me to come to services this weekend and start my journey to Orthodoxy ! Glory to God ! A big heartfelt thank you to everyone here who encouraged me and to ArchPriest John Mikita and to the Holy Spirit who I feel must have kicked ( nudged ? ) me out the door today . Praise God in His Mercy and Wisdom . I am SO happy See more

16.01.2022 The Great MedicineWhen you don’t live with Christ, you live in melancholy, in sorrow, in anxiety and in worry. You don’t live properly. Then all sorts of abnormalities appear, even in our organism. The body’s affected, the endocrinal glands, the liver, the gall bladder, the pancreas and the stomach. People tell you: ‘If you want to be healthy, drink your milk in the morning, eat your egg, your butter and a couple of slices of toast’. But if you live with Christ, if you love C...hrist, you’ll be fine with an orange or an apple. The best medicine is to devote yourself to the worship of Christ. Everything’s cured. Everything works properly. God’s love transforms everything, reconstructs it, sanctifies it, rectifies it, changes it and transmutes it

12.01.2022 God Knows EverythingOnce Elder Porphyrios and his three spiritual children were tired and decided to hail a taxi to get to the monastery. A taxi appeared at a distance. The elder’s three companions decided to pull it over. Don’t worry, the elder said, the taxi will stop on its own. However, when you get into it, you mustn’t talk to the taxi driver, only I will talk to him. That’s exactly what happened. The car stopped, even though they had not waved their hands. Everybod...y got into it and the elder said where they were heading. When the taxi driver started driving, he almost immediately started accusing the clergy of all mortal sins. Every time he dropped out another accusation, he turned to the spiritual children of the elder sitting behind him, asking, Huh, guys? What do you say to that? They were sitting silently out of obedience. When the taxi driver realized that they were not going to answer him, he turned to Father Porphyrios and asked, What can you say, Daddy? What’s in the papers is all true, isn’t it? The elder replied, Son, I’ll tell you a short story. I will tell it only once, you won’t have to listen to it twice. There was a man who lived in a certain place (he named it), who had an elderly neighbor who owned a large plot of land. One night he killed the neighbor and buried him in the ground. Then, using forged documents, he seized the neighbor’s land and sold it. And you know what he bought with that money? He bought a taxi. As soon as the taxi driver heard the story, he shuddered, then pulled over to the roadside and shouted, Shut up, Father. Only you and I know about it. God knows it too, Father Porphyrios replied. He told me to inform you about it. Behold, repent and reform your life.

07.01.2022 Who is Jesus Christ? 1. In chemistry, He turned water into wine. 2. In biology, He was born without being conceived normally. 3. In physics, He defied the... law of gravity when He ascended to heaven. 4. In economics, He countered the law of increasing relative costs by feeding 5,000 people 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread. 5. In medicine, He healed the sick and blind without giving them any medicine. 6. In history, He is the beginning and the end, alpha and omega. 7. In government, He can be called a wonderful counselor. 8. In religion, He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14: 6) He had no servants and yet he was called MASTER. He did not have a diploma and yet he was called TEACHER. He had no medication and yet he was called HEALER. He had no army and yet they feared Him. He did not wage any war and yet he conquered the world. He did not commit any crime and yet they crucified Him. He was buried and still lives today and will live forever. Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on us! See more

05.01.2022 #Inappropriate #Clothing! After the Liturgy, Father Pishoy (December 6, 1931 March 21, 1979) noticed a woman whom he had never seen. The woman was wearing clo...thes which were completely inappropriate to wear in the house of God. When the woman came to him, he smiled at her and asked her kindly, Are you not from the church? She replied, I am not. Father Pishoy asked her for her address and about her family, and took her contact information without commenting on anything else. The next day, Father Pishoy went to her house. The woman greatly rejoiced and introduced the priest to her husband and kids. Father Pishoy came to realize that this family was incredibly far from the Lord, and that they had just moved to Sporting (a place in Alexandria, Egypt). All of this occurred to him, and yet Father Pishoy did not comment on anything else. He decided to pray for this family by name, to remember them in every Liturgy, and to visit them frequently. Indeed, he visited this family very often, and sat with them for long periods of time, reading the Holy Bible and introducing them to the Lord more and more. He always invited them to attend the Divine Liturgies and Vespers prayers, as well as the feasts of the saints. The family indeed started attending the church services very frequently. In all of this, Father Pishoy never dared to comment on the behavior or clothes of any of them. One morning, this woman approached him again, and Father Pishoy noticed a complete change in her clothesshe was dressed very appropriately! She carried with her a large bag filled with clothes, saying, Father, take this bag and burn its contents; I don’t want them anymore! Father Pishoy questioned, Why? She replied, I don’t know how I used to wear these clothes. I don’t want or need them any more! Father Pishoy answered, Well, give them to someone who might need them! She refused, describing that these are the clothes of iniquity, and that it wouldn’t be right to distribute them. Father Pishoy used the same method which the Lord Jesus used to return the lost; it was not with rebuke. He focused on renewing the person from the inside first. The outside was due to change as an effect. Source: #orthodoxsaintstories

04.01.2022 A 17-year-old young monk from Georgia, who was diagnosed with cancer, received the Great Schema and tonsured a Schemamonk Monk Andrew (Milorava) had lived in m...onastic tonsure for just four months before passing away from a soft tissue tumor at the age of 17. His tonsure took place in the hospital where he spent the last months of his earthly life. Before his repose, Monk Andrew composed a stirring last will and testament in which he asked forgiveness of anyone he may have hurt, and encouraged all to live fervent Orthodox lives, regularly praying and attending Church services, and partaking of Holy Communion with due preparation. In conclusion, he wrote, Obey the commandments of our Lord Jesus Christ, and may the protection of the Mother of God always be upon you. Amen. His mother recalls how he began attending church and singing in the choir from the age of 10. He had a desire to enter the monastic life from sixth grade. He was often seen crossing himself, whenever he saw or thought something unworthy. He was diagnosed with his disease at the age of 16. He told his parents that his guardian angel had already informed him of it. His spiritual father visited him and blessed him to receive the monastic tonsure, which took place in the hospital on April 17. After his tonsure he prayed constantly, refusing to watch TV. Many other children came to him, asking his prayers. Three days before his repose, he told his mother, Mama, I’m already not here, and he awaited his final breath with joy, that others would no longer be burdened by him. His last words were. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner, Monk Andrew
