21.01.2022 Mighty good men at work at St Sava College. Check it out! Concreting of the southern side of our main building was completed by an amazing team of volounteers! North side is happening this coming weekend. Getting ready for opening in January 2021.

21.01.2022 PRINCIPAL APPOINTED TO ST SAVA COLLEGE Following an extensive search for the founding principal of St.Sava College, His Grace Bishop Siluan and the Board are pleased to announce that Mrs Anastasia Anne Nicolaou has been appointed to welcome our first student cohort and guide our students on their Path to Life at St.Sava College. Anne has extensive experience as teacher and administrator in a number of very reputable schools. She spent thirteen years at St Spyridon Greek Ort...hodox College in Kingsford, initially as teacher, then as Deputy Principal and Acting Head Mistress of the Junior School. Following that she was employed at Ascham School in Edgecliff and Canberra Grammar, before transferring to St.Catherine’s Girls School in Waverley, where she will see the year out as Deputy Head of the Junior School. Anne is of Greek heritage and is a member of the Greek Orthodox Parish in Kingsford. Her distinguished academic and professional credentials are underpinned by the emphatic endorsements of her previous employers, and we are grateful to God that a person of such calibre and dedication will lead the charge in Varroville. Welcome to St.Sava College Anne! DOBRO NAM DOSLI !

21.01.2022 Close Encounters No, aliens have not descended on St Sava College! But the encounter with our first student cohort at the end of January is getting very close, and our erstwhile team is pushing hard to get the job finished. Curb and guttering is all but done and God willing, bitumen goes down next week. As with most building projects, we have encountered unforeseen expenses, so if you can help with a tax deductible contribution there is no better time and place than right here and right now! Remember, its for our children!

14.01.2022 His Grace Bishop Siluan welcomes the Board of St. George Cathedral Church in Cabramatta to St. Sava College, to view the progress of building and civil works taking place.

13.01.2022 Last week His Grace Bishop Siluan had the pleasure of welcoming the Board of St. George Cathedral Church in Cabramatta to St. Sava College, to view the progress of building and civil works taking place. But more importantly it was an opportunity to witness the delivery of Australian sandstone which will be used to clad the St Sava Tower. Charlie Sarkis of Gosford Quarries explained that the custom cut stone would be used to clad the entire brick structure from base to roof. D...own the track, carved marble ornaments will be added to finish off the tower. The St Sava Tower will be the symbol of our College and as such it is important to build it true to tradition, using local stone. Bishop Siluan called for a donor to sponsor the not insignificant cost to complete the tower. Saturday was an opportunity to invite the Kumovi of St. Sava College to come and tour the site and see the more recent development. During the afternoon tea break, Kumovi of the College Dušan and Marija Milakovi were moved to make a further contribution of $10,000 to the Building Fund. The Board of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese Aged Care and Education Property Fund, joined the entourage to view completion of work on the chapel and classrooms, and thereafter dropped in to see visit the various sub-committees meeting in various rooms. Education, IT, Fundraising and Building committees were busy doing what they regularly do in preparation for the imminent opening of St. Sava College in January 2021. The pressure is on to finish and make ready for the big day, but with Faith and love, we can do it. For those of you who have already donated, many thanks, and to those who are yet to do so, thank you in advance. To donate please visit: https://www.stsavacollege.net/donate

10.01.2022 ВЕЧНАА ПАМАТ! MEMORY ETERNAL!

09.01.2022 All for one and one for all! School uniforms express many values and can make dramatic statements. The inaugural SSC uniform is no exception to this rule. By its very nature, a uniform expresses 'community', since all its wearers present in one of a variety of its options. In its cuts and shapes it exemplifies the God-given uniqueness and complementarity of the sexes - both male and female. Its versatility allows the wearer to dress for a variety of occasions, from formal to casual and sporting, The styling expresses humility and the lashings of red - joy! After all, red is the colour of the Resurrection of Christ, the ultimate joy, the fulfilment of our motto: The Path to Life!

09.01.2022 As is the pious custom amongst Orthodox Christians, we begin all undertakings with prayer. The appointment of Mrs Anne Nicolaou as founding principal of St.Sava College, is the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Australia, and for this reason His Grace Bishop Siluan invited Anne and members of the College Board to bow their heads in prayer, specifically for Anne, at the Principal Commissioning Service last night at our cathedral in Cabram...atta. In his instructive yet touching words at the conclusion of the service His Grace imparted the following: It is a well-known fact that a good school rests on the shoulders of a capable principal, good educators, and a competent board of directors. St Sava’s College, being a startup school, brings with it excitement and motivation, but also its own challenges. For this reason, we have initiated this journey with a prayerful petition to God, to grant His blessings and holy commission to you for the work you are about to begin. Your task will not be an easy one, however, you will not be alone. You will have the full support of myself as bishop, the clergy, teachers and the Board of Directors, but more importantly, you will have Christ, the Holy Theotokos, St Sava and all the saints looking over you. We wish Anne Nicolaou every success and pray that God grant her many years!

07.01.2022 A new music video from the Emmy Award-winning actor and musician and convert to holy Orthodoxy Jonathan Jackson dedicated to the holy sites of the persecuted Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo was published on June 28 on the YouTube page of the Foundation of Hilandar Monastery. The song, Kosovo (Joy of All Who Sorrow), was written out of love for the Serbian people and Church, making a personal, artistic and prayerful contribution to the preservation of Kosovo and Metohija,... reads the description under the video. The video is full of touching scenes of sacred Orthodox sites and the faithful Orthodox people of Kosovo, where the Church faces continuous persecution. Born into a Protestant family, Jackson embraced the Orthodox faith in 2012 after seeking for the true faith of the martyrs and the Holy Fathers. Since then, Jackson has been a frequent pilgrim to Mt. Athos and other holy sites of the Orthodox Church. He has dedicated a number of artistic works to holy Orthodoxy. Most recently, he played St. Joseph the Hesychast in a documentary dedicated to the great 20th-century Athonite elder. The new music video was produced by the Foundation of the Holy Monastery of Hilandar with the blessing of Archimandrite Metodije, the abbot of Hilandar Monastery, the Serbian monastery on Mt. Athos. 06.01.2022 THE WHITE EAGLES LANDED! Somebody once said that a clean, neat desk is the sign of a very sick mind. This may or may not be partly or entirely true, and a lively discussion on the topic could provide for a very interesting evening amongst friends. However, there can be no argument that building sites are notorious when it comes to accumulating junk and waste materials, and at some point, somebody needs to roll up their sleeves and re-establish order. Until the other day, th...e College building site was screaming for intervention, and the cry for help was finally heard! An enthusiastic team of mums, dads, junior players and board members from our own Bonnyrigg White Eagles swooped into Varroville, and in the space of six hours de-cluttered and cleaned the entire site. It was truly amazing! Led by St. Sava College Board member Zoran Zoki Petkovic, Portugese, Hungarians and others, happily joined their Serb team mates in a gargantuan effort to remove all manner of accumulated junk from in and round the main building and the nearby storage shed. The young and the not so young, began by filling several enormous garbage skips with refuse, after which the ever vigilant mums carefully vacuumed and wiped down the entire building internally. It was like one of those Spray ’n Wipe ads on TV, except that this was real rubbish and real filth, and it was not gone in a flash. It took time, dedication and effort. What was most evident to all who witnessed this incredible show of community support, was the enthusiasm and care that this group of 35 demonstrated for our Church and community’s most important undertaking. Somebody said they saw tears in Bishop Siluan’s eyes when he saw the photos attached below. Our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to: Nikola Jugovi, Zoran Petkovi, Slavica Petkovi, Siniša Kos, Svetlana Kos, Ljubiša Kos, Danijela Kos, Dragan Škori, Branka Škori, Miroslav Lojanica, Ištvan Juhasz, Jock Dos Santos, Paula Dos Santos, Borislav Ciganovi, Manuela Ciganovi, Snežana Babi, Nedeljko Vukeli, Relja Svitlica, Elvis Strbac, and Nikola Pozder. And a huge, immeasurable thank you to the youngsters: Stevan Lojanica, Marko Lojanica, Gabriel Dos Santos, Nikola Škori, Nemanja Škori, Dušan Ciganovi, Lazar Ciganovi, Todor Ciganovi, Maksim Petkovi, Stefan Babi, Aleksandar Bojani, Ana Kos, Stefan Kos, Uroš Kos, Luka Kos, Lazar Kos and Kristina Kos. They are probably too young to have thought about it yet, but in the not too distant future, they will hopefully see their own children attending the school they are working to help open in 2021. GOD GRANT THEM MANY YEARS!
