19.01.2022 What’s your very best idea for our school? Parents of students at Catholic schools in the Cairns Diocese have been sent an email from CES Executive Director Bill Dixon, asking them to complete a short survey identifying their priorities and ideas for our schools over the next four years. The link to the survey was provided in the email. A key question asks parents: If there is one thing that we could do in the next four years that would make a significant positive difference ...for their children’s education, what would it be? We’d like as many parents as possible to respond to the survey to ensure the voice of our families is heard. Please check your emails to access the survey

15.01.2022 Recently, some of us were fortunate enough to embark on a camp, which is combined with our Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure. We were away two nights and had the opportunity to connect with our peers and the staff, we formed great friendships and learnt a lot. We were given the chance to go out of our comfort zone and connect with what life outside of school will be like. From 8.00 am to 5.00 pm we 'worked' completing different components of our certificate, outside of this we took turns cooking and cleaning. This course gives us several tickets for the future, for example, working at heights plus the overall qualification at the end, this is a great introduction to the drilling and mining industry. 14.01.2022 Yesterday was a wonderful day of celebrations, with the opening mass, dedication of the Holy Spirit Centre and commissioning of the 2021 College Leaders. It was an honour to have past Principals, Mr Gerry Simon and Mrs Ida Pinese attend to witness such a significant occasion. Through their visioning, the Holy Spirit Centre stands before us today.

11.01.2022 St Stephens Catholic College won the Far North Queensland Inter school Chess competition which was held at Cairns State High School recently. The team which consisted of Iago Roche-Maxwell (captain), Jack Burnside, Harry Heath and Dante Cadorin, held out some strong competition from St Augustines College and Cairns High to qualify for the state finals which will be held in October. Iago Roche-Maxwell was instrumental in the win after taking out a perfect eight wins from eig...ht rounds, which earned him first place in the individual standings. The team will head to Brisbane hoping to improve on their result from last year, which saw them as the second best regional team in the state and tied for seventh place overall. Iago was the best regional secondary player in the state at last years state finals and was runner up for Board 1 overall. Iago is confident that the team has the ability to perform well at this years tournament. Pictured are (from left to right): Dante Cadorin, Iago Roche-Maxwell, Jack Burnside and Harry Heath.
