25.01.2022 I've been out and about through some of the district today and came across this bit of modern Mallee pioneering ingenuity I'll share more of my journey in the coming days, but who can tell me where this double barrel fire contraption is? (This is not just a this is a work of art!)

21.01.2022 Yesterday I took a morning ride along the river & it was great to see so many other people out and about enjoying the riverfront walking paths. We have so much to be grateful for - the improvements to the boat ramp area, the new adventure playground and the new skatepark to name a few. I favour a walkway linkage to the CBD, riverside restaurants & cafe's, boutique and/or eco accommodation - that's just a few ideas (and they're not necessarily new) - but help me out people of Swan Hill... what do you want?

20.01.2022 Out and about in the municipality and I took some time to reminisce where I grew up. I'm a local through and through and have a passion for the success of our region. Agriculture is such an important part of our local economy and we need to support the basics of infrastructure so it can continue to grow.

17.01.2022 Here's how the Council voting system works...

15.01.2022 Communities create connection for our people. This supports well-being, mental health, and creates a framework where people care for each other...good old human decency! With the Covid situation in 2020, communities have been gutted! Sporting clubs and other community organisations will need significant support to get up and running and somewhat back to normal in 2021, and these clubs and groups play a major role in reconnecting our people.

15.01.2022 Economic Development and the attraction of new businesses is crucial to provide direct and indirect employment and to give existing businesses opportunity to grow. Mallee Hay is a success story for the municipality. Not only has their establishment at Ultima allowed farmers to expand and change cropping rotations, but it has also been the catalyst for creating an intermodal freight hub for rail freight. It is imperative that we have a proactive Economic Development Unit at Council, and Councillors who support business development and can negotiate with private enterprise and higher levels of government to see new businesses and services established in our region. 10.01.2022 Tonight I enjoyed a meal at one of Swan Hill's fine restaurants Java Spice and then had the privilege of spending some time with Trish to hear some of the journey. Unfortunately Pete had left early to rest his DIY wound from repairing his Covid sign!! (We had a favourite go to meal the Red Curry Duck & tried out the Malaysian goat ) Pete & Trish moved to Swan Hill in 1999 when Pete got a job as an Indonesian teacher at Swan Hill College, then went on to pursue their dream of... creating and opening a fine Indonesian dining experience. It also happens to be on the site of my grandparents former home Mert & Una Scott! Trish shared about her love of the Swan Hill community and all it has to offer for families, and how it has been such a wonderful place to pursue their dreams. If elected to Council it's one of my goals to create an environment in this municipality where people get the opportunity to pursue their dreams, and it should be part of the Council's role to facilitate this. We need entrepreneurial spirit to continue business growth in the region. What's your dream? Or if that question is too hard, at least share your favourite Java Spice dish! See more

09.01.2022 People that know me well know that I can be a bit of an overthinker I often get asked "Do you ever stop thinking?"Ummmm... The answer is probably "No". But someone famous once said "to think is to create", so create I do! Big plans. Big opportunities. Big visions. We weren't created to have limited thinking!... So here's a BIG vision for you to contemplate to improve Swan Hill... The only rail freight through town these days (as far as I'm aware) is from grain storages at Piangil and Woorinen. So what if we could drop a new rail line from somewhere near Woorinen onto the track at Ultima and eliminate the railway line North of McCallum St? That would get rid of at least 8 crossings between Swan Hill and Woorinen, completely open up that section of riverfront for development, allow expansion of the Karinie St industrial area to the North, and remove heavy freight off the rail from Swan Hill through to well south of Kerang. Even better, move the Swan Hill Railway Station to the South end of Swan Hill & completely open up connection of the CBD to the riverfront! Sure, it's a big vision, and it's not a Council project, but it is Council's role to advocate higher levels of government for funding for projects, and to have a vision for our community. We need a visionary Council with BIG ideas to drive growth, prosperity and improved amenity in the region, or, we just stay the way we've been for the last 20 or more years. Which do you want? What's a BIG vision you have? And who is that famous person that said "to think is to create"? Keep on thinking... Authorised by Stuart King, 1 McNeill Court, Swan Hill

06.01.2022 I want to be part of a Council that proactively supports and promotes residential land development and availability. We already have a shortage of housing in the municipality and as a Council we need to have residential (and commercial) land available to be in a position to readily take advantage of announcements like this in tonight's Federal Budget... The Federal Budget has included an extension of the First Home Buyers Scheme, meaning another 10,000 first home buyers will... have access to the First Home Loan Deposit scheme under a fresh extension. That means first home buyers snapping up a new or newly built home will be able to access loans with deposits as small as 5 per cent. The Government will guarantee up to 15 per cent of the loan. This extension is available until 30 June 2021. Authorised by Stuart King, 1 McNeill Crt, Swan Hill

03.01.2022 The Chisholm Reserve Motorsports Complex is unique - so much variety in a single location, and a boon for our local events economy. Let's get Chisholm Reserve revving
