22.01.2022 Jack is one of our Ambassador scholarship winners currently on exchange in France who will be returning home next month. Jack sent us an update recently and we loved hearing about the new foods he has been trying plus what he has been up to with his family and friends. Here is Jack’s update: During the second part of my summer holidays in August, I spent my time living in a caravan by the beach and seeing friends in the town of Quimper nearby. The highlight of my summer holi...days was when staying at my host grandparents house, finding myself before a full plate of cooked snails!! They were surprisingly not that bad! That’s not the end of the funky foods I indulged in during my holidays either; I ate horse meat, pheasant and even goose!! When I wasn’t eating, I was down the beach, surfing with my French host cousin, we built a strong relationship despite our vast age difference and she was a real help to my French! I have been back at school for a month now too !! It has been quite difficult to habituate to the new norms enforced by the COVID-19 crisis; all students are obliged to wear masks the whole day and use hand sanitiser whenever entering a room. I have, notwithstanding the social restrictions, managed to make many welcoming French friends who help me improve my French at every chance (I help them with their English too). Moreover, I cannot believe it’s pretty much October and I will be leaving before I know it! Time has flown by and I feel like my time in France is slipping from my grasp. At first, 300+ days overseas seemed like ages, and now I’m wondering where all that time has gone!! Jack COVID-19 travel restrictions continue but we are still accepting applications for future programs. If you would like to go on your own exchange in mid-late 2021 and want to reduce the price of your program, then we have some good news for you! The deadline for Scholarship & Early Bird Discount applications is, Saturday 31st October 2020 for our standard programs departing between April September 2021. 18.01.2022 Martina from Italy chose to go on exchange to Australia. Hearing updates like these about Martina’s experience in a different country makes us really love and appreciate what a unique opportunity an exchange program provides high school students around the world. I have always thought that one of the most important things in life is taking risks. Last year I decided to go on an adventure, do an exchange year in Australia. I didn’t have any idea of what to expect but it didn’...t take me a long time to fall in love with this amazing country and its lifestyle. Now that my experience is nearly finished I can say that was the best decision I have ever made and I’m really lucky to have had this opportunity and I'm glad I got to know all the amazing people here. I visited wonderful landscapes, made new friends for life and I now have a second family and home. Now I know that the world is much bigger than it seems, this experience has taught me a lot, the way that I look at the world and how I think is different, I learned a lot about myself and how to be happy and positive in spite of everything. I lived every single moment and I could not be happier to have taken this risk. Martina We are currently working towards our next intake of students arriving at the end of January. If you are interested in welcoming an overseas exchange student into your home please PM us for more information.

17.01.2022 To all the Dad’s of our exchange students, the Dad’s who host our exchange students and our local coordinators, we wish you a wonderful day. You are deeply appreciated! Happy Father's Day... Thank you for all that you do.

15.01.2022 We offer scholarships and discounts worth over $100,000 every year with the next deadline closing in 24 days. Vivien, one of our Volunteer & Community Involvement scholarship winners recently sent us an update of what she has been up to in September. Here is Vivien’s recent update:..."Last month, I got to visit Narbonne, Montpellier and Pays-Basque with my host family. We tried local specialties, went to an amusement park and swam in the Atlantic Ocean. In addition to the tr...avels, I played at the nearby Accrobranche (treetop adventure park) and inflatable Aquapark with my host brother to get out of the house. September was marked by the start of the 2020-2021 school year. It was relieving to finally return to school after more than 5 months of hiatus. As I am in a new class of Terminale (Year 12), I’ve been able to make new friends and meet other exchange students from Belgium, Sweden and Japan. Most of my days are spent at school (France has looong school hours) and evenings at home finishing homework. With so much content and exposure, I have noticed an exponential improvement in my French skills. I’m participating more in classes such as through group class presentations, and have been able to achieve a decent level on assessments. We’ve had weekend getaways to Luchon and Coursan to visit my host grandmothers, and this weekend, we’re heading to Pau to visit a family friend. The busy school days, homework deadlines and scheduled activities have made this month fly by so fast, but I can’t wait to find out what October will bring. Vivien We are so proud of our exchange students. It takes a lot of courage to live on the other side of the world. Life is for living, learning and growing. If you are planning to go on exchange in 2021 and want to reduce the price of your program, then we have some good news for you! The deadline for Scholarship & Early Bird Discount applications is, Saturday 31st October 2020 for our standard programs departing between April September 2021. 07.01.2022 Where are they now? Josie went on exchange to Canada in 2016, we caught up with Josie to find out how life has been since exchange with 5 quick questions. 1. How did exchange contribute to your life?... My exchange year was the best year of my life! It was an adventure that was fun, challenging and incredibly rewarding! It improved my self-esteem, confidence and maturity all while making me more independent. 2. What advice or tips would you give a student considering an exchange? Just do it! It will be the best experience of your life. It's an incredible opportunity that allows you to emerge yourself into a new country. You will make lifelong friendships and have a second family on the other side of the world (which is always a good excuse to go travelling!). You are given so many opportunities to do things you would never do in your home country. It will be the best decision you've ever made! 3. Are you in touch with your host family or friends you made overseas? Yes! I am extremely close with my host family, they are what made my exchange so incredible. We FaceTime at least once a month and I'm always texting my host mum. I went back to Vancouver to visit my host family for Christmas in 2018. It was so good to see them all again and see how much my little host siblings had grown up since I had left. My host family is currently in the process of planning their trip to come visit me in Australia. One of my best friends I made on exchange, we also FaceTime at least once a month and stay connected using social media (snapchat, Instagram etc.). I have also stayed in contact with the two Australian girls I flew to Canada with. 4. What is your favourite memory from exchange? I have so many incredible memories from my exchange! My favourite memory would have to be when my host family took me to Kelowna in the Summer. We hired a boat for the day and went tubing on the lake! Sooooo much fun! Another favourite memory was when I did the New York exchange tour with all the other exchange students in Canada, I made so many new friends from all over the world! Some other highlights of my exchange include Disneyland Trip, Camping in the USA, Hawaii Trip, Skiing at Whistle & Toronto Trip. 5. What are you up to these days? I am currently in my final year at university studying International Hotel and Tourism Management and Business. My exchange experience gave me the travel bug so after I graduate I plan on travelling for six months before securing a graduate position. Josie entered our video competition back in 2016, you can check out her video on Vimeo - https://vimeo.com/187745503
