24.01.2022 At Student Horizons, the safety of the students, teachers and staff remains at the core of everything we do. Safety is always number one. Over the last 8 weeks the team at Student Horizons have implemented global best practice around covid safe protocols in line with the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). We are delighted to now be accredited with the ’Safe Travels Stamp’ by the WTTC. Our approach to adhering to the Global Protocols is focused across 3 key areas:... - Our People we ensure our team are trained to the highest safety standards and are experts in Covid Safe travel. - Our Partners we ensure that every Student Horizons partner (airline, hotel, transport provider) shares our commitment to Covid Safe travel and aligns with the WTTC Global Safety Protocols. - Our Policies and Procedures we have adapted our Safety Management, Risk Mitigation and Incident Management frameworks to make them relevant in a Covid world. We have developed a series of contingency plans for covid related situations and scenarios such as quarantine and managed isolation. We envision a future of student travel which is safe, secure, seamless and provides an authentic and meaningful experience to the students across the journey. #togetherintravel #safetravels

23.01.2022 September marks the fifth anniversary of the Sustainable Development Goals - the to-do list for a better and more sustainable future for all. The 17 #GlobalGoals are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives and prospects of everyone, everywhere.
22.01.2022 Right now, we are playing our part and immersing ourselves in global discussions around consumer protection to identify global best practices which we will implement in our business. We are communicating with international organisations such as The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) who are at the forefront of global trends and looking at how we can implement new global best practice within our business.
21.01.2022 Throw back Thursday. The Jazz night of the ASPIRE International Youth Music Festival in 2019 was an absolute blast. For the team at Student Horizons it was a challenge to put on such an impressive music festival event over 4 days across multiple venues back in July 2019 and yet the crew rose to the challenge as normal and delivered an experience for life the students will never forget. We are excited by the interest already building in Australia and across the Tasman for 2023.

18.01.2022 On my desk in our garage (our makeshift Student Horizons ‘Head Office’) sits this photograph. It puts a smile on my face. The Covid-19 crisis and the associated catastrophic impact on Student Horizons (and the rest of the travel and tourism industry) and on our people has shaken my resolve at times over the last 6 months. It has shaken my steadfastness on the odd occasion to keep going. This photo motivates me to persevere and to persist and to keep going. It kicks me into ac...tion. It boots out any self-pity creeping in. I remember how incredibly fortunate I am. It reminds me of the significant value one gains through travel. It affirms to me how important Student Horizons work is, that we have real purpose and we are making a difference in society. Fundamentally, I feel a sense of enormous gratitude to be serving in a field that has a social impact in the world. I landed in South Africa in 1996. I was eighteen. On reflection, it was a very special time in the history of the country with a great sense of hope in the air. The apartheid had only recently ended, and Nelson Mandela was of course President, the country’s first black head of state. I would work at two school ‘placements’ during my time in South Africa. I would ............. #teaching #experiencesforlife

13.01.2022 Today is R U OK? day. A lot of people are doing it tough out there at the moment...so don't forget to check in on each other. This year, learn what to say after R U OK? so you can keep the conversation going when someone says "No, I'm not OK".
13.01.2022 Safety has always been a cornerstone pillar of how we operate and we have an enviable track record of safely running over 400 trips and taking over 12,000 students overseas. Organising safe travel is a specialised business and once educational travel resumes, we will be operating to the highest levels of Covid Safe travel standards. #safetravels #covidsafetravel

11.01.2022 103 years ago, a battle raged for 103 days on the Western Front. The Third Battle of Ypres, also known as the Battle of Passchendaele, was a campaign of the First World War, fought by the Allies against the German Empire. On this day 103 years ago, New Zealand forces would suffer 2700 casualties NZ’s blackest day. In the space of just a few hours on the 12th October 1917 hundreds of kiwi men would perish. Three years ago we were privileged and honoured to lead a group of 10... kiwi students and two representatives from the New Zealand Ministry of Education to Belgium for the centennial commemoration, where the students would play an important part in the opening of the New Zealand Passchendaele Memorial Garden on the morning of the 12th October 2017. The Passchendaele Society in collaboration with Veterans Affairs’ New Zealand, The Ministry of Education and Student Horizons made this experience happen for the 10 students from secondary schools across the North and South Islands of New Zealand.
