23.01.2022 It's a very special time of year in Victoria's High Country. Many of you would normally be visiting us this month to witness the spectacular sprouting of autumn... colours around towns such as Bright, Harrietville, Mt Beauty, Beechworth, Mansfield, Mitta Mitta and more. However, since you can't visit us this autumn, the Instagram loving local residents of Bright & Surrounds are helping to send the seasonal colour to you via your phones. To see the state of the autumn leaves this year, there are a couple of handy hashtags you can follow on Instagram, including: #BrightAutumn2020 #BrightandSurroundsAutumn2020 #HarrietvilleAutumn2020 #MtBeautyAutumn2020 #MyrtlefordAutumn2020 Photo credits: Bright Mystic Valley (IG/@brightmystic), IG/@jamesofbright, IG/@bucklandriverhouse, IG/@rachm073, IG/@carol.binder.73, IG/@toni.limon

08.01.2022 Sorry but it has been a long time since we have posted but as many of you will be aware, it has been a tumultuous summer for the region but thankfully all the t...owns are fine and getting back to normal business. We are extremely grateful to all the services that contributed to the firefighting efforts - CFA, DWELP, SES, Forest Fire Management, Victoria Police etc. And to all the other agencies that are assisting with the region to recover from the social and economic impacts of the bushfires. Your support of events like this will be an important part of that recovery. There are lots of little signs that summer is drawing to a conclusion and that autumn is only days away. So we will be posting more regularly to keep you informed of activities and events happening as part of the Bright Autumn Festival as well as showcasing some of the beautiful colours and seasonal produce. The photo is from earlier this week of some trees in Porepunkah making an early transition to autumn. Some of the little signs of the approaching change of seasons.

05.01.2022 Yesterday we had rain, glorious rain . The rain has lifted spirits and dampened smoke (for the time being). We are looking forward to the long weekend as ma...ny visitors come back to our towns and villages to enjoy their Australia Day celebrations with their #emptyesky Image taken two days ago, prior to the rain by Instagram photographer @adventuresofthewhisk of the Ovens River.

04.01.2022 Thank you to everyone for spending Easter at home, we really appreciate it. Although we cant welcome you to our valleys this Autumn, we would like to share im...ages, call it a virtual holiday. To help us out with our virtual holiday we have asked locals to take photos whilst they get the daily dose of exercise. Be sure to jump over to Instagram and follow these hashtags and hopefully you will see a flood of Autumn colour (and maybe a few local secrets). #BrightandSurroundsAutumn2020 #BrightAutumn2020 #DinnerPlainAutumn2020 #HarrietvilleAutumn2020 #MtBeautyAutumn2020 #MyrtlefordAutumn2020 Image thanks to Instagram photographer @bucklandriverhouse

03.01.2022 See you at Howitt Park in Bright this Saturday from 9am. We have over 60 calls, including 5 new stalls. Support the stallholders impacted by the recent bushfire emergency.
01.01.2022 At a time of the year when our towns are normally bustling with summer fun we are currently devastated by the impact of recent bushfires in nearby National Park...s, State Forests and farmland. We are forever grateful to emergency personnel, volunteers, agencies and community members who have helped protect our townships from harm over the past fortnight. We cannot thank these brave people enough. Although our region has been affected economically our thoughts are with those that lost so much more. Due to the huge efforts of the emergency services and favourable weather conditions, the State of disaster is no longer active across our region, however we still have bushfires, with many emergency services working around the clock to keep us safe. We are also experiencing poor air quality as a result of the fires. We are so thankful for the support and kind messages we have received, and we are heartened by the enthusiasm of people to come back to our region. To find out more about visiting Bright & Surrounds and how to best support our region, please click the link https://www.visitbright.com.au/bushfire-information/ #lovebright #harrietville #myrtleford #mtbeauty Image thanks to @carol.binder.73 from Porepunkah looking at Mount Buffalo on Saturday 11 January 2020
