17.01.2022 I am not looking for commentary on the architecture itself, as everyone has different taste. What i would like to instigate is a discussion on building size. On average, the Aussie home is 200Sqm. Japan, the average is 95Sqm. I love the work put out by Sugawaradaisuke. This house is beautiful. It is clean, bright, simple...there is nothing in here that is not needed. I personally love it. So, why do we in Australia, need such large houses? Particularly in a climate where we ...can spend 75%, if not more, of the year outside. Why do we feel the need to provide huge spaces that are rarely used? I live in an 85Sqm post war house. Two of us live here, plus Mickey, the Studio01 dog. We have three bedrooms and one bathroom. Yet, we still have redundant space. If it were not for the home office, that i use day in and day out, we would have two spare bedrooms. As it stand we have one spare bedroom...yes, it gets used when we have friends over, but 95% of the time it sits there vacant. We have two outdoor spaces, decks on the front and on the back. I can honestly say, i spend more time on the front and back deck than i do inside on weekends. Thoughts?
