25.01.2022 Week two and the bear has taken shape! With armature wire and paper, #GuyFredricks has created the resting bear base of his sculpture. The next step is forming the tree with the root system anchored to the bear's back. From the ficus genus, Guy has chosen the mighty fig tree for their vigorous growth, strength and longevity. ... 24.01.2022 #GuyFredericks has been working overtime on his sculpture, now named ‘Bare Mountain’. The tree canopy has successfully been installed and texture has been added to create the bear fur with a fork and impasto medium. With the first layers of acrylic paint going on we’re seeing hints of how the final piece will look. Guy has also applied a layer of ‘flock’ to the tree canopy, softening its appearance. Flock is a medium found in model making of which Guy ha...s an interest in as a hobby. The next stage is all about the details and highlighting them with a dry brush technique. There may also be some potential ‘earth water’ running from ‘bear earth’ in the form of a cascading waterfall or river. Guy is really enjoying the play on words with this artwork. Titled ‘Self Portrait with Daddy in the Daisies watching the field of Planes’, the painting features Emily's trademark, intricate patterns and vibrates with pinks and greens, illustrating shared memories of her wonderful father John Crockford who passed away in January this year.... I made myself a ‘selfie’ with memories of my dad. Because we are the best father and the best daughter, said Emily. "It’s my dream come true. It’s my dream of my Daddy. I watched him flying his beautiful planes in the fields. He made amazing models. This painting is very special to me, because he’s my lovely father." 20.01.2022 Last month #ThomRoberts presented his painting 'The Magic Photocopier goes to Cloud Heaven' to the team at Fuji Xerox Australia. A pretty special moment for Thom who LOVES photocopiers, which are a key part of his creative process. Now taking pride of place in their North Sydney Head Offices, the artwork was inspired by a creative workshop with the Fuji Xerox team, lead by Thom late last year. This particular project is one we’ve really been looking for...ward to. Thom’s design not only looks fantastic, it draws inspiration from our people and products," said Rob Bonotto, General Manager of Corporate Affairs. Thom was joined by Rob, Marco Nizzola and Victor Cory-Burak of Fuji Xerox for the unveiling of the work where the augmented reality element of the work was revealed. 17.01.2022 It's time to check back in with #GuyFredericks and his growing sculpture for the Museum of Futures! With diluted PVA glue and paper Guy has been moulding and smoothing the surface of his sculpture. Guy's next stage is creating the canopy of the giant fig tree. The challenge has been deciding how to add leaves and where they should go. The leaf canopy signifies regrowth and regeneration and is an important element of the overall sculpture.... Look out for the next update when the sculpture will come to life with Guy's application of texture and colour!

08.01.2022 Groundwork has begun on Guy Fredericks' artwork for the Museum of Futures #PandemicPivots project! After considering the feedback received from our community regarding what the future may hold, Guy has developed a concept shaped around the body of a resting bear. Using paper mache to sculpt his design, a technique Guy is known for, he will construct a tree growing off the back of a resting bear. The bear acts as a symbol signifying the s...leeping or hibernating earth and the tree represents hope, renewal, regrowth and regeneration. As the work develops over the coming weeks we will share more details and insights into the artmaking process. We can't wait to see how this work unfolds! See more
