23.01.2022 YOU CAN DO ANYTHING BUT NOT EVERYTHING! - David Allen. . We need to remember that our time on this planet is limited and we only have one life to give it our best. . In these difficult times where we notice things have been very hectic and confidence has been lost we need to make time to slow down and look at the positive things around. The more positive we are the better the energy we bring around. Our business will continue as normal but we will be limiting our meetings... to a minimum and focusing on the technology accessibility for all our communications. 23.01.2022 MISSING MIDDLE - Freo Alternative Our recent project for the @jameshardieau design competition at second place. We are super excited when we can deliver a design that is close to our hearts. .... With a lack of quality #mediumdensity developments around our city we are hoping we can develop this one into a fully priced project in a passive house standard. . For us quality transfers into many layers. It's about the space flexible enough to be modified by the user, it's also about being affordable throughout the lifetime of the building and lastly connection to our community. . Check our bio for more details about the project and let us know what you think. . You can also visit @bdawa To see other amazing projects submitted See more
22.01.2022 THE NORTH SIDE of our Kalamunda House is as good as the south. With a timber pergola for deciduous creepers and enough glazing to fill the space with maximum light. We have now two options to entertain

17.01.2022 THE ESSEX. our latest concept for the corner 15x22m laneway block. This small 3x2 bedroom home is a compact in size with only 130 sqm of living area. The feeling of spaciousness is achieved with the same level internal courtyard that connects ground floor master bedroom with the living area. Provisions of build in seating nooks creates different zones and niches to either connect or separate daily activities. We also love how the angled wall opens up the garden and provides more interest to the space. @ Bayswater, Western Australia
16.01.2022 MID CENTURY - new project concept in Peppermint Grove Beach just 3min off the beach. This forever home is going to take you on a journey from the moment you enter the block. With a feature limestone wall and entry placed between 2 pavilions it will guide you to the stunning view of the wetlands just behind the house. Central alfresco connects and allows for protection from the harsh climate and with a floating upper level viewing terrace, this is going to be an amazing space to enjoy with friends and family @ Peppermint Grove Beach
16.01.2022 Step one in our 2020 aim to be carbon neutral is to switch to 100% Certified GreenPower by the end of this month. Its really very easy to do, any energy company can provide it. Just call your current provider and ask to switch over to their Certified GreenPower supply. Going green means using energy that doesnt release carbon emissions, reducing your carbon ... footprint and supporting renewable energy development. Win, win! Let us know below when you have made the switch! Dale Appleton, DELWP #architectsdeclare #architectsact #carbonneutral #climatechange #bushfirecrisis #australia #actnow See more
16.01.2022 The Helena is a small extension in Guildford to the existing heritage house. Simple but well considered distinguishable space that complements the existing building with a subtle modern approach. Implementing Passive House construction to reduce the noise from the flight path above and increasing comfort levels were paramount to the design brief. This has just been submitted to DA so we are looking forward to the progress in the next few months.
14.01.2022 This week our family has committed to doing a plant based diet. First to see the effect on our well being and secondly to lead a more sustainable life. A PLANT based DIET saves: about 4ooo liters of water, 3sqm of forested land, 13 kg of grain and about 19kg of CO2 equivalent. One animal's life per day. If we can contribute to this in our small way it's a good step forward.
13.01.2022 BUILDING A COMMUNITY. Our latest project for the local school administration building. . With a new entry to school that forms a gate in a physical and mental state, like in a secret garden story, we wanted to emphasize the experience of the fun environment. Space for a school community to gather and kids to play. . We are looking forward to seeing this build this year. @ Mundaring, Sawyers Valley
13.01.2022 L&M HOUSE. New double story extension with upper level living. With a growing wall to the northern side of the house to maximise the vertical gardening and reinvigorated side access of the current house. 12.01.2022 FRIDAY COLOUR FEATURE > A timeless and enduring blue hue, of PANTONE Classic Blue , is elegant in its simplicity. Imprinted in our psyches as a restful color it brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge, aiding concentration, and bringing laser-like clarity. - We always think about the buildings as form and function but there is also one more layer we should add to the stack - the FEEL of the space and how it is perceived. ... - We belive that with the incorporation of colour we can be braver and actually speak the language that has more character and definition. - Most often we can see the language of fitting in and fear from taking risk, but when well approached, this bravery is what can bring us the wow factor. Today we looked at the colour Blue which was cleverly used in the above spaces as a strong feature that can evoke emotions. - Personally we always love to push limits while still be balanced but would love to hear how do you feel about the use of the colour inside. - Photos in order - Fin House by RA Project - Studiopepe at Cafezal - Stocholm based practise Hallerod commercial interiors @ Perth, Western Australia See more

06.01.2022 There are only 5 design principles for the passive home Airtightness Thermal Insulation Passive House Windows Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery... Thermal Bridge Free Construction How simple does this sound? It is evident that the Eastern side of our country has accepted the Passive House standard very positively with lots of new projects both commercial and residential following the concept. We may be taking things more slowly in our beautiful WA, but this doesn't mean we will stay behind for long. The value in investment is apparent and followed by the amazing benefits of constant comfort throughout the year and a healthy indoor environment. How would your life change if you were living in a PassiveHouse? See more
06.01.2022 INDUSTRY I believe is an important factor in our design development, therefore this year I'm joining @bdawa as a committee member to not only support others but also to grow with all. We always learn from each other's and having a community that is strong and supportive serves a vital role on this process .
05.01.2022 BUSINESS SYSTEM. data-driven design is something Javi and me are super passionate about. We have been recently building up our system software to streamline the design process and provide more data to our clients. $$$ Budget orientated designs are very common these days and we were, therefore, wondering what tools might be useful to our clients in order to have more control over the allocations of the project funds. We think more data = more knowledge = more control .... we wanted to ask you one question in this situation, as we think it is important to ask for feedback: do you think, Bill of Quantities would be a useful document to have? what would it help you with? . hit us up with your thoughts See more

01.01.2022 DIAMOND HOUSE The roof system specifically designed by us is a central module that provides a seamless connection of the different pavilions, while still allowing window openings at the junction even with all 4 pavilions connected. . Additionally the volume it creates is definitely a wow factor that keeps your head looking up . We were super excited to drive today to Wundowie to see the space forming up. As you can see our clients were super excited as well and can't wa...it to get it finished. @ Wundowie, Western Australia, Australia See more
