If you ever get the chance to check them out with the kids chroma-colour glasses you’ll see their sea creatures pop off the page like 3D. We have such a great bunch of kids. 17.01.2022 This week our young artists had the freedom to create their own design for print making. Some took a few tries to get their composition right, then used transfer paper to get their design from sketch pad to printing block. Our older group (year 4-7s) were brilliant at following safety procedures to use the sharp carving tools to carve their design into their lino block ready for printing. ... Our larger group of little artists (Rec-year 3) used a variety of tools to make impressions into foam boards for printing. The designs were all so varied and brilliant. We look forward to making more prints with them in a variety of mediums. Such a fun an versatile art project. Stay tuned for details of the kids very own end of year art exhibition in Warooka. 17.01.2022 We had the best arty day ever up at Redwing Farm on Tuesday with participants flocking in from all over the place to get stuck into these art sessions. I can’t wait to get back up there and do more. Such a cool venue! Posca art, tie dye, screen printing and sun exposure prints were our feature projects, and all were equally as fun...although I think tie dye always wins in the fun and magic department. 16.01.2022 Limestone carving! Woah, what an epic mess! This has to have been one of our favourite after school art sessions of the term. These little artists came up with some brilliant designs and went forth practicing their new skills - carving with chisels, hammers, files and sandpaper. ... This session has been much anticipated throughout the term, as we have had our limestone blocks from the Yorke Peninsula Limestone quarry awaiting and teasing these creative hands for weeks. Thanks endlessly to Country Arts SA for supplying our new tools under the Regional Arts Fund grant. Next week is our last week for after-school art sessions for term 4 and we will be marking it with an exhibition of their artwork at Baker Bros. Top Shop Gallery in Warooka. 15.01.2022 Week 1 of our after school art program in Warooka has been a wonderful success! With 13 students already enrolled, we have already established a great dynamic of fun and learning. Week 1 was all about understanding colour. The ‘cool’ watery backgrounds made a great backdrop for our vivid ‘warm’ sea creatures - especially awesome when viewed through the chroma-colour 3D glasses! ... Thanks so much to @countryarts_sa, @ballara.retreat and all the parents of these amazing young artists!

14.01.2022 Introducing Jess! We are super excited to have Jess join us every Tuesday and Thursday for our after-school art sessions as our work experience student / apprentice. The extra pair of eyes and hands is invaluable. She has been helping with the set up, pack up and assisting the kids with their art throughout the sessions.... We are really proud to be able to offer this development opportunity to a young artist.

10.01.2022 This weekend we rocked a couple of silver workshops with a couple of fabulous bunches of ladies up at Redwing Farm. Despite the heat we persevered and all the ladies did an amazing job making their pieces. Each one unique and special. I wish I had photos of them all. Please share your images with me ladies if you have some of your piece. There were some super cool pieces to come out of these sessions! ... Nicola went above and beyond to keep us cool with fans, portable air con, wet towels, lawn sprinklers and ice blocks! What an incredibly caring host. Thank you. A gorgeous venue. 09.01.2022 Some simple charcoal drawings today at our after school art session - utilising some of the gorgeous old bottles found at @ballara.retreat. The uniques shapes, sizes and translucency were brilliant for adding variety and interest to their compositions. Don’t worry Steph, we were very careful with them.

06.01.2022 Sun printing was the highlight of week 2 of our after-school art program, thanks to Country Arts SA and My Little Print Studio. Using cyanotype paint we prepared some card and paper for printing before the session. The kids loved exploring the lovely garden Ballara Art & Lifestyle Retreat for floral treasure to create their print design, and then watching in awe as the sun made the magic happen. The sun never came out for our Thursday session, so we made a start on our lino print designs for next week. Fingers crossed for sunshine this week kids!
