18.01.2022 A big thanks and a Merry Christmas to one and all that have shared our free space with us over these past nine months here at Studio Woodford. It has been an awesome journey watching, building and listening to the room and the space grow into what it is and how it sounds today. The credit has to go to several others to put in the time and effort to help it morph into today’s room and the direction it’s heading. Over the break we hope to add an engineers room and set up the is...olation room so it becomes more functional and not just somewhere to store my drums and spare Fenders. The balance between killing the space for recording and keeping the sound crisp for a good live sound has been pretty straight forward again with the help of some great advice from those with a wealth of experience. It was to be my own personal space till my old mate Jim Douglas saw the studio inside for the first time in its raw state and said it was too good to keep to myself and that I should share it. Jim’s experience with his own studio made his initial advice to share it, set the wheels in motion. Then catching up with primary school mate from the 60s Lloyd Brown sealed the deal to open it to the public. Advice was to rent it out cheap to test the room acoustically, but that was back in early February and by March Covid 19 was a full blown pain in the arse for everyone with all entertainment shutting down and so many out of work. So we decided to offer the place out for free because no one had work, all venues were closed and who cared if the room sounded shit, if it was free, it would be somewhere to jam and let off steam. As you might imagine, It started to get pretty busy and with well over 100 people using it since April. During this time we learnt so much more than we first anticipated. We have met some incredibly talented musicians and also met some sound guys who thought our offer was from the heart and offered us their time and advice. This advice took us to the next stage. It’s human nature to just warm to people like that and their help was/is/has been outstanding. We take our hats off to these guys for their efforts as the proof is now in the sound the room produces. A big thanks to Paul Harrigan, Tim Simmons, Sam Troy, Tom Spellman and Philip Colebrook for both your time and advice with everything from required equipment, room design and all the acoustic experimentation. Still looking for a painter Chief! Thanks again to all those who enjoyed the journey and respected our space as you all did. Happy New Years. See more

12.01.2022 An extremely interesting and fruitful weekend a few weeks back with Sam Troy running our second attempt at capturing some live music inside our walls. Anthony Charlton And BIG SMACK allowed us to mic them up, plug them in and record the day for curiosity. The play back sounded great by the way. It can only get better from here.

08.01.2022 Last week was Jenny O’Brien (Knight) Trio. A lot of talent in this small group.

05.01.2022 Rocked out tonight with Sideshow Annie. Great night, great songs, great people. Finished off with my all time favourite, La Grange.

03.01.2022 Flat Bottom Clouds about today up here at Woodford.

01.01.2022 Time to play a little with some creative lighting. Some old lava lamps, pvc pipe work, some big old gauges I’ve been collecting for ever, some gold paint and a little imagination.
