25.01.2022 #7 GRAPTOPETALUM 'MENDOZAE' Species. This cute little "mini rose" looking succulent is a very quick grower. It grows in clumps and spreads out rapidly, reaching up to 15cm tall. The rosettes consist of around 12-17 leaves and spans up to 3.5cm. The colour can change into a lovely pink in the warmer weather. This beauty prefers full sun. We grow ours under 75% shade cloth and it loves it. So if you live in an area where the summer sun is scorching, try to grow Mendozae in part shade or under some shade cloth.

25.01.2022 We think this deserves to be put out there, warning people of the potential dangers of potting mix.

24.01.2022 Isn't nature just wonderful I've never seen this before! This lonely little leaf decided to produce a new little plant, plus it wanted to flower all at the same time.

24.01.2022 #17 ECHEVERIA 'ORION' Echeveria Orion is a cultivar hybrid based on E. lilacina and E. pulidonis. Has fleshy, purple/pink/grey/green leaves with grey-red margins and tips. The leaves can change to orange when stressed. It forms a compact, bowl-shaped rosette that grows up to 20cm (8 inches) tall and 15cm (6 inches) in diameter. Very hardy. Rosettes open more in winter. ... Great plant for the garden and will also do well in a container. See more

23.01.2022 #9 OTHONNA CAPENSIS 'RUBY NECKLACE' aka. Little Pickles. This fast-growing trailing succulent comes from the daisy family and has multiple purple-pink stems and long narrow bean-shaped leaves of green, purple, or deep red. In adequate sunlight and restricted fertilisation, they become a lot redder in colour. Grown in more shade it will be greener and thicker. The red colour of these leaves are said to be similar to ruby-coloured gem pendants on necklaces, hence giving it the ...name 'Ruby Necklace'. This particular plant is perfect for hanging baskets and rock gardens. It will only support itself to around 5cm in height, however it will trail down for around 50cm in ideal conditions. It's a tough succulent with few problems of pests and diseases, but unfortunately caterpillars love them. Likes a bit more water than average. Is best grown in the morning sun and afternoon shade. Produces masses of delicate daisy-like yellow flowers intermittently throughout the year. Does not go into full dormancy and continues to grow at a slower pace throughout winter months. It is frost tolerant. Propagates via clippings. Allow the cut end to callous over and insert into dirt during warm months.

20.01.2022 So we decided to 'head-shop' one of our Echeveria 'Golden Glows'. These plants just keep on growing and growing in our garden. They truly put on a beautiful display. Thinking about making a 'sea' of them in our newly made area on the property.

19.01.2022 #15 ECHEVERIA 'GOLDEN GLOW' Echeveria Golden Glow is a hybrid based on Echeveria Pallida. It is a larger variety of Echeveria with individual, dense rosettes and broad, pale green to yellow-green, spoon-like leaves that can blush pink along the margin in summer when grown in sun. Otherwise, it is always green. Offsetting slowly. Can withstand full summer sun. Grows up to 45cm (18 inches) tall and 25cm (10 inches) in diameter. Very easy to grow and care for and are quite a hardy Echeveria. https://stunningsucculents.com.au/succulent-//golden-glow/

18.01.2022 Mealy Bug vs Lady Beetle larvae. A lot of people don't know the difference between Mealy Bug & Lady Beetle larvae. Seen here in these photos, you can see the Lady Beetle larvae is much larger than the Mealy. Lady Beetles are good for your plants if you have Mealy as they will feast on them until the cows come home. If you see white fluffy stuff on your beloved succulents or plants, be assured they will be Mealy Bug. You need to kill them before they eat your plants alive and ...your plants die....and they will die! It pays to inspect your plants BEFORE you buy them. To help other people out, comment on what you use to get rid of them?

17.01.2022 The making of our Ying & Yang nursery garden.

17.01.2022 We're thinking about doing something like these photos with our succulents ... something unique and tasteful (and hopefully relatively cheap). It would be nice to see what kind of wall planters you guys have. Comment your photos

16.01.2022 Mealy Bug vs Lady Beetle larvae (watch this baby GO!!) In this video you can see the huge difference between Mealy Bug and the much larger Lady Beetle larvae.

15.01.2022 #8 CRASSULA 'CAMPFIRE' capitella. aka. Blaze, Flame, Red Flame, St Andrew's Cross. Has branching, fleshy leaves. Matures from green to a striking red with less regular watering, infertile soil, and full sun. Grows up to 15cm (6") high and a spread of up to 90cm (3 feet) across. Not frost tolerant. Has clusters of white flowers in the summer. Propagation from trimming as well as from leaf. Prone to Mealybug.

15.01.2022 #6 ECHEVERIA 'BEN BADIS' This is a smaller sized, hardy succulent that grows in clusters. It's crossed between Echeveria derenbergii and Echeveria purpusorum. The leaves are a pale green to greyish-green colour with beautiful red tips that is more pronounced in the cooler months. Growing in full sun will bring out the best in its colours. As usual, be aware that our Australian summer sun can burn succulents and usually need to be in part shade. Flowers are an orange colour.

15.01.2022 # 12 ECHEVERIA 'BARON BOLD' Echeveria Baron Bold is a hybrid between Echeveria colorata and Echeveria desmetiana. A solitary rosette forming succulent with prominently raised bumps on its leaves that give it an interesting texture. The margins of the bumps are jagged, unlike the smoother bumps on the others. The leaves are mid green in colour but darken to red in direct sunlight or cold environments. ... Grows less vigorously than other carunculated hybrids. Medium carunculated heads to around 25cm (10 inches) in diameter. Can get larger under certain conditions. See more

14.01.2022 How true is this!!!

13.01.2022 Our dream is to have a nursery like this one.

13.01.2022 Who else can relate to this

13.01.2022 #18 ECHEVERIA 'lilacina' aka. Ghost Echeveria. Echeveria lilacina is a solitary, slow-growing Echeveria. Grows up to 15cm (6) tall 20cm (8) in diameter. The leaves are fleshy, spoon-shaped, silvery-grey forming a symmetrical rosette. They are almost white in colour hence the name Ghost Echeveria. A thick, powdery coating of farina (a protective coating that helps the plant stay healthy when exposed to extreme conditions, pathogens, and even insects) give the leaves a porcelain-like appearance. In late winter to early spring, it produces pale pink/coral lantern shaped flowers on reddish stems. Rarely grows offsets. Is a striking contrast against the usual green of other succulents.

13.01.2022 Look at the root system on these healthy leaf babies. It really does pay to propagate them in the correct soil suitable to your circumstances. What soil does everyone use?

12.01.2022 #5 ECHEVERIA 'MELACO' This is probably one of our favourite Echeveria's and the reason why we chose this photo for our Facebook page and Website. Striking rosette forming succulent with brown-red leaves that can turn green in the centre. The leaves are rounded and very glossy. Colour is most intense in the colder months when grown in full sun. Best grown in full sun to part shade, but be careful of the full hot summer sun. Grows up to 15cm (6"). Plants established in the ground are very hardy. Has orange bell-shaped flowers.

11.01.2022 Spring is here and that's when Echeveria succulents love to grow. Did you know that if you cut the terminal head off your mature plant, commonly known as 'Beheading' or 'Headchop' you will have new little plants growing in no time. Unlike leaf cuttings, propagation by stem cutting is quicker and has a higher success rate. Headchop results in three plant parts - the crown, the stem, and the leaves. Replant the crown in a separate pot and in no time at all it will have new roots and begin to grow. New baby plants will begin to grow from the sides of the stem and once the pups become bigger you can cut them off and plant them. The leaves will take a little longer to propagate, but hang in there, it’s worth the wait. All of this equals to tons of new plants, and that equals more plants for you to love.

09.01.2022 We've been dabbling in succulent arrangements lately. We love bringing out the artistic side of us. It's fun seeing what we have around the house that we could use as a pot too. The best fun is drilling the drainage holes (no broken things yet). Show us your arrangements

06.01.2022 #13 ECHEVERIA 'BLACK PRINCE' Echeveria Black Prince is a hybrid and is said to have a parentage of Echeveria affinis x Echeveria shaviana. It is a slow and low growing succulent that produces clumps of short rosettes. The leaves are wide and flat that are dark purple to black-dark brown with green markings on the inside and are pentagon in shape. Very hardy. Offsetting freely and clumping well with age. ... Has clusters of red to orange flowers which blossom in summer. Best in grown in filtered light. Does not like full sun in summer. Not cold hardy. For the best and deepest colour keep the succulent in a brightly lit location. See more

06.01.2022 #11 ECHEVERIA 'AMESTRO' Is a hybrid based on Echeveria agavoides. Unfortunately, no recorded information can be found on this succulent. It may be the case that it is not registered. Could be a cross between Echeveria 'Frank Reinelt', which is an Echeveria agavoides x colorata hybrid.

05.01.2022 Aren't these just beautiful! I guess we can all create things like these when it comes to our love of succulents.

05.01.2022 #14 ECHEVERIA 'BLOOD MARIA' aka Bloody Maria, Bloody Mary. Echeveria Blood Maria is a Korean hybrid based on Echeveria agavoides. It has chunky, pointy leaves which are glossy green and red, turning dark red in the colder months and when stressed from growing in the sun. Some of these succulents even display speckles all over the leaves. As with many Echeverias, Echeveria Blood Maria changes colours with seasons and appears less colourful in the warmer months. It is prone to... sunburn in the hottest days of summer and will benefit from protection. In late autumn/winter/early spring, it will happily grow in full sun. Has tiny flowers with tiny dark red or purple buds. The flowers are disproportionately tiny compared to the main rosette. Grows up to 10cm (4 inches) in diameter. See more

05.01.2022 #16 SENECIO ROWLEYANUS - 'STRING OF PEARLS' Synonyms - String of Beads, String of Lanterns Is a trailing succulent suitable to display in hanging baskets where the thin stems can cascade down in a dense curtain... Is an extremely easy plant to grow Can be grown in brightly lit indoor areas or semi-shaded outdoor positions. Do not overwater if inside Best grown in filtered light or under shadecloth Will tolerate some direct, early morning sun - too much will cause the plant to burn, especially in our Australian summer Not affected by many pest or disease issues but they can attract aphids and mealybugs during the warmer months Will rot if kept too dark or too wet Has pale daisy-like flowers Will benefit from a small amount of quality slow-release fertiliser See more

04.01.2022 It pays to know which of your succulents are either SUMMER or WINTER DORMANT. Why you may ask! Well here's an example....If you water a winter growing (summer dormant) succulent in the summer, you could cause the plant to uptake too much water and ROT thus the potential of killing the plant. This would happen because the plant is not growing and has gone into a "sleep" state or dormant stage and doesn't require much of anything, especially water. It's saving all of its energy for when it naturally wants to grow. Lesson: Don't over-water your succulents especially if they are in a non-growing or dormant state.

03.01.2022 What a wonderful thing these guys have done
