23.01.2022 We have been talking about goal setting over the past couple of weeks. Now that we have decided on a goal and made a plan, it is time to prepare. Kate suggests, "Prepare thoroughly before you begin. Proper prior preparation prevents poor performance. If you are going to exercise in the morning, set your alarm and get your clothes out so that you are ready to go or organise to meet a friend as this will make you accountable." Have you made any goals yet?

20.01.2022 We are focusing on goal setting at the moment. Following on from our previous post about deciding what you want, the next step is planning. Kate says "Plan every day in advance think on paper. I often tell my patients to write when they are going to schedule in their exercise into their diary. If you see it on paper you are more likely to do it." Do you find writing things down helps you follow through? Give it a try!

17.01.2022 When it comes to goal setting we can find ourselves in a bit of a fog, not sure where to start. We have been mapping out ways to reach our goals, starting with identifying and planning, but what happens when you are ready to start but find you just can't? Kate suggests: "Identify your key constraints. Determine the bottle-necks or choke-points internally or externally. Focus on alleviating them. What is it that is stopping you from getting things done?"

17.01.2022 During these uncertain times it can be a bit harder to motivate yourself. We have put together a list of tips to help you set goals and start moving forward again. We will share them over the coming days and weeks. Today we start with the first and most important step. Theres never enough time to do everything, but theres always enough time to do the most important things. Decide exactly what you want. Clarity is essential. Write out your goals and objectives before you be...gin. What is it that is most important to you? Share your thoughts with us.

16.01.2022 We have been discussing goal setting over the past few weeks. We have identified our goals, made plans and now we are working on implementing them. An important aspect of achieving your goals is identifying the time of day that you are at your best to work towards your dreams, while still balancing it with your responsibilities. Kate suggests, "Maximise your personal powers. Identify your periods of highest mental and physical energy each day and structure your most importa...nt and demanding tasks around these times. Are you better to exercise or work early morning or later in the day?" Are you a early bird or a night owl or do you work best in short bursts through out the day?

Sometimes one of the hardest parts is remembering that you need to be your own champion, because that goal just isn't going to achieve itself. Kate says "Motivate yourself into action. Be your own cheerleader. Look for the good in every situation. Focus on the solution and not the problem. Always be optimistic and constructive. Tell yourself you can do it!"
