25.01.2022 Yesterday's site visit to our Indooroopilly project, made me want to bust out a little Stephen Sondheim show tune, and slide across the floor in my socks, like ...Tom Cruise in Risky Business... The transformation of this space makes me giddy with excitement...What was once a dark and disconnected space, is now open, with natural light flooding in, views to gasp at, connecting all the living spaces, but still having distinct zones. 23.01.2022 This inner city apartment project has been a long and protracted process - which was extremely challenging logistically, as it is a penthouse apartment on the 5...2nd floor of a highrise building, in the Brisbane CBD. Just about every design idea and selection decision, had to consider things like building access, would it fit in the lift, would it fit around tight corners, up the narrow stairs to the bedrooms, and working with a curved bank of windows meant the positioning, shape and size of the furniture had to be just right, to work in with the space. The overall project included a new kitchen, floor coverings, window treatments, lighting and spacial planning, a new laundry and powder room, furniture, furnishings, decor and artworks. Although not completely finished - the space found some significant resolve today. We have created a "statement" set down area in the entrance to the apartment, which sets the tone for what is to come when you enter the kitchen and main living area. We also managed to reconfigure the furniture placement in the main living and dining area in such a way that the space now makes sense. The lounge no longer faces a wall (away from the spectacular views to the north), with the television dominating the space, and the living area is now more open and "conversational", rather that being isolated and closed off from the rest of the space.
