22.01.2022 Lacrosse WA - COVID-19 Update: Due to the Federal Government’s continual announcements enforcing tighter restrictions across our country to slow the spread of C...OVID-19, Lacrosse WA met with the ALA and other Member Associations Monday night to discuss the commencement of our respective 2020 domestic lacrosse seasons. With the constant change in restrictions, the LWA Board met last night and taking into account information from the Government and health agencies, LWA has made the following decision after careful consideration, the WA 2020 season will be postponed indefinitely. The LWA Board will continue to review this decision in line with Government protocol. The LWA Board is meeting informally each day and formally via teleconference weekly. We will continue to provide our clubs and members updates as the situation progresses. A formal meeting between the LWA Board, Club Presidents and ALRA(WA) is scheduled for tonight. The above decision regarding the 2020 season is on the Agenda for discussion as well as suggested scenarios for an irregular season, fees (ALA, LWA, Club), club facilities/grounds and any further concerns. We are facing an unprecedented crisis with the spread of the coronavirus, and the health and safety of everyone involved in lacrosse and the communities we play and live in must come first. We implore all our members to continue to act responsibly by socially distancing and using good hygiene measures. To assist LWA and clubs to develop a "Return To Play" objective, a survey has been developed to gauge our membership and provide feedback to the Board for a viable 2020 season. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TRLS66W

20.01.2022 It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Subiaco Alumni Sue Sofarnos passed away on Saturday the 19th of September 2020. An influential and inspirational player, coach and friend. Sue has had a huge impact on the entire Lacrosse community and holds a special place within our club. Sue lead the lions 22 years ago to win our Senior Women’s Grandfinal, and next weekend the girls take to the field to play in their first Grand final since and play for her. Sue, your sp...irit will always be with us. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

19.01.2022 As you're well aware we are moving to Phase 3 restrictions from Saturday 6 June. We are clarifying the details of our "return to play" at Rosalie Park with the City of Subiaco before we can advise of training plans, dates, time and conditions. This is our primary goal at this time. In regards to the lacrosse season, discussions continue to progress with LWA and other clubs. This is complex given the variable constraints, capacity and risks of clubs, associations and other st...akeholders. We hoping to provide a further update next week. As always feel free to contact me at [email protected].

Lacrosse superstars are hard t...o come by, but Australia’s Brian Griffin proves they do exist International Lacrosse Magazine The Lacrosse WA Board is saddened to learn of the peaceful passing of Subiaco Lacrosse Club's Mr Brian Griffin. Brian had a long and distinguished lacrosse career at State, National and International level. His style of play revolutionised the game and he is recognised as one of the best players ever. A member of the West Australian Hall of Champions, Sport Australia Hall of Fame and US Lacrosse Hall of Fame, Brian has represented Australia in six Australian Teams, selected as MVP at the 1967 World Championship. Brian won the Association Fairest and Best in 1963, 64, 66 and 68 and was appointed an LWA Life Member in 2002. 11.01.2022 In light of recent events within the Australian lacrosse community, the Australian Lacrosse Network would like to reiterate our fundamental belief that lacrosse..., whether in Australia or abroad, should be a welcoming and safe sport for all. We fully support Aimee’s brave decision to come forward and hope that Aimee’s courage serves as a beacon to any players, supporters or officials who at any time feel unsafe, vilified or marginalised. As a lacrosse community we should continue to strive to create an environment which empowers people to report unacceptable behaviour by not only talking about these issues but ensuring that everyone, at all levels of lacrosse, contribute to the fostering of a safe and supportive environment for all.
