20.05.2022 Throughout the agesthere have been countless heroes whose deeds were never recorded never witnessed by others. They may have perished on the way and not "succeeded." Surely we can all relate to this. Perhaps being a hero does not require being recognized for accomplishments. Some are blessed with great natural talent or born into favourable circumstances. Others make the attempt without these. That makes them heroes in their own tales. However it is not correct to get attached to "battle" against the odds. Rather let us have an unmoving mind to accept and keep moving through adversity when it comes. This realization becomes clear when held by many stronger opponents.

07.05.2022 I took my poodle, Rubio, to the vet yesterday and it seems like he has a sore neck. He hasn't been right for last week and was hanging his head and tail and sometimes groaning at night. The vet gave him a shot of painkiller and gave me a box of tablets to give him. This morning I gave him Kiatsu in the garden under the mulberry tree in the sun. He's resting gently now with his sister. A combination of medical care, Kiatsu and other therapies are the best. My university lecturer often said of the different methods in language teaching, "necessary but not sufficient."

14.04.2022 Maybe one of the hopes for intercultural understanding is with our younger generation. While I grew up in Queensland with mostly monolingual schoolmates of British / European Australian backgrounds with a few Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as well, my own children are multiracial, bilingual and have grown up with far more variety! They are much more informed, aware and tolerant than I - although I might catch up one day. Here's a picture of my son, Kay, who went with his school in Japan to Fiji for a week to help them clean up and repair their environment after the big cyclone.

06.04.2022 As my Aikido students know very well, I am a great old school Star Wars fan. I especially love the wisdom of Yoda. It resembles Aikido and world warrior-sage philosophy so much. Someone told me that George Lucas had actually practised Aikido! It's not widely known. If anyone knows more, please let me know.

25.01.2022 If we would undertake the hero's path, there will be monsters and hardship! How are we going to deal with them? If we fight and struggle against them, they will beat us or we risk becoming a monster ourselves. Ki Aikido training supports us in our quests by showing us powerful life strategies and PRINCIPLES for when we are faced with these monsters - rather than slaying them and being slain by them, TRANSFORM them and create new possibilities.

24.01.2022 15. The Ki Breathing Method The outward breath extends to the eternal Universe, the inward breath settles inside the very pit of the abdomen.Ki Breathing is a ...secret method of mind and body unity. If one carries this out alone at night when the Universe has quietened down and there is silence, one will wonder if they are the Universe or the Universe is themselves. No matter how clever animals are, they are ultimately incapable of knowing the Universal Mind. Only humankind has this prerogative. Fortunate are those who possess the Mind that pursues the Way, for this is precisely the evidence they qualify to be spiritual heads of Creation. http://www.aikidomelbourne.com/2016/06/ki-sayings-18/

21.01.2022 NEN - What a tricky concept to put into words in English! But this is what Tohei Sensei wrote for no. 19. 'It is the power of NEN.' I put it as 'Presence of Min...d' for want of a better term. If there are any Japanese / English Bilinguals who have a more precise term in English, then let me know! It is NOT the usual word for willpower and very different to what most Native English speakers would call 'willpower.' NEN is a single character, but is made of two parts. The top part is 'ima' or 'NOW' and the bottom part is our old favourite 'shin' or 'Mind.' To me, Tohei Sensei was greatly influenced by Zen concepts, and keeping one's mind in the present is the basis for power. See more

18.01.2022 19. The Power of Presence of Mind A concentrated intention penetrates even boulders, a radiating attention tames even tempests. From where does this mind emana...te? Those who accomplish a great thing are surely those who master this power. From molecules to atoms to electrons, when the waves of the mind have been calmed to their smallest and one is completely unified, there arises the great power of presence of mind that is connected to the Universe. http://www.aikidomelbourne.com/2016/06/ki-sayings-19-2/

16.01.2022 17. Spiritual Nature Mind We humans have been given minds that are directly linked to the Universe. This is the Spiritual Nature Mind. Water settles and clear...ly reflects the moon. When the mind has calmed down, the Spiritual Nature Mind manifests as a luminosity. Once this mind radiates, all worldly passions, wicked desires and their shadows fall away and the Universal Mind of Love and Protection for all Creation scintillates forth. Let me polish my Spiritual Nature Mind. http://www.aikidomelbourne.com/2016/05/ki-sayings-17/

13.01.2022 Connect with others, for they are not really others, but parts of the One. Or rather, remember that you and they are already connected. True connection is not something we DO; it is something we ARE.

09.01.2022 Songs that inspire me.This one is about the bottom line for making superheroes. The next level is doing it without fighting and a sense of struggle, even though there is still adversity. Seeing it differently. THAT is when the superhero really learns to FLY!!

06.01.2022 16. The Method of Pressing with Ki (Kiatsu) I learn the method of mind and body unity and grasp the Ki Breathing Method and am mastering the secret method of b...eing able to absorb the Universal Ki in my whole body at any time. 04.01.2022 Part of being a hero is questing and sometimes that leads one into dark forests, where there is no set path to follow - we must forge our own path. Sometimes we are wounded or ready to give up, yet we find that inner reserve of resilience, after our temper tantrum or sob of despair, and change our course if we run up against an impenetrable barrier. (The white figure in this video is a metaphor for being one with the universe. Nevertheless, the journey through earthly reality continues.)
