22.01.2022 OMG!!!!! I just had the most amazing visitors Neryl and Les, from Sanctuary Point .... Thank you so much for stopping by from my street in my home town and parents of one of my old crowd... who was a friend of one of my best friends, they know my brother and parents and just about all my old friends...thank you so much for staying and having a coffee with me and bringing back memories of so many wonderful people... hope you have wonderful travels... dont forget to say hi to everyone you meet for me...i cant imagine some of them i haven’t seen since i was 20 are now bald... ha ha ... definitely please stay in touch ... I am hoping to head back to the coast for a week or two soon... you guys are amazing. Made my day, made my week! Bless you guys for that.

21.01.2022 Just a reminder: art class on Thursday Evening from 6-9 pm at the studio on Darling street is on again this week ... .. if its low in numbers i will draw too so you will see how i would approach the same subject in my style....$20 only for still life classes ( fruit flowers vases and other interesting inanimate objects) evenings, and bring your own prefered materials to draw or paint with, at this stage in these testing times, I am hoping to keep it easy to afford for all. A...nd for those who dont like the cold we are airconditioned and the building maintains a comfy temperature. We are working on still life projects most of the time but interested in finding a couple of reliable reputable character models for down the track ... (Clothes on please we have young ones around ) Prefer models who have seen life with interesting character filled face and likeable personality probably over 50... must be able to sit still for three hours ( its actually surprisingly hard work) with some breaks to move around and go back to same pose. (no eyerolling jokes and funny nonsense about life drawing models please, I have heard them all and you dont really want to hear my come back replys ) ... These evenings are suitable for any drawing or painting medium where your materials are portable... if oil painting please only bring Gum Turpentine or citrus turps... as these are plant based products and as there are problems with odourless turps or mineral turps... This is an ideal time to try a new medium and get some overview tips to get started on what makes that medium unique.

20.01.2022 A new little painting this week, somewhere North of Hawker in the Flinders Ranges, where i was attracted by a red mountainside in the distance. On the trip i was taking on average one photo for every kilometre travelled ( after deleting the dud ones each night), ... I have been waiting to paint this little gem since spring 2015... I am currently also working on a larger work from an evening walk and shoot around a wetland at the Mungerannie hotel on the Birdsville Track fro...m the same trip. Thanks to Gavan my knowledgeable tour guide for the trip of a lifetime and putting up with my frequent Stop i want to take photographs, and No not here, 50 metres back there.... ...and we both survived

19.01.2022 For your convenience and local supply i am Starting to supply some art materials ... starting with a selection of good brushes and Budget brushes ( little handyman jobs maybe) and a range of lovely matisse acrylic paints and paint sets. We have also a few life drawing and sketching bits and pieces suitable for use in classes and i was also happy to unexpectedly sell one of my unprepared canvases on the weekend ... cheeky backpacker pleaded for it after finding one waiting f...or my personal use still in shrink wrap. All good, i ordered another one. I can not stock a huge range of art materials at this stage other than professional quality materials that i know to trust and would use if using that medium as I dont have time for materials that give dissapointing results and dont perform well. But if anyone wants something different, I am happy to order some in from my suppliers for anyone As needed. So there is everything needed here to get started on a project in acrylics or take it up more seriously, except a plastic mixing palette and a water jar ... dinner plates and vegimite jars can do the trick too. I am considering stocking limited quantities and gift sets of pastels , watercolours, guache and quality pencils. feedback would be appreciated

18.01.2022 Closing the studio to Visitors for the next couple of weeks on doctors advice.and then reassess the situation. I am one of those in the community with a preexisting lung condition and compromised imune system. After a few visitors this week i have realised its not such a good idea for me to remain open to the general public. Still going to be working online and painting in the studio etc ... still happy to conduct business by phone and internet and short visits by appointment... maybe, but i am just not up for entertaining random visitors. some people over three days this week have left me a little on edge with their comments and behaviour and even sniffles. Time to take the warning and practice a bit of social distancing and "flatten the curve". I have a family that depend on me and value all my regular visitors and the elderly folk that are in higher numbers in our population. And with generally lower incomes in the bush and more older folk and no local doctor in Wentworth, i dont want to be one who catches and helps transmit this virus. I dont want to see this regions medical staff and organisations and facilities stretched to the limits if everyone doesn't do what they can to slow things down. There's more at stake in this town than business. Our People matter. And gosh, to the visitors from near Italy, how long have you been here and when you grumble about notices on the bank restricting people, did you quarantine yourself for two weeks on arrival? Or is going country your idea of that? We are a smaller population but we are still people out here too. Yeah i noticed you were with pushy city hosts, couldnt miss it how i was treated by one of them. Perhaps i just didnt like being somewhat pushed around by the Aussie lady showing you around. I miss normal tourists and interesting visitors who are interested in art and happy to have a chat .... And to the lady yesterday who came in sniffling and soon asked for a tissue, if you're too sick to be at work, on your business trip, please don't wander around and enter other peoples workplaces. As for the visiting folk stripping our regional supermarkets like locusts.... there is probably nothing thats going to spread the virus faster than your unusual travel behaviour, you are putting yourself and others at risk the more places and times you go. I hope soon this all passes, take care people. And yes we'd all appreciate it if some people would bloody well just leave the toilet paper alone. When you've got enough you've got enough so enoughs enough! Please.

18.01.2022 Back open again post covid restrictions.... Now with art and antiques ... very excited to bring a lovely collection of china and crystal and glassware and other things to Wentworth .... 1/42 Darling Street everyone.... and come see our classroom gallery next door in 2/42 ... looking forward to teaching painting and drawing again and setting up some wonderful still lifes with the antiques ...

16.01.2022 Finally back at work, sorry for anyone whos been looking for me at the studio. We have been moving house, a bit nasty doing that in the heat and humidity lately. (But just as we wished for we are now in walking distance between work and home and have a bit more room to hang out together at home ) i Have also been a little unwell , apparently i need more Guiness, red meat and silverbeet in my diet and maybe a little less coffee.... Anyway i left three paintings on the go to f...inish when i got back, here is the first one completed, yesterday. It is part of a set of three 60 x 60 cm paintings with orchids that can be hung as a triptich or singularly or in pairs... oh yeah, my kids think I'm such a child and roll their eyes at the bit of plastic that crept into this one which i have been threatening to do for some time... I am giving away a FREE calendar of my paintings to the first THREE people to tell me what it is. See more

16.01.2022 Finnally finished and pleased with this big 6X4 foot work work, which has had its delays and pauses, while traveling around 4 studios with me in that time. Its of my cottagey side garden in the Mallee town of Speed, and hopefully shows my love of gardening and birds and bearded irises. The painting is for sale and also the house as its way to hard to maintain when life is in so may places especially when it is straddled over two sides of the NSW/ Victorian border... so anyone looking for a very nice little cottage south of the border should contact Ian Miers at Burns and co 0428586205. As for big paintings, this one is available through me at Wentworth Creative Studio, Wentworth 0487021344.

16.01.2022 Some of my signwriting jobs, one was done for Bill at Wheeldons Hardware, apparently its his Sunday best, as he seems to only put it out on Sundays. Hope you get well soon Bill.

14.01.2022 Stimulus package ? (Motivation to make new works) And making some wall space for new works.... thanks for all my loyal followers and supporters.... Sale price offered on many of my older paintings, most of which are on board and framed. Significant price reductions still to be worked out, can be negotiated though mostly around 20-25%, and in some cases, i am offering savings of 50% to keep overheads and things in the studio going through the virus event. These photos are just some of the stock i want to move on. Perhaps something cheerful to look at and enjoy while you stay at home a lot more ? Contact me for more details. Don't forget artworks can be freighted with couriers and are cheaper to fly to some destinations.

10.01.2022 And then there were two. i have now finished a complimentary painting for the other one, and just prepared another canvas to make a possible triptych, though i am happy to sell a pair or individually. No plastic dinosaurs this time, but the cactus is Plasticus speciecus... sh ...don't tell.

09.01.2022 I've been asked if i can donate something for the upcoming Wentworth Preschool Long Daycare Committee trivia night.... they are looking for auction items, door prize, raffle prizes etc... for Saturday 30th May at the Wentworth Bowling Club. They are raising funds towards a building extension. Any other information... email [email protected] or call Shana Alderson 0438 812992. I got back into my printmaking as i thought this particular contribution should potentially raise them a fortune.... genuine Quilton and the entire roll except for the last sheets stuck to the tube have now been lino printed with my invented Corona dollars... have fun folks and keep your bottom clean

09.01.2022 Sunday morning breakfast in the gallery...studio... shop... classroom.... whatchamacallit. ..... sometimes i call it the office or the batcave..... i will own being the bat....I forgot to put the corridoor lights on as i came in, unlocked the doors and put studio lights on... to be pleasantly surprised to see how nice both spaces look from the outside.... it hasnt been easy but i think i am achieving something here....

09.01.2022 Recently i had to outbid someone at auction and pay a slightly silly price for a cup plate and saucer set that was at some time a souvenir from Broken Hill ....just because i had a painting in mind for it. These are popular and favourite flowers with people in this region and thats very understandable when you see them in the wild, and because they are an emblem of Broken Hill. So i have done a very feminine outback painting this time. I have some more blokey ideas in mind f...or other paintings and more sturt pea ideas i want to play around with too... i think i have come to appreciate this little desert flower also. This is one plant that I could never grow on the coast in Sydney, not even for my widowed mother in law to remember her husband who was originally a Broken Hill boy. This was of course his favourite flower too, when she talked about him, but sadly in Sydney, the air was to humid and salty and maybe polluted. "Mumsie" was of course very much a cup plate and saucer lady and all aprons and doileys and Sunday roast lunch. See more

08.01.2022 Must laugh sometimes ... Yellow Printer ink ran out so i cannot print black .... (I'm sure thats a marketing scam).... So Doing some simple typography drafting the oldfashioned way .... for a bit of signwriting but its been a long time ....... I am in an art studio for gosh sake, and after years of moving and traveling and having kids around me ....and buying them all that fun drawing stuff ...and usually just drawing my straight lines and circles freehand....but not the way to go for this job.... And do you think I can find a compass in any of my drawing kits or drawers or desk ? No but i found this!!!! There will be half a dozen drawing compasses still in not unpacked boxes at home from moving house...

04.01.2022 Yes this one is finally finished ... my long Panorama of the beautiful Murray pine yards at Zanci Homestead in Mungo National Park

04.01.2022 Something a bit different to the art stuff and urgently needed: Agistment for one 30 -32 year old Appaloosa mare preferably close to Wentworth. Nevada is Our last remaining horse as the kids have long outgrown ponies, Nevada is a four legged member of our family that i have had since 1997 and one of those "love of my life" horses, she has been staying with friends in the wimmera for the last couple of years but they have recently sold their farm to retire for health reasons a...nd its felt that Nevada needs to come up to warmer sunraysia climate instead of going further south to the coast to be with the same friends but would also be left mostly unattended while they travel in winter to warmer places. ( yeah i know i tried to persuade them to move up here) . This horse retired from serious trail riding and a bit of sheep and cattle mustering and other useful things only a couple of years ago but is supect a warmer climate will benefit her, she is still good company to have around on the ground and with kind kids to sometimes ride. She used to be ridden by my 78 year old (at the time) mother in law, and a riding for the disabled boy, she loves having sheep for company and gets adopted as mobile shade and shelter by farm orphan, pet sheep. As you can see from the photos she is gentle natured, trustworthy with children and puts up with a lot. Safe and Good fencing would be reassuring as i gave my electric fencing away years ago. But i am able to do a little bit of fencing, I plan on feeding her twice daily and can cart water if needed and not far to go, I Am happy to do basic ( no machinery involved) paddock maintenance and looking forward to spending daily time with my girl again. If any one has room for her, even temporary as the uncertainty of the virus thing has complicated things and made moving her more urgent. Have our old float and would like to get to know some of the local horse people especially other aging horseladies in the local area. She would be good paddock company if another horse was around, or happy on her own or with other livestock and can settle down nervous horses.... at one stage our household had 16 horses in various sizes from shetlands and spotted ponies right up to thoroughbreds and clydesdales. But there was only one Nevada and she has earned a forever home in our family. So please contact me here or on 0487021344 if anyone has any ideas or a bit of space at their place. She is not for sale, ever, sorry. And retired from hard work. I dont mind sharing her with another family of kids if a kind family. She would also be good company for someone who spends a lot of time at home but doesnt want the hard work of horsecare, or as a "therapy horse" and definitely make a pretty lawn ornament .... people fall in love with this horse wherever she goes. And its time for her next adventure, but at her age, a gentle one. And we two old girls just need to get back together too.

03.01.2022 Another fun work in a smaller 60 X 60 cm size and square. format ... this one can be hung on its own or alongside another of my recent works of the same size in the same theme. I have used Marees lovely window boxes for a set, over the road at her gift shop, the Curly Tree.

02.01.2022 Some work i am very pleased with in progress in the studio. Dont Forget art classes are on again tonight from 6-9pm ($20)
