10.01.2022 POPPYSEED OIL BETTER FOR FLUSHING TUBES THAN WATER?? Sometimes you read the title of a research paper and wonder who the hell thought that up? Poppyseed oil? And who did they use as Guinea pigs? However the practise of using poppyseed oil to flush out the Fallopian tubes is an old practise that fell by the wayside as science and technology rode into town. Well it's back. It's a thing. And there is research to prove it.... In a study with over 1100 women randomly assigned water or poppyseed oil for their hysterosalpingraphy the results were compelling. Of the women who received the poppy seed oil, 40 per cent got pregnant over the next six months, compared with 29 per cent of those who got water. The size of the effect is impressive, compared with other fertility interventions, says Child. Intrauterine insemination, which involves placing sperm directly into the uterus, only raises pregnancy rates by a few percentage points, for instance. Scientists are yet to establish the reason for the success and what properties of the oil makes it so effective but are impressed by the results. Regulating your cycle or reducing symptoms you might have at period time means that your hormones are working better. Increasing your energy and blood flow means the ovaries and uterus are better nourished. Reducing your anxiety or irritability puts you in a better place mentally to face the road ahead.
