23.01.2022 It’s tax time! We can tell you’re just as excited as we are, because we’ve received over 20,000 phone calls so far today. We’re sorry if you can’t get through... right away our contact centre staff are doing the best they can to help as many people as possible. A large number of calls are about myTax or linking our online services to myGov. If you need a hand with this, check out our troubleshooting tips at www.ato.gov.au//Technical-/Troubleshooting-for-individuals as they may save you from having to phone us If you’re keen to lodge early, remember to wait until your employer marks your info as ‘tax ready’ in myGov before you lodge. Your employer should get it done before 31 July 2019. Find more info at www.ato.gov.au//Working-as-/Accessing-your-payment-summary

If anyone notices any Business asking you by email to change their bank account details before paying an invoice even if the invoice looks totally legitimate .. please ring the Business to get confirmation that it is correct .. safer to check. I had a Client yesterday who almost lost a very large bank transfer payment .. luckily the bank was contacted and payment stopped and is in the hands of Fraud investigation. Scammers are copying emails and invoices... Please be careful If in doubt make a phone Call to ask .. it might save you losing your hard earned money See more

01.01.2022 SCAM ALERT Scammers have set up a clone of the myGov website to trick you into sharing your login and bank account details, Stay Smart Online says. The scam... starts with a phishing email that looks like it is from Medicare, asking you to update your Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) details, so you can start receiving payments for Medicare benefits and claims. If you click on the link in the email you are taken a replica of the real myGov website. You’ll note the URL includes ‘.net’ instead of ‘.gov.au’, which is an indication the website is not a legitimate Australian Government domain! If you input your login details you are directed to also enter your secret security question and answer, before you’re taken to the fake Medicare website to input your bank account details. These emails and web pages feature myGov and Medicare design and branding, making them appear legitimate. Remember, clicking on the link and sharing your details gives these scammers access to your personal information, which they then use to steal your money and identity!
