21.01.2022 This project was on a huge block in Mitcham which could have been subdivided, but there were some beautiful trees which were to contribute to a gorgeous family home. The whole property cried out for loving renovations to an original weatherboard from the 1960s. We started landscaping the back garden as it was such a mess, creating sweeping grassy areas with gardens incorporating traditional and native plants which complemented each other. The structural renovations started a...t the back, also including an extension for the new kitchen, family and meals areas allowing the resident family to access the old kitchen area. A new bathroom was also created whilst leaving the old bathroom in situ. Being able to design around a family living in their home whilst work takes place is a key ingredient to a more comfortable environment for them. Having to move out and pay rent is not always possible and creates lots of extra stress for the client. Most of the old horsehair plaster was replaced allowing for new wall insulation. All new windows and doors created direct access to the rear garden and new front deck with individually designed balustrading. Existing weatherboards and roof tiles were matched and the roof cavity was totally insulated with batts above the required rating. Soft tones and colours were used to connect the building with the beautiful surrounding vegetation to create a secluded feeling of comfort and privacy. #suechapmanconsulting

Just because a product is designed for a different application doesn’t mean it can’t be used for building. Collect information, photos and products in anticipation of putting it altogether with your building professional.
