25.01.2022 April in Paris- ready to get this quilted!

25.01.2022 I’m currently machine quilting ‘ Birds in my Garden’ a lovely quilt that evolved out of my desire to use the Aussie birds and gum leaf fabrics I had in my stash. The soft colours and overall effect of the commercial prints and batiks are very appealing to me. This is going to be a hand made Christmas gift.

24.01.2022 Nothing fancy about how I square up my quilts- I use my tiled floors! The grout lines give my scissors a groove to guide them.

22.01.2022 A first time for everything- first Singing the Blues quilt being pin basted on the beach unit table. It’s working well and the sounds of the sea are a beautiful background music!

22.01.2022 Yeah! Got it pieced quickly! Calling it Chateau Tanay after the chateau we stayed in, in 2013.

21.01.2022 Version 1 and version 2- going with number 2. Such a good idea to photograph a block layout before stitching. The blocks are cut at 9.5.

20.01.2022 Pin basted another quilt on my outside table this morning. Taking a beach walk to reconnect with simple things and wonder at the grains of sand. Tomorrow is the first day of Spring for us in the Southern Hemisphere.

20.01.2022 A great start to the SAQA auction! Congratulations to all donors. My quilt Summer Breeze #3 is available.

19.01.2022 Happy cutting this afternoon.

18.01.2022 Great to see this exhibition out and on a wall, finally! My quilt ‘Even the boats have eyes in Greece’ is in the mix. Can’t get to see it in person but you may be closer and have the opportunity of viewing all the wonderful work.

16.01.2022 The Studio Art Quilt Associates mini quilt auction starts soon! My Summer Breeze #3 is available.

15.01.2022 This birthday quilt ( The XOX quilt) has reached the recipient so I can share the full picture now. I hand painted the XOX design (kiss, hug, kiss) randomly over white fabric, cut the fabric, machine pieced and machine quilted. The backing was hand dyed.

11.01.2022 Working on cutting up my Chateau Rouge by French General fabrics, plus a few others bought in Lyon, France in 2013. The toile was bought in Paris if I remember correctly.

09.01.2022 This Winter I decided to take up crocheting rugs and completed 3. One for me and then another 2 for granddaughters. Finally finished last night, just as we are about to celebrate Spring! It was nice to revisit crochet and it kept my hands busy. These are for Misses 10 & 7.

09.01.2022 Pin basting another quilt! I’m enjoying the process of these quilts and just having fun!

07.01.2022 Hand stitching to complete another small piece of quilted wall art. Found the perfect batik piece for a binding as I decided not to face this one. No original hand dyed fabric left for binding. Poinciana seed pods used for the images.

04.01.2022 April in Paris- just previewing options for these rubbed pieces from Paris, 2013.

03.01.2022 ‘My Italian Holiday’ - the top is pieced waiting for quilting. I painted some backing fabric today. I had dyed this fabric, a subtle pale marble like pattern, when I dyed the fabric for rubbing and printing on my holiday (2014) but it was still very white so out came the green and orange Permaset.
