25.01.2022 A passing By Sue Ellson Time brings endings... And new beginnings Memories are reminders Of all the trimmings Friends and family Will always linger Love, faith and hope Will help us cope As we pause to reflect Our hearts will collect The feelings The seeings The doings The beings And the sun will shine And the rain will fall But in the end We can conquer it all A person I know has recently nursed her husband through a very aggressive form of cancer and today, I found out that he has passed away. He was an incredibly insightful and caring man and she has documented their journey via semi-regular posts on Facebook. It has been wonderful to witness her courage, candour and care. I chose to write this poem as a way to say my own goodbye. With love, Sue https://sueellson.com/blog/a-passing/ #thepassing #sueellson #sueellsonpoem #poem #poetry #deathpoem #inmemoriam

24.01.2022 I'm #doingmybit. I learnt a long time ago that a network provides security, not a job. As a #gigster I'm ok - but here's what I'm doing to help others right now. 1. Offering 'pay what you can afford rates' for my services 2. Providing free access to my four books ... 3. Producing more free articles relevant for right now 4. Spending a little extra time on the phone or during appointments to support those who are doing it tough 5. Checking in more regularly with friends who live on their own #areyoudoingyourbit? If we all do a bit, we can all have some. #fairtoshare Even if you are not working, you may be able to support someone else in your own unique way. Would love to hear what you are doing for others in 2020 (no matter how small)! Please comment below...or give kudos to someone else who has done something for you! #gigsters #sueellson

22.01.2022 At 'The Art of Storytelling' webinar hosted by the Institute of Managers and Leaders Australia and New Zealand with Rob Brennan and Nick Everitt today, Rob spoke about using stories in interviews rather than the standard STAR (situation, task, action, result) method. He encouraged the development of a SCRAP book of stories that describe Situation, Context, Results, Action (could have been) and Point (why?). He also made a fantastic point about if you are NEW in the organi...sation to connect with each person and then all the people before suggesting any form of change. There were heaps of other tips - I found it really helpful and wrote lots of notes. Thanks Rob! #leadership #management #jobinterviews #storytelling

20.01.2022 The Symphony of the Rainy Night By Sue Ellson As I walk along... The streets so dark And hear the rain Making its mark In the gutters that overflow The sound of creeks in full flow The crashing sounds of the drains Like waterfalls tumbling to the plains The tinkle of the rain On the parked cars glass The silhouette of trees Keep changing as I pass The soft raindrops Fall on my face like kisses Sent from above To grant me wishes As the orchestra of sounds Fills my heart once more As the conductor of nature Creates its own score Here in my city suburb A temporary rain forest With street lights for moons Wet leaves singing the chorus As I walk closer to home I ponder a little more About how to stay in the rain That gently inspires me to the core But return I must To my own sweet haven My balance restored By a walk in the rain I recently went on a walk in the rain (29 April 2020) in the early hours of the evening and wrote this when I got home. On the walk, there were wet leaves and puddles everywhere and I arrived home sopping wet! However, I had such a wonderful time, even though I was on my own and didnt have someone to chat with on the journey. I hope this poem inspires you to rug up this winter and enjoy a walk in the rain, even if you are not near a rainforest! 19.01.2022 Fathers By Sue Ellson Listen to the audio at http://sueellson.com/blog/fathers ... I have a father And a father has me On the journey of life We find a way to be I have a father Who watched me grow He taught me so much About what seeds to sow I have a father Who has made a few mistakes Now that I am grown I can see That life is so much more than tea and cakes I have a father Full of hopes and fears Of dreams won and lost And silently shed tears So when I look back I feel for my Dad I didnt come with instructions I dont want him to feel sad Because I wouldnt be here If it wasnt for him He is my wheel Im just the rim For he is my strength Be it right or wrong He is mine and I am his Together we will always belong Then one day when one of us Doesnt breathe any more The other will carry on Based on memories afore And we will give thanks To be a part of each other We will rejoice As we learn to hover In our thoughts Or in our dreams We will reflect And sew the final seams Of the rich tapestry weve created In moments of time In ceremonies In stories In words In actions As we will find our own peace As we carry on Together forever Us two in one Today is Fathers Day in Australia and I, along with many other Victorians, will not be seeing my Dad (who lives in Adelaide). None of us would exist without a father and every father / child relationship has its ups and downs. However, what always survives is the sense that we are a part of our father and that to accept ourselves, we accept our father. Today in particular, we celebrate the love that we feel for our father after all, we wouldnt be here without him! I also understand that there are some people who have had a very difficult relationship (past or present) with their father, adopted father, father-in-law or chosen father and I hope that I was sensitive enough in this poem to acknowledge the inexplicable components of this human bond. Thanks Dad, for everything I am so grateful. 19.01.2022 Heart By Sue Ellson My heart has a voice... That whispers to me It knows my truth Beyond what I see My heart has a rhythm That beats for me It knows my pace And makes me feel free My heart has a sound That hears every word It knows my thoughts And is often stirred To feel To respond To flee To abscond To care To hope To love To mope But my heart knows the way It lets me leave or stay And in the end it sings to me About how to live and truly be I have spent a lot of time in recent weeks mulling over thoughts and feelings and analysing pros and cons. I have had to make some difficult decisions and my rational mind has not been able to answer my questions with an answer that feels right. Perhaps now that there is more time to reflect, I have felt my heart in my chest and have realised that it has a voice too, and that ultimately, I need to listen to that voice. It feels as though it knows everything in my mind, body and soul and that it lives in truth. Whenever I ask it for answers, I feel its truth. I hope this poem opens you up to the voice of your heart too. I have found the experience very profound. 19.01.2022 What if? By Sue Ellson https://sueellson.com/blog/what-if... What if you believed they loved you Not hated you What if you believed they cried for you Not laughed at you What if you believed they spoiled you Not denied you What if you believed they empowered you Not controlled you What if you believed they heard you Not ignored you What if you believed they appreciated you Not frustrated you What if you believed they adored you Not admonished you What if you hated them Not loved them What if you laughed at them Not cried for them What if you denied them Not spoiled them What if you controlled them Not empowered them What if you ignored them Not heard them What if you frustrated them Not appreciated them What if you admonished them Not adored them Is now the time To believe something different To do something different To be something different To look through new eyes To see a new truth To see yourself in others To see others in you Can you believe the best? Can you accept the rest? In yourself? In others? Then simply ask, what if? As I was doing my housework today, I asked myself a very simple question. What if I believed that the person I had been in love with actually loved me? Did I get it all wrong and just assume they didnt love me? Did I behave as if they didnt love me? Did that give them the wrong message? Then I felt compelled to ask a variety of other questions about the people I have met on my life journey. What if I believed something different and could see the lesson or the gift they had tried to share with me instead of reacting to the challenge I felt? I have to say, it made me look at a lot of situations very differently and now I can look back and see them all as possibilities I hope it helps you With love, Sue Ellson #whatifpoem #whatifpoetry #sueellson #sueellsonpoem #poem #poetry

16.01.2022 Resilence By Sue Ellson https://sueellson.com/blog/resilience... As each challenge appears I can push past my fears To resist the damage To recover from ravage The pain The conflict The strain The relic Of memory Of time Of wishing Of mine Surprised to be confronted Alone in my past Surprised to be confounded Again in my cast But just as the broken bone Mends itself in time I can release the plaster And emerge just fine The process starts The process goes The process ends The process flows Dynamic In tune Repeated So soon Mystified When I rise Released Revived Ready to strive Now resilient Now competent Now content With what will be With what Ill see And how Ill be In my story A dear friend of mine is currently studying the topic of resilience and she gave me some words related to resilience, including ecologies (the ability to resist damage and recover quickly), process, surprise, approaches and dynamic. These were incorporated into the poem above. I hope that this poem resonates with you if you need a little extra resilience right now. 15.01.2022 Back in 2015, I attended a 'Long Term Unemployment Conference' and at the end of the first day, I stormed off to my computer and furiously wrote this article. I referred it to a client today and have updated it in light of the current restrictions we face and the challenges that will be facing many people over the coming months. I sincerely hope that any future 'employment programs' help people understand their real value, their peculiarity, their strengths and their persona...l context. At the end of the article, I also link to further articles that may also be of interest. 13.01.2022 Child Within Text, audio & description at https://sueellson.com/blog/child-within By Sue Ellson... The child within Is not full of sin The child within Can begin again With compassion With care With love With trust To turn away From the murky dust Of shame Of pain Of loss Of heartache To turn towards A new daybreak Safe to grow Safe to explore Safe to release Safe to adore The child within Can begin again #childwithinpoem #innerchildpoem #beginagainpoem #sueellson #sueellsonpoem #poem #poetry On the journey of life, I have met so many people who have had a difficult childhood. When I hear their stories, I wonder to myself, 'How can they heal their own inner child?' I am not a psychologist and I can't help with the tools and techniques, but as a poet, I want to acknowledge the challenge of 're-parenting' one's own inner child and making sense of the world from an adult perspective, when during childhood, there was only a child's limited perspective. It doesn't justify anything, but it can sometimes lead to understanding some things (because when you are older, you can see different points of view). Self love can be difficult. Self compassion is essential. Today, I would simply like to acknowledge the brave souls who are willing to go through the shame, pain, loss and heartache and do what it takes to begin again and find what is truly within. With love, Sue Ellson :)

12.01.2022 What a difference By Sue Ellson - online at https://sueellson.com/blog/what-a-difference/ What a difference a day makes When you feel completely out of your zone... What a difference a walk makes When your mind wont leave you alone What a difference a question makes When the answer confirms your suspicions What a difference a choice makes When you follow the strength of your convictions What a difference a song makes When it says exactly how you feel What a difference a tune makes When it sounds like the wound you need to heal What a difference a day makes When you start your day anew What a difference a walk makes When your steps have a new groove What a difference a question makes When you clarify your view What a difference a life makes When it supports anothers too I was fortunate to watch a movie about Sensitive People with another Sensitive Person last year and it made me realise how sensitive I am not only in my personal relationships, but also in my work and general everyday living. Over the last week, I have been extra sensitive and I am blessed to have a variety of friends who I can chat to on a regular basis. I am always looking for solutions and sometimes, even just talking will help. One day was full of several emotions and I decided to just wait and see how I felt the next day so I reported back to my friend, What a difference a day makes because I happened to feel so much better the next day. Yesterday, I started to feel very wound up again and this time, my friend actually visited and we enjoyed afternoon tea together. In our chat, I realised that what I needed to do was go for a walk and sure enough, I reported back two hours later, What a difference a walk makes as once again, I felt so much better. Today, I was in another discussion and I was bold enough to ask a question that really needed an answer. I received a reply that confirmed why I had been so emotional all week. On reflection, it seems as though my intuition had been trying to tell me what I already knew all week. What I have learnt is that I obviously need to be brave enough to wait a day, take a walk and ask questions when something is on my mind as I truly

11.01.2022 Internal Wisdom By Sue Ellson How often do we ignore... The whisper in our ear The one that quietly tells the truth The voice of wisdom not of fear How often do we ignore Those words of gentle warning Why does our conscious mind Override our own understanding We know we should listen We know what we need to do Why dont we react Why dont we hear Our internal guide Holds us so dear Because we live in hope Of dreams and fantasies Of moments we imagine But then our world Comes crashing down And once again, we feel broken But then the voice of wisdom Reminds us of what we were told And rather than accuse us Creates an embracing hold To help us remember We are our own best friend To help us carry on To get ready to start again And heres hoping that next time When I hear that whisper in my ear I will trust myself, pause and listen And act upon, my internal wisdom As we go through life, we are encouraged to trust our gut and yet we are also encouraged to get outside our comfort zone to achieve what we want. What happens then, when we hear our gut or our inner voice tell us something we dont really want to hear? When I think about the times I have listened, I have saved myself from some pretty tricky situations. But then on other occasions, I hope for something more and go out on a limb and often find, usually within a week, that I really should have listened. It is as if I have a reset button, there to remind me to trust myself and my internal wisdom. It sees what my conscious mind cannot see. Thankfully, when I make the realisation, I am reminded of my own wisdom and in writing this poem, I hope it inspires you to listen to your internal wisdom too. 10.01.2022 Generosity By Sue Ellson https://sueellson.com/blog/generosity/... Give and take is just an exchange Lead with your heart, be the change It isnt easy when old paradigms exist It isnt easy when so many people resist Locked, loaded, often exploded The old ways linger and get reloaded The weak exist in a state of confusion The strong persist and reach new conclusions It is okay to give your love away And risk the investment that you have made But over time you will come to learn There are some people you can keep, and some you can churn They may not be ready for what you have to offer But there will be others that can receive your proffer The lost will get a glimpse of love without limits Even if it gives you the absolute irrits! Just take a step back And look around Focus on your nearest and dearest Take a stand on sacred ground Your love is amazing Your love is true So focus on those Most important to you Then after that Think how can you be The most useful to others Sharing generously Your love is here Your love is now Your love can heal Your love is wow! I have personally chosen to live a generous and abundant life, believing that there is always love to give and that there is enough for everyone. That is why so much of the content I produce is free and accessible to anyone. From time to time, I have come across people who feel confronted by my approach. I have read a lot of self-help information over the years and I have discovered it can also be a form of control! Yikes. I may also be an extra-sensitive empath as well double yikes! So I have had to learn the hard way that not everyone is ready for the world of love and abundance and definitely not the world of generosity. But this week, I realised that rather than chase the people who dont appreciate my gestures, I really should redirect those additional efforts back to my nearest and dearest and find new ways to share the message of love to people who will appreciate the inspiration and encouragement. I trust that my future blessings will reach more people who need it and likewise, that they will be inspired and encouraged to pass their love on, in their own way, as well. With love, Sue Ellson #generositypoem #generositypoetry #sueellson #sueellsonpoem #poem #poetry

08.01.2022 Ill stay at home By Sue Ellson https://sueellson.com/blog/ill-stay-at-home... Ill stay at home And help the cause To stop the virus I need to pause Ill stay at home And help my community To stop the virus I need to do my duty Ill stay at home And reach out to my friends To stop the virus I need to make amends Yes I feel weird Yes I feel strange Yes I wish We could just be together again Yes I am frustrated Yes I could scream Yes I wish I could be on lifes team But I cant right now And thats okay So lets find a way To be okay today I can write a letter I can draw a picture I can put it in the post Signed, sealed and delivered I can share my love In a different way Imagine the surprise When it is opened one day I can listen without distractions On a video call I can show I understand Even if they drop the ball For I know deep down That the virus is here But kindness and compassion Can also spread this year Then when we look back We will see we have changed We will be wiser and kinder And never quite the same Here in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, we are in Stage 4 Lockdown and I know that it is very trying for many people. Even the most resilient of us have had to find new ways to adjust to a different lifestyle. We can take strength from the stories of other people in history who have survived even more challenging conditions, but we still need to face the reality of each day and the gremlins in our mind that are not always kind or compassionate to ourselves or to others. However, I believe we can all find a way to press on and if one technique doesnt work, we can always try another. I would like to personally thank all of the lovely people who have checked in on me and kept in touch. This year, I have been buoyed by beautiful music, lying in bed reflecting on stories I have heard and writing, a lot more frequently! I have now decided that writing will become a much larger part of my life something I officially started just four years ago when my first book was published, but with three more due before the end of the year, it is time for me to focus and share my wisdom, kindness and compassion in the best way I know how. I hope you can find many different ways to be wise, kind and compassionate to those you know, both near and far. May we ultimately create a virus of love to defeat the virus of COVID-19. 07.01.2022 My best suggestions for accessing the hidden job market include networking, referrals and voluntary work. However, during a pandemic, we need to be even more creative and this feature from Cayla Dengate looks at multiple suggestions from various people. Whilst you are here on LinkedIn, can I encourage you to: 1. Subscribe to job alerts... 2. Follow target companies you would like to work for 3. Connect to all of your past colleagues and friends 4. Write truthful and keyword rich recommendations (at least six) 5. Endorse your connections for their skills 6. Be the nice friend who engages with content of the VIPs in your life (that's how they remember you and it keeps you busy) Remember that referrals account for up to 85% of business - and if people know that you are out there and know your skills and they can easily find you via a search on LinkedIn, you will achieve your work goals sooner than you think! https://www.linkedin.com//find-the-hidden-job-market-4892/ #hiddenjobmarket #careers #gigsters #sueellson

06.01.2022 COVID-19 has changed one thing more significantly than anything else - the speed of adaptation to technology. We use technology to do our work, maintain our network and secure future work every day now. In my training sessions, I often find people with a lot of worldly experience forgetting that digital experience is also vital and I believe that there are various ways to help a digital person be wise and a wise person to be digital. 06.01.2022 I lived By Sue Ellson https://sueellson.com/blog/i-lived... I hurt when you criticised me I hurt when you ignored me I hurt when you rejected me I hurt when you stifled me I healed when I forgave you I healed when I talked to others I healed when I took responsibility for my own life I healed when I created my own boundaries I lived when I spoke my truth I lived when I found my tribe I lived when I listened to my heart I lived when I actioned my future In my work and through my friends, I hear a lot of stories. There are common themes that come out in so many stories, particularly in relation to what other people have said or done and how that has affected them over time. Likewise, in my own life, I have had to find various ways to heal and now, I do my best to live according to the highest respectful values-driven principles I can find. It has ultimately boiled down to me taking full responsibility for everything I say, do or promise and it takes a consistent commitment to courageous action. Ultimately, I would like to spend more of my time using my gifts to serve others so that they too, can find ways to bring their gifts to life. 05.01.2022 Dream By Sue Ellson https://sueellson.com/blog/dream/... I had a dream That was so sublime Then one day I woke up Realising I had run out of time I had a dream Of freedom and peace Then one day I woke up Realising the chase never ceased I had a dream Of life as a song Then one day I woke up Realising I had it all along But it wasnt just one song Of love that went oh so wrong It was in fact a full album An ups and downs life amalgam Now when I look back I can see That life is all about how to be In moments throughout each and every day A dream, a wish, a pleasure, simply done today I read a post on social media this week about not waiting for pleasure but finding pleasure in moments throughout the day. Like when you feel a breeze, or the water on your body in the shower or even the touch of your own hand on the other hand. How many of these moments in lockdown do we forget about when all we crave is the loving touch of our nearest and dearest who do not live with us? I am now making a conscious effort to feel pleasure throughout the day. Not the intellectual process of gratitude, but the feeling process through my body. As I write this, even the feeling of clothes on my body to keep me warm feels good. However, at this time, we are also thinking about our regular dreams that seem so elusive when we are waiting to be released back into a new normal. Lockdown has also given us a chance to look back. In January, I attended the Ludovico Einaudi concert at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne and it felt like a piece of music was being played before the end of time on earth. Now, I realise that it gave me a tremendous sense of calm and overall, I would say that I have not been afraid during lockdown. I can also look back and see that I have continued to live my dreams, even if some of them may feel like they are on pause right now. Today I heard about Max Richters Sleep album and that will be on my list to explore in the future. With love, Sue Ellson #dreampoem #dreampoetry #sueellson #sueellsonpoem #poem #poetry

03.01.2022 Remorse By Sue Ellson https://sueellson.com/blog/remorse... As I sit a while And think of the past The people Ive lost The times so sad The hearts Ive broken The tears Ive shed The smiles Ive forgotten The fears Ive fled As the tears well again For words Ive spoken And actions I wish Simply never happened Some silences never end Some thoughts always repeat Stuck on rotation Feels like defeat I did the best I could But was it enough? Why did those moments Fall off the cuff? Raw Unreal Wounded Surreal How many prayers will I speak To repent those tragedies Sent from a righteous peak How could I get it so wrong Why couldnt I see what I had done? As I remember pulling the trigger The bullet was fired, the pain still lingers How do I forgive myself For the moral crimes Ive committed? How do I move on When I think of the injured? Momentarily Ordinarily Warily Scarily Slowly Slowly Out of the dark Out of the gloom Reluctant to emerge From my doomed coccoon I lurch Modestly Gracefully With kindness With care The rogue in me Laid so bare It is time for me To be more aware To be more respectful To be more careful To think of others To put in buffers To protect To preserve To shield To strengthen To drop the gun To stop the fight To release control To invite the right Heal my scars Heal my heart Heal my thoughts Heal my part No intent No desire To cause that pain But here today To start again Remorse Regrets Contrition Absolute commitment To amendment For one For many Forever, humbly After writing a poem on Sunday about What if in relation to what I believed at a particular time and what if I believed something else, today I dug a little deeper into some of those moments in my life that I have regretted. Things I said or did that in hindsight, I can see were clearly inappropriate and must have been very challenging for the person on the receiving end. I cannot personally apologise to some of those people as they have moved on and made it very clear I should not contact them again ouch! I dont like permanent endings. However, I would like to find a way to learn from those experiences and definitely not repeat the same mistake twice. I hope this poem reminds you that you too can move on and find a way to forgive yourself in the process. With love, Sue Ellson #remorsepoem #remorsepoetry #sueellson #sueellsonpoem #poem #poetry

01.01.2022 Nothing By Sue Ellson Online at https://sueellson.com/blog/nothing/... Id like to do nothing Nothing Nothing Nothing My life is so full of emotions That cant be solved with potions My life is so full of injuries That cant be healed with luxuries So Id like to do nothing To stop this roller coaster I want to get off this crazy track And find a way to get my life back So let me do nothing Let me do the clearing So let me do nothing And move beyond existing When my life slows down I can be in my vibration Why my life is calm It needs no explanation In nothing Ill stop wrestling In nothing Ill be everything Then after the pause Return once more Refreshed Revived So much more alive Do nothing today And say goodbye to yesterday I have a very dear friend that I see on a regular basis and we meet to genuinely share our trials and tribulations. Today, this friend told me that they would like to do nothing. That was their goal, to do nothing. I loved this idea and said I had to write a poem about it. When thinking about what to write, I included some of the ways that all of us try, in one way or another, to explain our need for space, time and freedom. The irony is that we dont really need to explain anything. We just need to find a way to steer our own ship and at the same time, allow the water to help us be.
