25.01.2022 It has been a gift this year to support so many fabulous finance leaders as they have navigated this challenging year. I am grateful for those clients who continued to invest in professional development, knowing that during times of adversity it is doubly important to focus on bringing your best self to work and leading your team with courage and compassion. I am grateful to those people who took the time to engage in deep rich conversations with me.... I am grateful to those connections who referred business my way because it demonstrates such trust in me. And I am grateful to those contacts who liked, shared or commented on my posts and articles. All these small actions made a difference to me, like I'm not shouting into a vacuum! As a gift to all of you I offer my 6 Questions for Reflection to kickstart your reflections on what has been one hell of a rollercoaster ride of 2020!! If you would like to receive it please comment below. #CFOs #leadership #reflections

24.01.2022 Happy New Year!! I hope you have had an opportunity to have a break and reflect on the year that was, with all its ups and downs! So what do you want from 2021? What are your dreams and aspirations? Do you have your compass to show you the way?... Getting clear on where you are headed and how you want to show up is the starting point for greater fulfilment. This does not have to mean being fixated on goals, it is much more about discovering what is important to you and pointing yourself in the right direction. If this is the work you would like to do this year so that you can be an exceptional leader I would love to walk alongside you. #CFOs #Leadership #executivecoaching

24.01.2022 In the words of one of the current participants: "The CFO Women's Circle is a place to be surrounded by like minded female CFOs who have lived experiences about their roles, personal stories to share and where I am able to reflect and grow as a individual and a leader. I have found it immensely beneficial as I have navigated my way through these uncertain times." When we are coping with stress and uncertainty we need more than ever to find our tribe and to have an outlet to e...xplore what we are feeling, and how that is impacting our careers and our personal lives. If you are a female CFO and would like to know more please get in touch - see the comments below for my next complimentary intro session. #CFOs #leadership #womeninfinance #CFOWomensCircle

24.01.2022 During this time of uncertainty how can we reassure our employees and make plans to move forward, whilst also acknowledging that we don't have all the answers? How can we be open and vulnerable and still provide calm and stable leadership? The key is growing your certainty in yourself - your values, your purpose and your strengths, as well as developing your ability to regulate your own emotional responses. How are you creating the space to do your own inner work so that you can be both courageous and compassionate in your leadership?

24.01.2022 These are certainly the questions that many CFOs I am working with are grappling with and yes the abyss of uncertainty is scary which is why we must start the work of CFO as leader by building certainty in our selves and our ability to sit in the discomfort of so much uncertainty. To do this work requires us to create time and space for reflection, questioning our values and our purpose so that we know what we are aspiring to, and grow our confidence about taking action where... necessary. This is tough work but we don't have to do it alone - who is supporting you as you look into the abyss of uncertainty? #CFOs #leadership #womeninfinance #executivecoaching https://www.forbes.com//4-questions-cfos-must-answer-as-/

24.01.2022 We're back on the rollercoaster of changing Covid restrictions so make sure you treasure every connection you have with your family and friends, no matter what form it has to take. And gift yourself an opportunity to celebrate your achievements, large & small, over the course of this very difficult year. Enjoy a happy and safe holiday season!

24.01.2022 I was cynical about the term Executive Presence for quite along time because we really don't need more jargon added to corporate life! And I was also concerned about the potential "self-centred " focus of it, feeding into the outdated notion that the leader needs to be big in voice, character, volume and confidence in order to be successful. However if we reframe it as being our ability to connect with the people we serve, and our ability to inspire, empower and engage those ...around us in our organisations in service of our purpose then it takes on a whole new level of importance for me! What are your thoughts on executive presence? #CFOs #leadership #executivepresence https://www.forbes.com//executive-presence-what-is-it-wh/

23.01.2022 My work with leaders is all about being both courageous and compassionate and this article is focused on how you can do that by raising your standards rather than lowering them. An interesting idea isn't it? 23.01.2022 2020 has been a tough year for everyone, even those clients of mine who work in businesses which have done very well as a result of Covid have been under a huge amount of pressure. So it is not surprising if you are feeling tired! But it could also be that you are carrying around some extra baggage which is making life even harder - check out this article for what those things might be! If you'd like to talk about what's holding you back please get in touch.... #CFOs #leadership https://www.forbes.com//9-surprising-things-holding-you-/

23.01.2022 Are you tired? This year has been a tough one and I know that many CFOs have felt under enormous pressure, and are just focusing now on getting to the Christmas break. So what will be different next year? Hopefully many things such as the economy picking up and international travel opening up but what is actually within your control? Now is a great time to think about how you will be supported in your personal and professional growth - how can you have more influence in your ...workplace? how can you increase the impact you have? how can you ensure you have the support you need? You do not need to do this work alone - partnering with an executive coach can provide you with a space for reflection, unpack your assumptions, reframe your stories, challenge you to see multiple perspectives, and together we can co-create new possibilities, which can transform your leadership. How will you make 2021 different? #CFOs #leadership #executivecoaching #narrativecoaching

22.01.2022 2020 threw many unexpected challenges at us and now is the time to create some time and space to reflect on what we learned from this year. It is also a great time to think about what we want in 2021 and how we can be intentional about our personal and professional development. How are you going to be intentional about your learning in 2021? This absolutely requires you to step away from all the busy "doing" in our lives to find clarity around what next and this is where coac...hing can help. #CFOs #leadership #executivecoaching https://www.forbes.com//why-intentional-learning-is-the-n/

22.01.2022 Everyone I know has been on an emotional rollercoaster this year, facing highs and lows, and almost everyone I speak to is exhausted and looking forward to a holiday! And yet as a leader you cannot stop showing up for your people. It is critical that you manage your own energy so that you can keep showing up as the leader you want to be - with purpose and positivity. Now is the time to think about what you want to achieve moving forward and how you can keep heading in the rig...ht direction. Now is a great time to get yourself supported so you come into 2021 knowing where you are going. You do not need to do this alone! If you would like to talk about how executive coaching can support you please get in touch.

22.01.2022 Leadership requires constant learning and that takes curiosity, as do creativity and innovation. If you want your team to think differently you also need to be willing to think differently and to create a safe environment for curiosity. Curiosity is one of the 4C's of leadership on which I have written a series of blogs and I like the examples in this article of ways to instill curiosity in a team. #CFOs #leadership #curiosity... http://ow.ly/JXOj50BPCfd

21.01.2022 In a presentation for Michael Page to a fantastic group of women in finance I asked the question: What was the essential element to your relationship with the best leader you have worked for, which inspired you to do your best work? As you can see the number 1 element if Trust. As a leader how are you building trust with your team?... Key to building trust is authenticity, so how well do you understand yourself and how you impact others? Working with an executive coach can support you to understand and develop your authentic leadership presence. #CFOs #womeninleadership #leadership

21.01.2022 It is not always easy to bring your whole-hearted authentic self to work as a leader. There is great pressure to "fit in", to live up to the Don Draper ideal of what the perfect worker looks like! Working with an executive coach can give you the safe space to explore what is really important to you and how you wish to bring that to life in your role as a leader. As I walk alongside you we co-create new possibilities, freeing you to put down the mask. Are you hiding behind a m...ask at work? 21.01.2022 Stepping up into senior leadership roles requires us to do things differently. One of the toughest things for me was being able to say "I don't know" and to empower other people to find the answers rather than feeling I had to know them all. I believe finance leaders find this particularly hard because they have been rewarded through their whole career for their technical expertise. What do you need to do differently?... #CFOs #leadership http://ow.ly/2i5X50AytbD

21.01.2022 I love a good busy dance floor! But if you are always in the middle of the dance floor you simply can't see everything that is happening around you, get clear on the overall choreography or know who is involved so it is essential that you take time to get up on the balcony where you can get a new perspective and see more of the moving parts and how they interact. Is it time for you to get up on the balcony? If so let's talk about how I can partner with you to see new perspect...ives and co-create new possibilities. #CFOs #leadership #exceutivecoaching

21.01.2022 Compassion is a core component of great leadership, and yet all too often we forget that it includes self-compassion. I often find that clients berate themselves in a way that they would never speak to a friend or colleague - there are some great tips in this article for developing your self-compassion. #CFOs #leadership #mindfulness #executivecoaching #selfcompassion... http://ow.ly/aW8w50Cl9hU See more

20.01.2022 How do you connect your team to the purpose of the organisation? How are you going to understand the intrinsic motivators of your people? Another wonderful conversation with the fabulous Paula Kensington. #CFOs #leadership #purpose... http://ow.ly/NR4l50Aytxj See more

20.01.2022 Compassion towards others is critical during this difficult time to ensure that we are supportive of our teams and our peers, however what I see I lot with my CFO clients is that they forget that they are also worthy of compassion. Are you practicing self-compassion? How are you looking after your own energy levels, physically, mentally & emotionally? How are you ensuring you have the support you need on your leadership journey? You really do have to put your own oxygen mask ...on first! Working with an executive coach can help you to create the time and space to be the best leader you can be. #CFOs #leadership #womeninleadership #executive coaching #narrativecoaching

20.01.2022 One of the great rewards in my work is seeing the growth in my clients, as they navigate their way to the next level of leadership. #CFOs #leadership #executivecoaching

19.01.2022 The role of CFO is a constant balancing act, managing short term cash and business requirements with the need to steward the business in a sustainable way for the long term. The CFO may also find themselves caught between differing expectations of the Board, senior leaders, employees and external stakeholders. It is essential then that CFOs are able to have courageous conversations, that they are adept at both listening and speaking up. My work with CFOs involves working with... them to reconnect with their values and their purpose, and supporting them to have those courageous conversations. This often involves unpacking the old stories which have been driving their behaviour so that they can reframe them and become more influential and effective. If this is something you would like to do please schedule a time to chat using the link in the comments below. #CFOs #leadership #executivecoaching #narrativecoaching

19.01.2022 One of the highlights for me of the CFO Forum a couple of weeks ago was interviewing Dr John Hewson on the role of business leaders to take action on major social issues, such as sustainability, and to think long-term even when political action is lacking. There are so many economic opportunities available when we shift our perspective from single-minded short-term focus on shareholder profits. #CFOForum #CFOs #leadership #sustainability #climatechange #purpose... https://www.linkedin.com//cfoforum1_cfo-forum-8-october-2/ See more

19.01.2022 I spent so many of my younger years in the corporate world ensuring that I fit the right corporate identity but as Melinda Gates said in her book The Moment of Lift "fitting in is over-rated"! It is only when you embrace all facets of yourself that you can achieve your potential. 19.01.2022 One of the bright spots of 2020 for me was kicking off the CFO Women's Circles. I love working with these amazing women in small groups, supporting them in their personal and professional growth, and connecting them to other women who have walked in their shoes. "Knowing I am not alone is so valuable" is one of the most common takeaways from these sessions and "enriched" describes the feeling at the end of a session.... 19.01.2022 The stories we tell ourselves determine how we show up in the world and how we interact with each other. What stories are you carrying with you that are actually holding you back from what you really want to achieve? Perhaps it is the story that because you are the leader you SHOULD have all the answers, and therefore you can't ask for help?... Perhaps it is the story that to look after your own needs is selfish? Perhaps it is the story that someone with your background doesn't deserve the C-suite position? Perhaps it is the story that to admit you are having personal problems would mean you are weak? All of these are stories which have arrived fully formed in my coaching space & my goodness they can be heavy! However when I work with a client to challenge their assumptions, and help them unpack their stories new possibilities emerge. So remember you have a choice to change your story and write a new ending. If you would like to work with me to do that I would love to hear from you. #CFOs #leadership #executivecoaching #narrativecoaching

19.01.2022 I love my work! This is why I do what I do. This is the description of the CFO Women's Circle by one of the participants: "An anchor which grounds me, fills me and sets me on my way each and every month. I spend the days beforehand telling myself I don't have the time, then I turn up and it's exactly where I am meant to be - with an inspiring group of intelligent and self-aware women who reflect back at me and give me the space to learn and grow, safely guided by Sue."... If you are a senior female finance leader and would like to know more please get in touch. #CFOs #leadership #womeninfinance #womeninleadership #CFOWomensCircle

19.01.2022 As we move forward in how we work, the choice is not binary: all back to the office or all work from home. It is essential that as leaders we understand what our employees want and need and work with them as individuals. Part of that work is creating what Margie Warrell eloquently calls "a culture of courage". I love her tips for doing that. http://ow.ly/3A3M50AEHeJ

19.01.2022 This Forbes article highlights a number of the same issues being discussed at the CFO Forum recently - covering the need for a CFO to be a true leader with a much broader reach than used to be the case. We cannot focus solely on financial matters. #CFOs #leadership #womeninfinance #executivecoaching https://www.forbes.com//part-two-5-tips-for-finance-lead/

17.01.2022 Do you feel like you are on a rollercoaster? I feel like I have experienced so many highs and lows, twists and turns over the last few months, and most of my clients have felt the same. So my question is how clearly can you think when you are actually hanging upside down on a rollercoaster? Is that the best moment in which to make decisions? Working with an executive coach provides you with an opportunity to step off the rollercoaster, find some calm and take new perspectives... on what is happening both within you and around you. Would you like to get off the rollercoaster? Let's have a chat about how you can do that! #CFOs #leadership #executivecoaching

17.01.2022 Supporting leaders to lead with courage and compassion is key to the work I do - this article provides a great example of why our interconnectedness calls on us to bring more compassion to work. #CFOs #leadership https://www.forbes.com//why-now-is-the-right-time-to-sta/

16.01.2022 At last week's CFO Forum it struck me that there were an incredible number of speakers and panelists who are currently changing roles. This year has seen enormous changes in how we work and how we live and I believe it has been the catalyst for many people to rethink what they are doing and what they want to do next. All of these CFOs had stuck with their employer through the initial phase of the crisis when they knew they were absolutely critical to the organisation navigati...ng uncertain waters, however now that the waters have calmed somewhat they are seeking to ensure that the next stage of their career delivers the growth they are looking for both personally and professionally. To me this demonstrated both the responsibility CFOs feel and also the fact that we can all get swept along on the organisation's journey and it is important to stop and reflect on what we as individuals are trying to achieve, and how we can best work toward our own aspirations. If you are a CFO and you have stepped up into a new more challenging role and would like support navigating a new environment or if you are a CFO who is in the reflective phase and feeling stuck, please get in touch. #CFOs #leadership #executivecoaching

15.01.2022 "I am not alone" - this is one of the best realisations from connecting with your peers at a CFO Women's Circle, as we share experiences and reflect on achievements and challenges. And there is just one last opportunity in 2020 to get a taste of the CFO Women's Circle experience! If you are a senior female finance leader and you want to set yourself up for success in 2021 it is essential that you have a strong peer network, and a space for growth, facilitated by an experience...d coach who has also been a CFO (that's me!) I look forward to seeing you there! #CFOs #leadership #womeninleadership #womeninfinance #CFOWomensCircle http://ow.ly/fJ6K50Cw06V

15.01.2022 This is something I know all too well from my time as a CFO, and something I see all too often in my clients, particularly those who are taking their first steps into being a leader - an inability to delegate either sufficiently or effectively. Our failure to delegate effectively usually stems from our need to be in control and have all the answers, and stepping out of the detail requires us to trust our team members, all of which can feel pretty scary! Some good tips here. #...CFOs #leadership http://ow.ly/CToV50AHS2D See more

15.01.2022 The CFO Women's Circles are creating such rich, deep conversations, and beautiful bonds between the participants. 15.01.2022 Here we are at the end of 2020! Let's not focus on celebrating simply our achievements or goals of 2020 because it is possible that we did not achieve what we wanted due to circumstances beyond our control, rather let's celebrate all those moments when we have shown up as the person we want to be, or have taken steps (no matter how small) towards the future we want to create. Let's celebrate those people we love, those who fill our lives with joy, and those who challenge us t...o learn new lessons! #CFOs #leadership #celebrations

14.01.2022 Given the rollercoaster of emotions we have all been on in recent months emotional agility is absolutely essential for enabling us to cope with the ups and downs. This article contains 3 great tips: Accept you can't be positive all the time Be curious about what you are feeling... Practice self-compassion In order to be an effective leader we must first be able to look after ourselves. #leadership #CFOs #wellbeing #emotionalagility http://ow.ly/mePw50AR0TS

14.01.2022 In these times of great uncertainty it will be our leaders who demonstrate 4 C's of leadership: Commitment, Compassion, Curiosity and Courage who empower their teams to thrive. Delighted to see Brene Brown is talking about the same topics! (ok I am a huge fan of hers!) #CFOs #leadership #womeninleadership... http://ow.ly/ee0H50B0SyN

13.01.2022 So many CFOs I have been talking to over the last few months have been running on adrenaline, and that was what kept them going through long hours and uncertainty but now what? Now is the time to ask ourselves what is the future we want to see and how can we create a future which is more inclusive and more purpose driven. Have you thought about your post-pandemic purpose? What is your purpose as a leader and how aligned are you with the purpose of your organisation?... I was delighted to present on this topic for my keynote last week to the NSW CFO Live Webcast. #CFOs #leadership #purpose

13.01.2022 The role of the CFO has been changing over the last few years, as increasingly they have been required to step out from a back room where they were taking care of financial operations and structuring, and to engage more with all stakeholders, not just investors and lenders. And as a senior leaders in the business it is also essential that CFOs understand the role they play in creating and maintaining healthy organisational culture. As Adele Ferguson says in this article "prof...it at all costs" cultures no longer cut it. Diversity at senior leadership and board levels is critical to shifting this, and we all have our part to play. #CFOs #leadership #womeninfinance #executivecoaching https://www.smh.com.au//rio-tinto-s-executive-cull-shows-p

13.01.2022 Are you trying to do it all yourself? Being a leader can leave us feeling exhausted and isolated, which results in us being less influential and having less impact than we would like. You don't have to do it alone - working with an executive coach supports you by creating a space for reflection and planning, where you can work through your own stories, be challenged to see new perspectives and feel empowered to step into unknown spaces to move towards your aspirations.... Who is walking alongside you on your leadership journey? Please schedule a call using the link below in the comments if you would like to talk about how coaching could support you. #CFOs #leadership #executivecoaching

13.01.2022 If you are a CFO you have clearly already achieved a huge amount of success in your career, so you might ask what are the benefits of working with a coach? Many CFOs are feeling stressed and isolated, and under huge pressure to deliver constantly so building a strategic pause into their week is critical. This means creating a space where you can slow down and reflect on not only what you are DOING but also who you are BEING. Are you showing up as the leader you want to be? Ar...e you having the impact you want to have? Working with an executive coach can help you unpack your stories, challenge your assumptions and co-create new possibilities, accelerating your growth as a leader. If you would like to know more please get in touch. #CFOs #leadership #womeninleadership #executivecoaching

13.01.2022 I see compassion as being one of the four critical C's of leadership, alongside commitment, curiosity and courage. And during this pandemic it feels more important than ever. I love how this article explains how being intentionally compassionate will have greater benefits for both you and your team than simply being empathetic. Both are developed through mindfulness and deliberate practice but compassion focuses on alleviating another's suffering. For a lot of empathetic wome...n I know in particular cultivating the ability to recognise what is my suffering and what is yours is critical to managing their own energy. #CFOs #leadership #womeninleadership #mindfulness #emotionalintelligence #executivecoaching http://ow.ly/BrYh50BjsQY

12.01.2022 Emotional intelligence has always been important for leadership but right now whilst we are all working remotely it is even more important to be intentional in building your awareness of your own emotional state and checking in with your teams to see how they are faring. Some good tips in this article for connecting with empathy. #CFOs #leadership #womeninleadership #emotionalintelligence... http://ow.ly/47aq50Bpzva See more

12.01.2022 Our own experiences create the lens through which we see everything in the world, so unpacking the stories we tell ourselves can help us find new perspectives. As we see new perspectives we start to see new possibilities both for ourselves and for how we interact with others. If you have been wondering why some of your colleagues or team members have not been "stepping up" in the way you expected this article is a great way to challenge your thinking.... #CFOs #leadership #compassion #executivecoaching #narrativecoaching https://hbr.org//without-compassion-resilient-leaders-will

11.01.2022 I really do "get it" when clients say they are simply too busy to have any time to themselves - what with a high pressure job, and kids, and a partner and elderly parents - the obligations can keep piling up and it gets harder and harder to know what we want or see where we are heading! AND yet we cannot deliver successfully in any of the areas which matter to us if we do not "slow down to go faster". If we are not clear on our values and our strengths and what brings us joy ...in the world how can we show up as our best selves to serve all those important people in our lives? I have just come back from a 3 day yoga retreat and my cup runneth over with gratitude and love. This is what restores me and enables me to show up in a fully present way for my family and my clients. What are you doing to restore your energy? To refuel your purpose? What are the daily, weekly, monthly practices which support your wellbeing so you can do your best work? #CFOs #leadership #wellbeing

11.01.2022 What a year this has been!! The emotional roller coaster has been real and so many CFOs I work with have been under enormous pressure, working hard to keep their organisations afloat. So I get it if you feel like you have hit a wall! Do you feel stressed, overwhelmed, isolated, exhausted? Like you are missing a safety net of like-minded women?... 09.01.2022 One thing I am passionate about is finding ways to improve gender equity at the top of organisations. When I started training as a chartered accountant 30 years ago there were already significant numbers of women entering the profession and yet still only 16% of ASX200 CFOs are women (according to the 2020 census by CEW), so women in these roles often feel isolated. To become an exceptional leader it is essential to have support around you, and one way is to join one of my CF...O Women's Circles. 09.01.2022 Getting clear on your purpose and priorities is one way coaching can support you to do your best work, giving you greater fulfilment in your life.

09.01.2022 Do you sometimes feel like you are trapped on a hamster wheel with no way to get off? If we get trapped by all the things we have to do it is easy to lose sight of why we are doing them at all! And sometimes it is easier to just keep doing than it is get off that wheel and create some time to pause! However it is only when we create that pause that we can reflect on the lessons we have learnt and also look to the ones we still need or want to learn. It took me a very long to ...realise that staying busy doing stuff all the time was actually doing me a disservice - it meant I never gave any thought to what I wanted in my career or how to ensure I was moving in the right direction. Taking time for meditation, yoga and coaching was the starting point for building my self-awareness, and self-awareness is critical to showing up as your best self, which is in turn critical for being an exceptional leader. What are you doing to ensure you have time for reflection and building your self-awareness? #CFOs #leadership #executivecoaching

08.01.2022 Leadership constantly presents us with new challenges but perhaps we also make it harder for ourselves as well? As we hang onto the idea that we have to have all the answers, or that it would be weak to ask for help how about we ask ourselves what do gain by maintaining these beliefs? And what do we lose by maintaining them?... How can you challenge your long held beliefs? #CFOs #leadership #executivecoaching

08.01.2022 As little girls so many women I know were encouraged to fit in by being "good girls", not too loud or outspoken, following the rules, pleasing other people, and all of these elements create who we are today. Part of my work with my amazing female CFO clients is supporting them to put down all that baggage and fully embrace everything that makes them different. 06.01.2022 Being an authentic leader is not as simple as turning up and saying "this is who I am, take me or leave me"! It requires us to figure how who we are and who we want to be, what is our purpose and how do we want to engage with other people. This work starts with you making a commitment to your own growth and development, and engaging a coach will help you along that journey. If you would like to know more about the process please schedule a call with me through the link below ...in the comments. #CFOs #leadership #authenticleadership #purpose #leadershipcoaching #executivecoaching

05.01.2022 Some really rich conversations were had at the CFO Forum last week, and I was so delighted to chair the event and facilitate those conversations. The CFO role has always been a critical one in organisations, and the last 6 - 7 months during the pandemic have demonstrated just how critical. CFOs have truly stepped into the limelight, working not only on financial solutions to challenges faced but also collaborating, communicating, influencing and inspiring to ensure that their... organisation not only survives but thrives. Thank you to all the speakers throughout the day who shared their experiences so generously. I hope that next time we can have the attendees back in the room as well! #CFOs #CFOForum #leadership #executivecoaching

05.01.2022 2020 has certainly been a tumultuous year! Many leaders I know have been riding the highs and lows, and many are now hitting a wall so if this is you it is time to consider how you manage your energy and position yourself for where you want to head now. Critical to doing that inner work is finding clarity on your personal values and also being able to articulate what it means to live those successfully - to help you with that exercise please download my Freedom & Fulfilment ...exercise. #CFOs #leadership #values #executivecoaching https://suerosen.lpages.co/authentic-leadership/

04.01.2022 Almost every woman I have ever known has been told at some point in their career that they are "too emotional", and most of them have had a cry at work at some point. We were told to park our emotions at the door but we are human beings, not robots, and our emotions come with us wherever we go! The key is how we work with our emotions, by acknowledging them & regulating them so that we have them, rather than our emotions have hold of us - I love the myth-busting in this artic...le. #CFOs #womeninfinance #femaleleadership #executivecoaching http://ow.ly/d2cc50B6Tws

04.01.2022 What stories are you carrying with you that are actually holding you back from what you really want to achieve? Often the obstacles to our progress which we initially identify are distractions or excuses, and once we dig deeper we uncover the beliefs and assumptions which are driving our behaviours. It is then that we can challenge those stories, and reframe them so that we can move forward more effectively. 03.01.2022 This article hits the nail on the head in terms of what you need to be a leader: - Purpose - To share your power (which requires vulnerability) - To foster learning (which also means continually learning yourself as well)... #CFOs #leadership http://ow.ly/k6WM50CeYsm

03.01.2022 Recent months have been hugely stressful and it is critical that as leaders we learn how to manage the impact of stress on our minds and bodies because our energy is so contagious to those around us. This is a great simple explanation of how and why mindfulness can be beneficial at work to support you through the turbulence of the modern workday. In my own life a mindfulness practice has been enormously helpful so I encourage you to give it a go.... #CFOs #leadership #mindfulness https://www.nytimes.com/guides/well/be-more-mindful-at-work

02.01.2022 I get it, you don't want to add anything else to your plate!! But leadership is a practice and we must continually keep learning and investing in our professional growth, and rather than adding tasks to your plate this can in fact be an excellent way to "slow down to go faster". Are you still investing in your growth as a leader so that you can truly inspire and empower those around you?... This is a subject close to both my and Paula's heart so join us at CFO Conversations! #CFOs #leadership #executivecoaching #learning http://ow.ly/N5VD50CeYcm

02.01.2022 Congratulations you have made it to the end of 2020 (almost!)!!! The ups and downs of this year have been phenomenal and most CFOs I know are exhausted. There was excitement, mental stimulation and plenty of adrenaline whilst in crisis management mode and also stress, isolation and fatigue as you had to step into the arena to deal with financial implications, work from home consequences, emotional and mental health challenges, home schooling, reduced pay, redundancies. But yo...u're still here and that is worth celebrating! It has been my privilege to support so many awesome finance leaders, who have led with courage and compassion during this period. And now it is important to rest and recharge for 2021, and my gift to you for the Christmas break is 6 Questions For Reflection to help you celebrate your achievements and re-set for a New Year. Comment with "reflections" below and I will connect and send you my reflections exercise to get you started. #CFOs #leadership #reflections

02.01.2022 "The best leaders use empathy to connect with employees and seek to learn where and how the personal sense of meaning that employees bring to work overlaps with the company’s purpose." As a leader how clear are you about your own sense of purpose and how that is aligned with that of the organisation? You will not be able to encourage employees to find a greater sense of meaning if you are not clear about yours. This is a great article about the importance of alignment and you... can only develop that if you have taken the time, invested the effort and opened yourself to vulnerability to explore what is important to you and challenged yourself to walk the talk. Have you done your own work? #CFOs #leadership #purpose #executivecoaching http://ow.ly/BQeK50CCmE8

02.01.2022 During a webinar last month I asked the audience of women in finance to describe the last 5 months in one word. Not surprisingly the words which came up most frequently were: challenging, uncertain and stressful! Given that has been the case for all of us how are you looking after yourself? How are you ensuring you can recover from this emotional rollercoaster we have all been on?... It is so important to remember to take care of our own wellbeing - we cannot perform at our best or look after others if our energy is completely depleted. What are you doing to support yourself at this time? I would love to hear. #CFOs #leadership #womeninfinance #executivecoaching

01.01.2022 Leadership requires us to be courageous - not necessarily in the physical jump off a cliff kind of way but in terms of digging deep to uncover our emotional courage.
