24.01.2022 These ones were from Green Camp Bali. Amazing family adventure!

24.01.2022 Need media training or public speaking training? We are Zoom friendly!

22.01.2022 It took less than a month for my new puppy (Rosie) to become a media star. This is what happens when you leave a dog with Ginger Gorman - the investigative journalist with heart for a day! https://hercanberra.com.au//are-these-canberras-cutest-o/

21.01.2022 Sometimes there’s a reason why your puppy is so quiet while you are working. #homeoffice #WFM

20.01.2022 For anyone pitching to journalists, editors, here's a tip: follow up, sure, but also, give them a chance to actually respond. Here's my (very polite) response to someone this morning which shows what's happening in the inboxes of editors/writers who are trying to churn through lots of pitches: "I may be interested but please don't follow up this quickly. You sent it at 4.30pm on a Friday. It's now not even 10am Monday. It was in my inbox to look at properly this week but TBH when I get follow ups like this all it does is slow down my response times overall. When I pitch to an editor I usually leave it 7-10 days to follow up. Any earlier is just frustrating for people."

18.01.2022 Darn, now I really want to go to Greenland. My recent story for CNBC https://www.cnbc.com//travel-to-greenland-is-booming-fjord

18.01.2022 Hungry? This will make things worse, sorry. (From me for SBS Food.) https://www.sbs.com.au//2020/02/13/meet-many-faces-meringue

17.01.2022 2 days to go! Would love your vote.

16.01.2022 When I wrote this one last month I didn’t realise it would become so pertinent so quickly. Hope it’s useful for some.

16.01.2022 Let me know if you need media training!

13.01.2022 Not writing related but here's what I've been up to in my spare time over the past twelve months :)

12.01.2022 Back home in Oz, was impressive to see visitors quickly become enamoured with this experience. (It WAS very good.) My story for CNBC is below. https://www.cnbc.com//canberras-national-zoo-aquarium-gets

12.01.2022 It’s exactly as described below.

10.01.2022 We just got back from Bali and I've been writing up a story about our experience for Jetstar. It's really left me thinking a lot about how Aussies are so one-eyed about Bali. People from across the world go there for culture, relaxation, etc, but Aussies seem to be fixated on it as a party spot with Bali Bogans, resorts and nothing else. We have it so wrong! My attitude to Bali is this: It's cheap (we usually pay $80-100 a night accom for decent place with pool and garden);... it's easy (our driver lovely and you don't need to lug any bags); the people are friendly and love kids; it's easy to make it a cultural experience if you try even a little bit, and if you are SMART about it it doesn't have to be a resort holiday (unless you want one, of course). I've been twice in the last 2 years and done: 1. Nusa Lembongan (small sleepy island only 30 min boat ride from Sanur). 2. Ubud - but not the busy version, the kid free chilled out version> We dip in and out of the busy as we like but do kids woodcarving classes, bike tours through small villages, lazy mornings by the pool, kid friendly walks up the ridge (ice cream at top!), etc. 3. East Coast of Bali - volcanic beaches, v few crowds. Snorkeling off the beach. 4. An eco resort (Sarinbuana) in the middle of the jungle - incredible and very well priced (our 2person room was under $100 a night). 5. Green Camp Bali - check this out below! We just spent the weekend with families from across the world at a site that's part of Green School Bali. Bamboo buildings, gorgeous jungle setting, adventures from building our own bamboo raft to mud wrestling (a Balinese tradition - we were taught by locals), and a beautiful mix of culture, sustainability education and adventure. All kid friendly. We will DEFINITELY be going back. I'm writing about this for Jetstar so will share when live but for now, here's a sample of what we did. (Yes, my 5yo climbed a coconut tree and so did I!) My point? Don't overlook Bali if you're after culture or something different. I think I clocked one Bali Bogan on this trip. Ok, maybe two. that's it :) PS. If you're into family travel, I share this kind of stuff in my FB Group called Kids Who Travel. Over 3500 families in there sharing tips etc. A lovely corner of the internet.

09.01.2022 For anyone doubting the potential long term effects of all the smoke we’ve had this summer due to the fires - here’s what ACT government health service is asking when parents of kindergarteners (first year of school in ACT) fill out the Kindergarten health check. Obviously long term implications are being investigated. Scary stuff.

09.01.2022 Excited to head out tonight to see my great friend and Media Bootcamp business partner Ginger Gorman - the investigative journalist with heart on stage interviewing Margaret Atwood. Pretty stoked to have the easy job of sitting in the audience with 1200 others watching these two work their magic. Ginger is a credit to the world of journalism so I'm incredibly proud of her! https://www.canberratimes.com.au//ginger-gorman-is-prepar/

08.01.2022 Here's what the non work me has been up to this week.

07.01.2022 A side hustle from me last weekend.

07.01.2022 Pretty excited - I just executive produced a podcast about COVID. First ep we have a historian talking about what history can teach us about the pandemic, then a legal scholar on gender and the pandemic, then a renowned economist talking the economy vs public health. I'd LOVE you to listen, subscribe and share as much as you feel inclined. It will all help get it out there. The amazing Ginger Gorman - the investigative journalist with heart is host and it's beautiful... (You can find it on iTunes, Spotify and soon, Google Play or just go to seriouslysocialpodcast.org.au https://podcasts.apple.com///seriously-social/id1509419418

06.01.2022 Proud to have Exec Produced this one.

06.01.2022 Exciting things coming! I’m EP on a new podcast! Stay tuned.

05.01.2022 Another one from my sent items today (yes, these posts are helping relieve my frustration - I'm going to keep them coming): "Hi [insert PR person name], Can you please remove me from generic media releases? They don't usually relate to a current story and just clog my inbox.... Sue This is why people need this course below. (Hint for those trying to learn: Generic media releases are an outdated comms technique. They can be useful SOMETIMES, in SOME situations, but far less frequently than most PR/comms folks realise. Maybe clients are making them write them? If you are this client - STOP! It's not helping you, let your experts do the things that work today, not 20 years ago.) https://mediabootcamp.com.au/products-ser/pitch-like-a-pro/

01.01.2022 Hi all - one of my editors (at Family Travel mag) asked me to write about solo parent travel post COVID (well, post lockdown!). If you’re contemplating it as things open up and it’s just you and the mini travellers you might enjoy this. Also, if you are a friend of mine within driving distance consider this your advance warning we will prob be visiting sometime! https://www.msn.com//setting-out-solo--solo-p/ar-BB15jvd4
