24.01.2022 Mental illness is often considered a taboo subject. We can talk about many subjects relating to health. Women will happily discuss Pap smears, breast examination, childbirth..... in gruesome detail; but visibly blanch if we mention depression or anxiety. Mental health is as important as any other aspect of health and needs to be openly discussed if we want to reduce the fear and stigma so often associated with mental illnesses. We cannot separate mind from body and both can affect and be affected by each other.

18.01.2022 Now accredited for Older Person's Mental Health First Aid - Excellent new version of Mental Health First Aid Training

13.01.2022 I have now become accredited to teach Older Persons Mental Health First Aid. This is a new version of the MHFA course designed specifically for carers of older persons in Australia. It deals with depression and anxiety in the older person with crisis interventions for suicidal thoughts and panic attacks. It introduces confusion in the older person and deals with crisis intervention with delirium and confusion. It then deals with the older person with psychosis and finally substance abuse. It is an excellent course for anyone caring for an older person with practical tips on dealing with potentially serious crises.
