20.01.2022 When gown meets cake | Its not every day that were delivered the challenge of translating the Brides gown detail into edible form on a wedding cake. Its unbelievably humbling when a family trusts you enough to take these details from a simple photo of the fabric and then gives you creative license to incorporate these elements as you choose. Freehand piping can be daunting and after 9 hours of solid work, a little ouchy on the hands and wrists.... but when a surprise ...like this little hits your inbox just a few short days post-wedding its hard not to feel a little goosebumpy and maybe a little teary in seeing it all come together - so.worth.every.minute. 18.01.2022 Its been such a long while in between posts. A few months back, I decided to take a little social media vacay - put the phone down and spend time focusing on my work and some areas that needed attention personally. 2017 has been a tough year at this end both mentally and emotionally and we often find ourselves getting caught up in the noise of social media, making comparisons and putting extra pressure on ourselves to attend to the needs and expectations of others before ...ourselves. Ive never been a much of a believer in depression and anxiety until I found myself overwhelmed by symptoms that became really tough to ignore. Its been a huge learning curve at this end and often a very lonely road - Ive learned that people too often distance themselves from those in need when they see that something is wrong instead of finding a way to show support. Its taken loads of time and soul searching in between cakes and life in general to finally feel like im getting back on track - like im me again. Anyone who knows me would know just how tough this is to admit - especially via social media. Im now in the process of starting again mentally, eliminating the toxic from my world, revamping our studio @thecollaborativecamden with the help of the amazing ladies at @evocativepr , rebranding @sugablossomcakes and being a much happier, determined version of myself. Dont make comparisons, dont cast judgement based on the opinions of others and take time away from the noise of social media occasionally without feeling guilt or pressure. Be kind to others and most importantly - yourself. Stay humble and dont be afraid to admit when something just isnt quite right or reach out to someone who needs it. Looking forward to posting snippets of everything weve worked on over the last few months, thank you so much for sticking with us. Loads of love to you all
