21.01.2022 Why did we call it Sugarloaf Honey? The Sugarloaf Apiary is located on the Nullaki Peninsula which is a wilderness conservation zone near the town of Denmark and bordered by the Wilson Inlet, the Southern Ocean, the West Cape Howe National Park, and Ocean Beach. Segregated from the mainland by a vermin proof fence that runs from Wilsons Inlet through to the Southern Ocean cliff face, the Estate has been established to provide protection to the natural habitat and unique flo...ra and fauna of the Great Southern region. Originally named by early Australian explorers as being a hill on the Nullaki that is "shaped like a Sugarloaf", Sugarloaf Hill is a pronounced hill that sits uniquely forward of the main Nullaki ancient limestone and sand dune ridge line and offers a protective backdrop to the Sugarloaf Honey apiary which is being established at its base. Our Sugarloaf honey bees will enjoy foraging in this diverse and dense protected wilderness comprising mainly Australian native flowering eucalypts.
06.01.2022 Hi, our names are Harrison & William and we would like to welcome you to our Sugarloaf Honey Facebook page. Sugarloaf Honey is our own little private honey production partnership which started when our parents encouraged us to learn about commerce and come up with something that we could produce when we are on school holidays on our family property in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. We thought... why not leverage off the pristine coastal bush environment of th...e Nullaki Wilderness Eatate and call on the help of 50,000 willing helpers to carry on our work when we are at school by producing honey for us to sell to anyone interested in pure unprocessed coastal bush honey. We collectively withdrew our savings and bought our first hive, a Flow Hive, where honey can be harvested without disturbing our busy workers. We have ordered our first nucleus colony or Nuc (a small viable colony with healthy queen to establish the new hive) and expect to receive this some time before January 2017. We hope to get our first harvest a few months later. We have decided to compound our joint earnings (our next lesson) from the sale of our honey and buy more hives for the following season to increase our production further. Wed love for you to follow our journey from concept to commercialisation, and we hope you end up buying and enjoying our little jars of golden awesome, fresh from the base of Sugarloaf Hill on the Nullaki Peninsula in Western Australia.
