23.01.2022 We know it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the day-to-day challenges COVID-19 has impacted on individuals. Some may have never been in a position where they need... extra financial assistance and may not be aware of the services available to them. This is where Samaritans come in. Samaritans have been partnering with local organisations to support the communities and individuals who have been most affected by the recent bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic. Every Monday between 1pm - 2:30pm, four (4) 20-minute appointments will be offered to anyone in the community who needs it, hosted by Renea Macpherson of Samaritans. YOU WILL NEED: Identification, proof of income and a four-week bank statement before the Samaritans can provide people experiencing financial hardship due to bushfire or COVID-19 with brokerage for bills, food vouchers and more. Appointments are strictly limited to 20minute sessions on Mondays between 1pm 2:30pm Failure to attend an appointment may result in ineligibility for future appointments. Ph. 02 4953 7108 to schedule an appointment or find out more information.

23.01.2022 A bit of humour to start the day off. One difficulty we have when livestreaming playgroup is that we are sometimes unable to be live, it is a busy centre and at... times we are limited as to where we can film without disturbing everyone. Today we are filming our segment focusing on worry, and we will then post it, so look for it just after lunch. See more

23.01.2022 Welcome to our new learning room! A space designed to help our little legends prepare for big school. This space has been an amazing addition to our service as ...it is supporting the children understand the expectations of a school setting. School readiness isn't all about the writing, ABC,s and counting though. Our staff work around the clock ensuring children are confident in self help skills, communication and friendships, conflict resolution, problem solving and so much more. This work is done over a period of time, which means we begin supporting our children from 3 to develop and build these essential skills. We are so proud of all the children that attended and continue to attend Sugarvalley ELC and we thank all our families for supporting us and letting us help support your little gems! See more

22.01.2022 Reclaim the night is a global protest for a women’s right to be free from sexual violence. #reclaimthenight The first rally was held in Belgium in 1976 by women attending the International Tribunal on Crimes Against Women. They marched and held candles to protest the ways violence permeates the lives of women globally. Australia’s first rally was in 1978 and continues as an annual event, demanding an acceptable response to violence against women in our community and worldwide.... The usual Reclaim the Night march and events have been cancelled this year we ask you to join us and invite the community to join the campaign by posting a #reclaimthenight selfie or photo with a candle, torch or purple glow stick this evening. The initiative hopes to create a unified voice and take a stand against violence.

21.01.2022 Hello members, as many of you know I've been compiling photo files of West Wallsend primary and high school for some time now. Our Museum is a little short on ...volunteers at the moment but due to Covid19 restrictions we can't take on new volunteers physically. However, I really need help with a data base for individual classes and student names as my computer skills don't extend that far. Ideally this can be done from home. If there's anyone interested in helping out I would really appreciate it. Just flick me a private message for more information. Thanks heaps. Terri

11.01.2022 Update: We have made a decision based on the feedback we received from the community for Taylor Park, Barnsley. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and ide...as - it was great to hear from our community. It was very close between the options. Most people who voted for option two did so based on the flying fox feature, while others really wanted swings. Luckily there's already a swing set at the park and these new elements will build upon a great play space! Based on community feedback we are going ahead with option two! We can't wait to see everyone swing, zoom and fly through the park. #letsplay ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The playground at Taylor Park, Barnsley is also set to receive a slight upgrade. See the two concept designs and features for the playground upgrade and vote on your favourite by commenting below before this Friday 21. Option 1 Features: Inclusive play fort with a plastic slide Tandem see-saw Accessible carousel Concrete access path Play shop Dual swings with nest swing Option 2 Features: Skytower with views across the park, an underdeck play shop, small dual slides and staircase and a high tube slide. 11.01.2022 It is important we all play our role to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in our communities.
