20.01.2022 Today is World Suicide Prevention day, and here in Australia, its also RUOK? Day. On April 27th this year, I lost the man I love with every ounce of my being, ...to suicide. Ive sworn to myself that I will fight the fight and rally for the cause. I will not rest until suicide becomes a dinner table topic and is discussed as openly and as freely as the latest episode of Game of Thrones. The stigma attached to suicide needs to stop. To every one of you who has been kind enough to reach out to me during the last few months and say If there is anything I can do, let me know, Im calling in that favour. Please, share this video. If you think someone may be suicidal, dont be afraid or embarrassed to ask them. Something as simple as asking the question or sharing this video, may just save the life of a family member or one of your mates. Someone you didnt even know was struggling. This video tells my story, and I share it with the hope that you will never have your own story to tell. All we need to do to #StopTheStigma is #StartTalking I miss you chicken head <3

19.01.2022 Have you, or someone you know, been bereaved by suicide? The Network is a series of support groups in the Hawkesbury, Penrith and Blue Mountains local government areas, designed specifically to support people who have been bereaved by suicide. Facilitated by a qualified health professional and trained co-facilitator, these fortnightly meetings are for people who want to connect with others who have had the same devastating experience of losing someone close to suicide. ... There is no cost to attend these groups as they are fully funded by The Network. We invite anyone who is interested in learning more about our groups and how to join to call the Group Manager on 02 4577 4435 or [email protected].

06.01.2022 Here are some snippets but please read the full article: This article was written with Rob McPhee, Deputy CEO of the Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service and co-chair of the Commonwealth-funded Kimberley Aboriginal Suicide Prevention Working Group. in too many cases, the causes of suicide for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is not mental illness, but despair caused by the history of dispossession combined with the social and economic conditions in which Abori...ginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples live. Prior to colonisation, Indigenous Australians could control their day-to-day living in ways that have been largely denied to them since. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people need the support and resources to find their own solutions. Having solutions provided to them, or coaxing them to adopt solutions discovered by others, will not work very well or for very long...
