23.01.2022 Earth Father, 2020. This shield made in Ironbark by Tim Selwyn was one of the first for this exhibition and a quiet favourite of Tim’s. The downward lines represent father, it’s smaller size represents humility. Everything about this work is magic! We invite you to come and have a closer look this weekend, 10 am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday. 22.01.2022 Robyn Campbell’s solo exhibition continues to dazzle until 22 November. This award winning work ‘Contour’ was created in three pieces that nest together. It beautifully represents Robyn’s skill in crafting arresting sculptural ceramic forms. Open today and all weekend. 21.01.2022 I Am Not An Individual opens this Saturday the 5th 10-4pm. Ultimately there is great joy in accepting my bit part in the complex network of nature. I no longer look at an animal lying in the sun and say, ’ignorance is bliss’ instead I think, ‘true knowing is bliss’. - Susie Dureau #individual #lyinginthesun #abstract #bliss #australianartists #interiordesign #visitcanberra #visitnsw #bungendore #oilonlinen @sdureau
21.01.2022 Echo #2 is the title piece of Robyn Campbell’s current solo exhibition. Expertly made in porcelain and polished glass, this work sings with a little bit of ambient light bringing the glass stone to life. As you move around it, the light shifts making it endlessly interesting #porcelain #glass #echoes #windowlight #visitnsw #bungendore #findmytreasure @light.mark @visitqueanbeyanpalerang
19.01.2022 ‘Joy has been an important compass for the navigation of this new world and that manifests in my paintings through colour and playful gesture. It is significant that the paint in these works is applied in various ways. I have scraped, rubbed, scratched, brushed and dotted. In nature there are so many ways to communicate through touch, vibration, smell and colour; I have tried to emulate some of these things in the application of paint.’ - Susie Dureau I am NOT an individual, a solo exhibition of new works by Susie Dureau opens this Saturday 5 September, 1-4pm. 19.01.2022 Susie Dureau’s new paintings are a joyful investigation of her shared materiality with the non-human world. Informed by the shapes in her previous landscape paintings, Dureau’s current work is a vibrant re-mapping of the worlds that went before. ‘Thinking about a direct link between our bodies and the landscape is the way into my ecological mind’, she says. Covid-19 has been a stark reminder of the power of a microbe to undermine human systems. While I believe our own species to be extraordinary in many ways, the separation of humans from nature is an illusion. I Am Not An Individual opens this Saturday the 5th from 10-4pm. The catalogue is available online now - click our bio. #oilonlinen #abstractart #abstract #reset #remapping #joy #visitnsw #bungendore #visitcanberra #buyart @sdureau
18.01.2022 Birds of a feather flock together, fine feathers make the bird, a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush, kill two birds with one stone...Not sure what it is about this painting by Susie Dureau, but it’s got me feeling chirpy Bird Friends, oil on linen, 51 x 41 cm, 2020. See Susie’s solo exhibition now until 11 October. Open all weekend 10am to 4pm or view the entire catalogue online sukihugh.com.au #birdlife #oilpainting #australianartist #abstractart #cbrarts #bungendore #southerntablelands #southerntablelandsarts
17.01.2022 I Am Not An Individual by Susie Dureau opens Saturday 5th, 10-4pm As a landscape painter I have thought deeply about what makes up the world. I have considered the sublime reality that I am a droplet on the surface of a tiny planet in a minor galaxy amongst billions of galaxies. But if the universe goes that far outside of my body - then what’s inside me? - Susie Dureau Online catalogue available now, click our bio.... #universe #stars #abstractart #blue #australianart #visitnsw #bungendore #exhibition #visitcanberra #gallery @sdureau See more
16.01.2022 The new works in this exhibition represent a complete reset for Susie. Figurative elements of land, sea and sky have been replaced with abstracted ideas of interconnection, micro and macro views. The application of paint taking new forms as well to emulate the numerous styles of communication in nature. From scraping, rubbing, scratching, brushing and dotting. I Am Not An Individual by Susie Dureau open until Oct 9th. #abstractart #sky #landscape #susiedureau #bungendore #visitnsw #visitcanberra @sdureau
13.01.2022 I can’t tell you how many times people have said they want to touch this work by Robyn Campbell. In fact, across the entire show there are so many surface treatments that want to be touched. From ultra smooth, glossy glass and carved matte porcelain, to sparkly wheel cut glass it’s like a lolly shop for grown ups. See the exhibition until 22 November. #groovy #porcelain #alight #cbrarts #findmytreasure #queanbeyanpalerang #southerntablelandsart #australianartist
11.01.2022 One of many artists who have sought solice in their studio during Covid, Robyn Campbell describes her many hours of working and experimenting as ‘playing’. This work, in glass, only touches the surface of the table at the smallest point, almost hovering as though it might take off or spin away. It is stabilised brilliantly and perfectly by the polished glass ‘stone’. Ahhhhh, magic! #glass #black #red #stone #echoes #exhibition #treasuretrail #visitqueanbeyanpalerang #visitnsw #bungendore
11.01.2022 ‘I still revel in the beauty of the flora and fauna of the incredible Australian landscape, although things feel different now. There is a sadness attached to this beauty because of it’s fragility in a time where this country, it’s land and it’s caretakers are suffering tremendously from the way it has been mistreated. How can people treat indigenous Australians as separate or different to them? We are not separate from each other and we are not separate from nature. What is ...missing is a greater understanding of how connected we are and this knowledge is embedded in our indigenous Australian culture’ Renate Rienmueller. ‘No word for black and white’ portrait of Tim Selwyn by Renate Rienmueller. 8x10 inch wet plate collodion photograph on black glass, 2020. #portraitphotography #wetplatecollodion #indigenousculture #bungendore #cbrarts #queanbeyan See more
06.01.2022 This show stopper by Tim Selwyn is made from a near three hundred year old Iron bark tree that fell during a storm near his home on the central coast of NSW. The title of the piece ‘Walk with good intent’ is significant. Tim refers to showing respect for a space when you enter. It’s about bringing good energy with you. #respect #goodenergy #ironbark #shield #protection #bungendore #visitnsw #visitqueanbeyanpalerang #sculpture #indigenous @ Suki & Hugh Gallery
