25.01.2022 #50over50project No. 19 Christine Age: 73 Christine found my 50 over 50 project and asked her daughter Helen to be part of it and they both decided participated in this project.... I love taking photos of mother and her adult daughters. I wanted to get the photos done with my mother and sister before my mother passed away but I could not have them. So I love doing this to other mother & daughters - something I could not get but it is nice to do it for someone else. It is a kind of healing for me. I shared Helen, Christine's daughter's video and photos already. Three of us had fun together. It is beautiful to see their love to each other. Christine is very fit, active and very supportive. Here is Christine's video and story; I am a mother of 4 children, a grandmother of 12 cherubs and a sister to 10 brothers and sisters. I enjoy the simple life, supporting my family and friends with food, wine and good, long chats. I like to keep busy and to keep fit. Riding my bike is a time to create some downtime just for me. Life at my age is great. I have nothing to prove. 25.01.2022 Its not how you look, its how you feel that matters - Mell Balment I had opportunities to capture this incredible woman, Mell Balment recently. First, the next day of her last chemotherapy, I wanted to photograph her in an orange dress with orange flowers. At the second time, in my Main Beach studio with studio lighting and outdoor. I believe that her story will inspire many women. ... "Hi, Im Mell Balment. This week, I have finished my chemo treatments. And for me what I want to share with you today was my perspective of how I have gotten through in particular about losing my hair. In the early days, just as it was about, it started to fall out, I wasnt comfortable, I wasnt happy, I was actually quite afraid of what I would look like. Like most of us, we all have a hang ups to how we look and mine was about my face, particularly my jaw and my teeth. And I cried a fair bit at the first week when it fell out and I cannot imagine how it would be like for women would have long hair because I already had a pixy short cut. However, what for me transpired as I accepted more around what I am looking like is what people are seeing, I stop trying to be like I was before chemo started. I started embrace this! realness who I am. Now I get I am lucky apparently, I have a very even beautiful shaped head. You never know what you are gonna be like without it. I also embraced the creativity and the realness of being me. And I found more I showed up even in winter without any scarves, more people would talk to me and more people felt comfortable to approach me. And I hope that anybody who is going through any self-esteem issues with regards to how they look, how makes them feel, well remember, what you feel inside is not necessarily what people on the outside see. I today, all made up, I got my false eye lashes on, but I am really comfortable as well being completely naked without any foundation, no makeup and Ive actually grown through it to the next level of comfort any time to go down to the shops, be ok with how I look, no hair. So I hope this maybe helps you recognise sometimes we are hard on ourselves what we think we should look like, or how you want to be, and some things are beyond our control. Hopefully I may be inspired you and to be a bit more creative, and bringing out some girly stuff, or if you are a man, just adopt and embrace who you are, because the life is going to send us a curve ball and we accepted, the life is just much easier to get through whats important and thats our health to getting through the journeys and challenges the life is sending us. It is not about how you look but about how we feel. I think you are beautiful." 16.01.2022 #50over50project #birthdaygirls These two ladies who participated 50 over 50 chapter 1 and shared digital cards in 50 over 50 project VIP group (members are who have been photographed or will be photographed) It was nice going back to see the portraits of my clients. Each one of people whom I photographed are important to me and I clearly remembered their shoot. First photo is Ann. I talked her when she was in Zanzibar on her holiday. She is amazing and very active to try ...different things and enjoy her life. She is a wedding celebrant and an actor as well. When I photographed her, I was working in my living room with natural light only. The second photo is Susan. I photographed her in my first studio in Waterford. I started taking photos with a strobe as well. We went to nearby forest and she danced for me. All the memories come back when I see their photos and feel grateful that they were part of my journey. 13.01.2022 Celebrating my achievement The certification and the medal arrived from the States today. This is the first medal that I received in 58 years of my life. I worked so hard to reach the associate level of the Portrait Masters, an international award and accreditation. Thank you so much to Sue Bryce and her team. This recognition means a lot to me. I have been following and admiring Sue’s work since I learned how to use DSLR camera 6 years ago. My teacher at TAFE’s DSLR ph...otography course who is also a professional photographer with lots of experience told me about Sue. I signed up her online education and studied. I went her workshop in New Zealand 2 years ago was the best investment. Becoming an associate of the Portrait Masters lead by Sue Bryce means a lot to me. Year 2020 was a strange year. I could not work as a photographer for 3 months because of the CoVid. However, my business is doing well because of my clients and people who support me. Thank you to you all. 12.01.2022 #happybirthday Rhonda Rhonda was the second woman of my #50over50project chapter 1. I photographed her and Jo at her property. Rhonda wanted to have photos with her horse and I dressed up her with this big tulle skirt. Rhonda said to me that she is an introvert and wanted to do something so different to what she normally does. She said the experience has changed her life forever. She could come out of the shell and becoming more confident woman. It was my first time to unde...rstand the power of photography and what I can do for other women. I set the backdrop and light set there. I love her very much so she does, I believe. She is a matriarch of her family, generous and loving person. She told me about her life stories, stories about her families, neighbors, friends, her travels, and arts that displayed in her home. I feel like I have known her fo...r a long time. 11.01.2022 #50over50project No. 20 Glenda Age: 50 Glenda turned to 50 in August this year. Jeanee, her sister organised this photo shoot to celebrate her 50th together long before her birthday. I organised her birthday gift card and finally I met this beautiful sisters one week before their photo shoot for pre consultation. They showed me beautiful outfits options. We had so much fun on the photo shoot day and I love the photos so much to capture beauty of each and together and love o...f each other. Here is Glenda's Story. As time has passed I see my life as a beautiful Puzzle that is not yet complete and I dont know what the whole picture will be until the end. But as I look back on my life (puzzle pieces) I can see I have learned valuable lessons from some experiences whether it be hard lessons or beautiful lessons. Sometimes I cant explain why things happened but need to just sit with It just did. I have always felt very blessed by having an incredibly loving and supportive family and friends and this stability is definitely what has helped me through many tough times including a divorce, moving to a different country away from all my family and friends and loss of a child (by far the hardest thing I have ever experienced and changed the course of my life forever). I count all the many blessing I do have, even the smallest things that can happen I now notice. My amazingly generous Sister Jeanee and my loving, caring Mum have been there for and with me through it all and I cannot express enough how much I love and appreciate them. 10.01.2022 #50over50project by #sumicophotography Toni Lontis At the consultation, she said she normally gets photographs at one side because of her childhood congenital facial defect. I was looking at her and I asked her if it is ok for me to try to take some photos front on as what I saw was a beautiful woman as she is. She agreed. I loved the photos and so she did. I loved all the close up shots and front on. The second shot she closed her eyes - I felt her emotion - what she went... through and how she became and I thought so beautiful. Toni gave me a wonderful testimonial and I am grateful. What an amazing beautiful experience it was working with Sumiko! I have never been fond of photos and Sumikos skill in getting such beautiful shots in something Ive never experienced before. It is a bit hard to see and too quick but you can see how she trained her body expecially her back muscle from the beach shots (her sitting down). This is behind the scene video. Amazing photos of her are coming soon. ... After I met her, I thought that I should traing my body. (not happening yet) Very inspiring and amazing. 08.01.2022 #50over50project No. 21 Jeanee Age: 55 Jeanee booked 50 over 50 project portrait session for her sister Glenda and herself - to have fun together. I could see how much she cares and loves her sister and it was beautiful to see. ... The outfits they brought were all well harmonised together and I enjoyed thinking of matching outfits to backgrounds and love the outcomes. Here is stylish and beautiful Jeanee's story. Being over 50 has been quite liberating for me. I had no empty nest feelings when my two grown up children left home and I was excited to start the next chapter of my life with my darling husband of 36 years. Our home and time were now our own and we have made the most of it by travelling, we have seen amazing places both here in Australia and overseas. Our most recent and stand out amazing trip was a cruise in the Antarctic. We have taken up cycling which makes me feel very young again. We also have two very quirky miniature bull terriers who keep us amused and entertained. I have a deeper relationship with my son and my daughter now, I think it may be because I dont feel the pressures of good mothering. They are both well rounded, thoughtful, respectful, loving, have great sense of humours, support themselves and are liked by others. I am so very proud of them, they are my greatest achievements in my 55 years. I wanted to take photos of her with my studio lighting. My favourite shot was the first one which I used for the cover of her video. 05.01.2022 Beautiful Mell. I took these photos a day after she completed her chemo therapy. I felt that I was meant to take her photos. Originally I planned to take portraits of a model at orange flower wall in nearby suburb and arranged hair and makeup artist. The day we planned rained and we decided to cancel the photoshoot. I made an orange dress for the shoot and look forward to do creative work. I was disappointed with the weather. Then I noticed that Mell commented my post about... orange dress. I was aware of her cancer journey. I asked her if she can be a model for me and she said yes and the day we set the shoot was a day after her last chemo therapy. Everything went smooth and the day of the shoot was a warm day. Mell did her makeup. I asked her if she can put the butterfly eyelashes that she was wearing at the function when I have met her for the first time. The dress that she was in the photos and all accessories were hers. The orange dress that I made was not the right shades of orange colour for her. I feel that I meant to take Mells photos in her life now and I love what I captured. 04.01.2022 When I was 52, I learned how to use DSLR from a professional photographer. He mentioned a photographer called Sue Bryce Photographer and how beautiful her works are. I searched her name and found her educational program in Creative Live. I purchased her course and I learned a lot from it. Then later she started her own education program, so I signed up for it. In 2018, I went to New Zealand to attend her workshop which changed my mindset and photography skills. She started... her awards and accreditation program and I kept submitting my work to get the accreditation. Yesterday, I got the results back and my 13 images were awarded Bronze and I earned the Associates status of the Portrait Masters. This is an international accreditation system. Earning Associate status was one of my goals that I have set this year and I am so proud that I have achieved it. When I saw my name on the Portrait Masters website, I cannot express how happy and proud of my achievement. I like to express my gratitude to Sue and her team of the education program, my hair and makeup teams, supportive family and friends and my wonderful clients. Next goal is reach to Master level. 04.01.2022 I recently worked with Sally and Martyn of Insternational Institute of Coaching who help expert clients add 5 or 6-figures to their income. They set up the branding day for two of their clients and I took photos and designed their Facebook cover. Then I had a branding session with Sally and Martyn for their own branding. I love the outcomes. We did studio photo shoot first then went to Marina Mirage and the Spit where is not far from my photography studio.... I am capable of taking photos and designing the graphics such as Facebook cover, pull up banners, business cards and flyers using the photos that I have taken.
