As our skin naturally lightens in tone over winter, there’s no doubt that you’ll look unnatural if you continue to carry your deep fake tan of summer through the cold snap. Opt for a a shade or two lighter than you would usually ask for in summer. The idea is to just ‘take the edge off’ so you still look glowing but natural. Exfoliate regularly - The low humidity both indoors (heaters) and outdoors creates the perfect conditions to worsen dry skin. Additionally, we tend to enjoy hot and long showers, which dries the skin out further. Keep moisturised - Stave off dry skin by switching out your standard lotion for a rich body butter. Cool the water - Very hot water dries out the skin, so turn down the temperature of your showers and baths over winter. When using your towel to dry, pat yourself dry instead of rubbing, as rubbing will remove your tan. Stay hydrated - Cold, dreary weather can put stress on the body, so it’s important to not only hydrate and nourish your skin, but your insides too. Keep hydrated with water throughout the day.
