15.01.2022 Summer Hill Cricket Club is proud to be involved with the Pratten Park Bowling Club. We use the facility for committee meetings and (pre-COVID) for our annual presentation day. Today comes with some good news. After being closed due to COVID for the last six month, the Pratto is re-opening on Friday nights in December. Perfect for dinner after training at Pratten Park!
10.01.2022 Drama at the U11 girls match today when a bad car crash on Parramatta Road resulted in the air ambulance landing on our wicket. The patients ended up being transported to hospital by road, and the pilots allowed both teams to have a look at the helicopter. We hope everyone in the crash is ok.

The Bureau of Meteorology’s (BOM) extreme heat warning forecasts temperatures of 40 degrees + in areas of Sydney, regional areas of NSW and ACT on Saturday and/or Sunday.... It is inevitable that at times matches will be scheduled for play during extreme heat conditions. All captains, officials, team managers, coaches and umpires owe a duty of care to players and officials, taking all reasonable steps to minimise foreseeable risks which may result in injury or damage. Competition Administrators and club representatives should be made aware of the Association's heat policy, the recommendations outlined in the Cricket Australia Community Cricket Playing in Heat Guidelines and the Heat Stress Risk index (HSRI) tool. The Cricket Australia Community Cricket Playing in Heat Guidelines and the Heat Stress Risk index (HSRI) tool provides the cricket community with a scientific method of managing cricket in extreme heat conditions. *Please note, increased caution should be exercised in relation to junior competitions as younger people and children are more susceptible to heat injury and heat-related illness than adults. Strategies to Minimise Risk & Maximise Playing Time Increase player rest and rotation Extended or increase the amount of drinks breaks. Every 30-60 minutes, with increased frequency as heat extremities increase. Players should have their own drink bottles. Scheduling of matches earlier (before 1200) or later (after 1500) to avoid the hottest part of the day Sun protective measures - Slip on covering clothing; Slop on SPF30+ sunscreen; Slap on a hat; Seek shade when possible; Slide on some sunglasses Drink plenty of water before, during and post match or cricket activity Symptoms of Heat Injury or Heat Stroke It is important to be aware and react quickly to the following symptoms of heat injury or heat stroke: Fatigue Nausea Headache Confusion; and Light-headedness. What to do if someone is effected by heat: Lie the victim down Loosen and remove excessive clothing & cool by fanning Give cool water to drink if conscious Apply wrapped ice packs to groins and armpits Seek medical assistance if these symptoms don’t improve rapidly Heat stroke is a potentially fatal condition and must be treated immediately by a medical professional.
