04.01.2022 I fix Broken Tai Chi ...... Before it Breaks You!!! The images below show poor structure, body align and biomechanics regarding the alignment of the knee joint. All the weight of the body is falling directly onto the knee joint which is not being supported by the lower leg, ankle and foot, in an unstable position.... This puts pressure on the knee joint and its ligaments and cartilage putting them at risk of damage particularly over time. Sadly we can see the girl students are copying this bad posture, and can be very clearly seen by the girl to the right in orange shoes. Tai Chi is well known for Strengthening Knees!!!! Of course it must be the real deal and properly taught!! Or sadly the thing that is supposed to strengthen knees can in fact lead to crippling knee damage!!! "Nasal breathing and breathing techniques such as humming and particular types of controlled breath holding stimulate increased nitric oxide production. Because the nasal airways and sinuses are the primary sources of exhaled nitric oxide [4-6], nasal breathing concentrates the amount of nitric oxide circulating in the upper airway [7]. Levels reduce greatly if we switch to mouth breathing and some research shows that mouth breathing reduces the amount of exhaled nitric oxide by 50% [5]. Nasal breathing also makes the nose healthy in other ways, improving its microbiome, hydration, blood flow and mucous production [8]. Nasal breathing improves lung health and oxygenation of the body in several ways. The nose helps to filter particulate matter that can adversely affect the health of the lungs and contribute to inflammation. Breathing through the nose significantly reduces particle deposition in the lungs that occurs during mouth breathing [9]. We are lucky that our Summer Hill Tai Chi training location Parks are in such lovely settings with beautiful big old trees providing us with shade and fresh oxygen. However no matter your location when practicing, you can always visualise and image a beautiful, calm, peaceful and vibrant location in your mind....
