03.01.2022 Just discussing the mental game of golf and thought I would share. " I find breaking down the game of golf into four distinct mindsets a valuable way to begin. Golf is a game of switching on and off your attention as well as different mental states to achieve success over 18 holes. 1. Shot prep- analytic mind problem solving and making choices (club, wind, distance, hazards etc.). This begins upon ball approach and ends at the end of the pre shot routine. 2. Shot execution- t...he most important time to be focussed and relaxed. A different mindset altogether. Its important to switch off the analytic mind and engage the observing calm mind where automaticity flows (mind and body connected). 3. Shot analysis- a short review of the shot and imagery of the shot to correct error in the swing or weight or to capture a good swing for the bank.
