22.01.2022 I love a bit of colour-coordinated organisation. It helps me find what I’m looking for quickly, and the colour-coding functions as a visual cue to support children’s understanding of parts of speech / different categories of words. Where possible, I use the Modified Fitzgerald Key to colour-code my therapy resources. 19.01.2022 Here’s another great dog puzzle I use in #AnimalAssistedTherapy. We use these puzzles as activities in #speechpathology to develop oral and written language skills, e.g. working on verbs, procedure texts, following instructions and so much more! It’s also great for targeting executive functioning, regulation, planning, social skills and higher order language skills in clients with #CommunicationDisorders. Poppy is still learning how to do these puzzles, so we talk a lot ...about #GrowthMindset (over the sound of her paws scratching frantically at the puzzle segments she can’t get yet), as well as how to deal with #emotions such as frustration and excitement! #AnimalAssistedIntervention #AnimalAssistedTherapy #AAT #aussielabradoodle #SLP #SLPintervention

04.01.2022 I just discovered there is an animated film of Anne Frank’s Diary on Youtube! Hard to link out on instagram, so just search Anne Frank animated to find it - I’ve included a screenshot of the account so you’ll know you’ve found the right video. It is 1.5hrs long, so perhaps a weekend watch. This story was so beautiful, moving and sad when I read it as a young girl. I hope future generations are always able to read, watch and learn the history of our world: the sad, ter...rible parts as well as the wonderful, human parts. For individuals with #DLD, storybooks are not always accessible because of literacy and language difficulties. 04.01.2022 Dog puzzles are a great training activity for #TherapyDogs and we can use these puzzles in #speechpathology to develop executive functioning, planning and higher order language skills in clients with #communicationdisorders.
