25.01.2022 I thought our guests, past and present, may like to see what I get up to with my photography these days! For anyone interested, check out red bubble - ifototravel - irene isaacson or https://www.redbubble.com/people/iFotoTravel/shop . I have over 35 designs on Red Bubble under ifototravel, as well as more wall art also available on https://fineartamerica.com/profi/ifototravel-irene-isaacson

22.01.2022 Greens for our red billed black swans. They came over for greens from the vegetable garden. By the time I got my OPPO Phone camera from upstairs, they had discovered lawn clippings from nextdoor. When called, they could not resist the temptation of wholegrain bread from Pepe, Airbnb host next door. ... Swanny days at Sunbird.

22.01.2022 About a 20 minute drive from Sunbird towards Australia Zoo is a shared trail system well worth considering.

21.01.2022 Kayaking across to Mudjimba Island to snorkel with the turtles while they chow down on the coralline, brown and green seaweeds on rising tides is the number one favourite experience for guests who stay with us at Sunbird Holiday Stay. On Monday 16th November 2020, I had the pleasure to take our house guest, Urszula Biela, on an experience that was so life affectiung........she will be back for more. While we were snorkelling close to shore, and in the rock pools, cameras wer...e left to record activity at a turtle cleaning station that I had discovered by serendipity last week. Before a video is posted to DiveCareDare YouTube Channel, screenshots of the cleaning station can be seen on FB Page DiveCareDare. Scroll down to look at other posts. If you like what you see, please follow.

21.01.2022 Was Phons Thai. Same location walking distance from Sunbird. Ordered online last night with long stay guests who are about to fly to Mexico for a family reunion. So good, ordering online for tonight with a good friend and one time diving buddy.... I had the signature spicy prawn Laksa.......totally rated. Two hands required to deal with the enormous prawns.

19.01.2022 The pair of black swans that have delighted our guests over the years appear to have a youngster in tow. It takes courage for this trio to come close to our pontoon because the fish behave like Amazonian piranhas whenever there is a hint of food coming from the sky above them.

18.01.2022 500 km, 9:00 am to 9:00 pm to have lunch with friends at Dean Major's #cafebalaena in #herveybay. Arrived by noon. Left at 4:00 pm to go to #RainbowBeach #wolfrock Dive to pick up genuine grey nurse shark teeth for a 2.5 metre replica. Great day, great company, great food. We will return to swim with the whales in August, 2020.

14.01.2022 Not so far from Sunbird is a place that's full of fish, bird song and sensory overload for a hairless cat. Missy B2 has collapsed on my lap under a blanket while I post this recount of our walk with the Chinese hairless cresties on Facebook.

12.01.2022 A seven minute drive from Sunbird takes us to a purpose built "boardwalk" on the floodplain of the Mooloolah River (camp or place of the red-bellied blacksnake. Mooloolah National Park is across the river where MissyB2, Angel and Errol would not be allowed. This track is part of an expanding network of shared paths and trails throughout the Sunshine Coast. Reptiles and birds are frequently seen even in the winter months of July.

12.01.2022 Four our information and for our guests. Destinations around the Sunshine Coast that are less known than the many popular destinations and highlights.

10.01.2022 For our guests who like to stroll along the ocean beaches near Sunbird. Following periods of wind blowing from the Coral Sea in the north towards the Sunshine Coast, our beaches can turn blue from many thousands of bluebottles aka Potuguese Mon O War. In and amongst them we sometimes find the drifting predators that export the stinging cells of the bluebottles to the extremities of their own soft bodies. They are nudibranchs with relatives here on the Sunshine Coast that can be found with an extraordinary amount of diversity in colour, pattern, size and diet. We have some of the highest biodiversity in the world when it comes to Nudibranchs.

08.01.2022 If you are staying with us at 106 Sunbird and want something different to do? Head up to the #PlatypusPools at #Maleny, preferably at sunrise (sorry!) to see these little guys active. Amazing! #thisisqueensland #tourismqueensland #sunrise_lovers #discoveraustralia #seeaustralia #exploreaustralia

08.01.2022 Meet Fruitbat, Midnight, Grey, and Red. They are resin replicas from Natureworks and unlikely to compete with the flying foxes that visit the climbing grid to feed on fruit kebabs when times are tough.

08.01.2022 Platypus viewing tours with Neil, aka Platypus Whisperer will soon be an option for Sunbird Holiday Stay guests. A highly recommended alternative to the number 1 best experience that has proven to be the kayak trip across to Mudjimba Island to hang out with sea turtles. Details will be shared on this Page when the tours are up and running.

04.01.2022 Good morning from the rooftop at 106 Sunbird Chase. Winter months are the best months to stay with us here on the Sunshine Coast. The first days of July flag the most welcome arrivals of critically endangered Grey Nurse Sharks that have paused migration to visit the Sunshine Coast in recent years. Sharing the significance of their return from the brink of extinction with our guests is one of the new services that we can offer here at Sunbird. Non divers can do an introductory dive and experience these labradors of the shark world during our winter months. #netsoutnow

04.01.2022 Kayaking across to Mudjimba Island to hang out with the turtles remains the stand out, NUMBER ONE, top rated activity for both short and long stay guests at Sunbird. Some guests miss out because their stay is not inclusive of the conditions that I use to recommend a GO or NO GO. This clip represents the reasons why I will not go when there are few turtles feeding on barnacle covered, wave swept rocks at low tide. I have shredded more than one wetsuit to secure similar footage for guests in the past. On the up side, I will hang out with the turtles off Mudjimba Island on any excuse. I'm thankful to the crew of #subsurfacescuba #rctsc for taking open water trainees to the western side to Mudjimba Island to give me the opportunity to recover fishing net off the rocks and shoot this shallow water segment for sharing.

03.01.2022 We like to promote the kinds of things that our guests can expect here at Sunbird. Irene is getting pretty good at Photoshopping the things that we want to highlight by getting rid of the distractions that we don't. This shared post takes the concept to a whole new level with one image receiving more than a thousand likes.

03.01.2022 Soooo good to catch up with our "adopted son" Kiran who was one of our first and longest stays at Sunbird. We were introduced to his delightful significant other, Ena, before they checked in at another Airbnb at Marcus Beach near Noosa. They will move to Canberra where Ena works for our national interests and Kiran can do his job from home with occasional flights to head office in Brisbane. We will catch up again in Canberra on one of our road trips after Irene retires in 2021.

02.01.2022 For our guests who wonder where we bought some of our life like creatures around 106 Sunbird...Well, they are all the crazy creations of #davidjoffe or #natureworks in Mt.Glorious, North of Brisbane. Today we visited David and had a personal tour of his amazing property. Totally awesome, crazy, quirky, funny, u name it, it's quite...well...indescribable! And what a great guy too with a great sense of fun. A true larrikin, and a bloke who is obviously passionate about what he... and his great team can do. Luv your wurk guys! Just can't wait till we find the right spot at Sunbird to hang our new bats, the latest additions to our NatureWork's family! #visitsunshinecoast #thisisqueensland #tourismsunshinecoast

01.01.2022 You may not yet realise that your hosts at 106 Sunbird are not your average hosts. Yes, we are into bald dogs and cats, and Tony lives to dive daily with sharks. But our next foray into being one on one with nature and wildlife will be rescuing and eventually caring for injured and orphaned #fruitbats or #flyingfox. But for now, we have our training wheels on...
