18.01.2022 This is a really good explanation of Reward based training Reward-based training generally involves ignoring any unwanted behaviour. In this way the dog is not rewarded with attention for doing what you dont want them to do and then they tend to stop doing it. For example ignoring your dog when it jumps up to greet you rather then pushing it down means that your dog is not rewarded with your attention. This includes avoiding eye contact and not speaking to them. Only rewar...d your pup with attention when all four paws are on the ground. REMEMBER Puppies have a very short attention span, so dont spend long periods of time training your puppy. Many sessions can be held through the day but at no longer than five minutes at a time.
